Just don't complete it before the rest of us complete our SZ1 book!
You can start a book for Safezone 2 while your team members are completing Safezone 1, but you can't complete that book until all of safezone one is complete

I don't think I'll be finishing it before you guys (you're all much faster readers than I am), but if necesary, I'll save the last chapter until you finish ;)

I'm up for it! If the next countdown is truly two weeks from the first one (so Monday), then I can finish up my SZ2 book and probably get at least 2 letters toward a word for SZ3 by then.

"Nine" might be a good place to start...fairly simple letters to find books that fit, plus one letter for each of us.

I'll take one of the Ns. The next book I plan to read starts with N so it works out well.

Definitely! I'll update Message 11 as well, but here is the list:
10 with a title that starts with O
9 set in Canada
8 tagged MPG Sci-Fi
7 that is more than 50% black (use tin eye to confirm)
6 from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die List. For this task, you can use books that would otherwise not be allowable for the challenge (e.g. due to wordcount or genre)
5 that has one of the 50 states of the USA in the title
4 that is more than 400 pages
3 that has the letters C-A-T in the title (in any order)
2 written by an African American author
1 from the NPR List

I can read for tasks 3 and 4, because the books I plan to read next week fit those two challenges.
Do we have to finish them before Saturday 31st right?

The timing for the countdown tasks varies and will be different each week so I guess basically as soon as possible after it starts. :/

I have books planned for other challenges that would fit:
7 that is more than 50% black (use tin eye to confirm)
4 that is more than 400 pages
3 that has the letters C-A-T in the title (in any order)
2 written by an African American author
But I can be flexible and fit in several of the others instead.

Once we have our countdown books planned we can check to see if we can build a ladder with them to rejuvenate.
I would like to claim this one for SZ2, Round 2

I've updated Message 11 with the round 2 selections so far.
We should go ahead and choose a letter from ACID for the completion of SZ1 and I'll work on getting a rejuvenation ladder plan in place. :) I don't care which letter I get for that one so I'll just take whatever's left after you all decide.
Linda, would you like to take SZ2, task 1? If not, I should be able to find something, especially since you're taking on 3 of the countdown tasks!

How it Fits: book with red writing on the cover where the title contains the letters L-A-V-A

"SZ2 #2 - Green Title that has the letters ACID in it. -----372 pages"
That should have been for task 1. It's actually number 2 that needs to be taken. I'm so sorry for the confusion. If you done found a book though Linda I will do the other task no problems. It was my mistake. ;)
Also for the spell out ACID I can do any letter.

If I tallied these next few up correctly they are short words but every little bit will count.

I'm sorry Jennifer and Linda, when I was updating, I didn't even read the description to see if it matched, I just wrote down the task numbers.

Here are the books I have planned (besides the one for NINE that I'm reading now) that I should have complete by the deadline. I'm taking my son back to college on Sunday (7 hours drive + unpacking) so that day is likely shot for me to read anything unless I'm going on my own (his dad not going) and can listen to an audiobook on the way home.
When He Was Wicked (I finished this one today and we had SZ2 complete yesterday so it's ready to be used where needed): W, J, Q, F, M, S, B
Planned & will be finished for sure:
Praying for Rain: P, B, E, R, W, T
On my planning list and likely could add and have complete in time because they're short:
Bittersweet: B, S, T, A, K, G, S, M
The Mind: T, K, S, M, R, G, F, W
