Victoria Dougherty (goodreadscomvictoria_dougherty) | 60 comments Victoria Dougherty writes fiction, drama, and essays that often revolve around spies, killers, curses and destinies. Her work has been published or profiled in The New York Times, USA Today, International Herald Tribune and elsewhere. Earlier in her career, while living in Prague, she co-founded Black Box Theater, translating, producing and acting in several Czech plays. Victoria loves noir, Winston Churchill, shabby chic, old family photos, fog, Byzantium and taxidermy – although not necessarily in that order. She lives with her husband and children in Charlottesville, Virginia, and loves them most of all.

Ty Patterson | 401 comments I read thrillers, I write thrillers. Some say I write good ones.

message 5: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments I've been writing for over ten years (as a hobby) but only published in November of 2112. After publishing four fantasy titles, I wrote and published my first thriller. I love both genres, but thrillers are certainly easier to sell. At over 1000 copies in four months it seems to sell itself. But no, that's not true, it's down to the great readers that read, review and recommend.

When not writing and promoting my books I work part time in a library, which is great. Prior to that I worked in high end reprographics for twenty years (very useful, as I honed the skills necessary to produce my own covers).

I'm a bit of a control freak at heart.

PS: My ambition while in this group is to get Janet to read one of my fantasy novels ;~)

message 12: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Ellis (nataliesellis) | 5 comments Thanks for the opportunity! It took 20 years and 8 books to finally get a publishing contract and my first book was published by HarperCollins earlier this year. Fear for Hire is about a mistaken kidnapping. Natalie S. Ellis worked behind the scenes in TV news for sixteen years and will always miss the rush of a breaking story. But the seduction of writing a fiery romance with twisty suspense is even harder to resist, especially when she has a new curve-ball for the plot. Natalie enjoys living in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and attributes her cheerful attitude to empty nesting, a supportive family, and way too many lattés. www.fearforhire.com

My first, Untouchable, is out next March in the UK and the US, and is about an escort with a dark secret who stumbles into an even darker conspiracy.

message 23: by Aimee (new)

Aimee Scott | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Aimee and I'm the author of the epic fantasy series 'Eva's Ascension'. When I am not buried knee deep in books you will usually find me running around after a particularly beautiful (and ridiculously loud) 8 month old or arguing with my ten year old son (I never win)
Apart from that I do occasional administrative work and freelance as a graphic artist.
I would have put this in third person to sound more professional but it made me break out into fits of giggles when I tried... :/

message 28: by Ash (new)

Ash Stone (ash-stone) | 1 comments Ash was born on Christmas Day 1974. So started a life of "Merry Christmas...And oh! Happy Birthday too." Before you say, "Aw Shame" and break out the tissues, please know that Ash is a Christmas Diva! There are always two presents ...or else!

Reading and writing was a big part of Ash's life growing up. Being a typical rebel, rather than joining the cut-throat corporate world after graduating, Ash became a vegetarian hippie instead and went into the gardening/ nursery business. The irony of a vegetarian "plant lover" is still lost this award winning Horticulturist to this day.
Ash traded comfortable hemp attire for corporate cotton later on and became the Purchasing Manager for McDonald's Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa region. These days neither the high flying corporate Exec or the vegetarian hippie exists, but rather the family orientated book lover with not so much spare time to read anymore.

Yvonne Harriott Hi … My name is Yvonne. I am an author. I’ve written two collections of short stories and a romantic suspense series. I’m an avid reader. Bought a book on how to change the oil in my car last year. Thought it was nice to know. I have a great mechanic so didn’t see the need to take away his job. I love romantic suspense and that’s what I love to write.

Hi everyone, my name is Carol. I am an author who lives on a boat on the south coast of England. I while away the time writing in the master cabin or on the back deck and cooking in the galley
My first novel, just published by Rethink Press, is a mystery set mainly on a boat in a cove in Southern Ireland. It is a timely tale involving memory and identity which has been described by readers as 'a page turner'. It won the Rethink Press novel award 2014.
New to Goodreads, I am delighted to join this group and to discover other mystery/thrillers, my favourite genre.

Becky Johnson | 30 comments Hello everyone!
I have been writing for years, but have only recently been published. My first novel is a short Mystery/suspense novel, and my second is due out in January.
I love the question why. I like to ask why people do things or react the way the do. In my writing I try to answer this question.
I am excited to be a part of this group, as an author, but also as a reader!

Hi Sean,
I've notice in reading some of the posts and comments that there is a specific site available for authors to post info about their own books. Can you direct me to that site? I can't seem to find it. Thanks, Peter

message 43: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Mae (jackiemae) | 12 comments Excited to join the group. Jackie Mae, I love life, strive to inspire, and drink too much coffee.

I write adult thriller/suspense/sci-fi. In addition, I also write with my co-author, my granddaughter, a series of children's chapter books that are thrillers/fantasy/mystery. Book two is Due Out Fall 2014.

As an indie author I was thrilled to recently receive a TOP 100 Hall of Fame Reviewer glowing review. Sadly, I had to cut and paste this review to my profile as reviews on Amazon do not automatically post to Goodreads. :(

I am looking forward to interaction with everyone. Life is short live it to the fullest. :)

message 50: by Dee (new)

Dee Waite (deeannwaite) | 9 comments Dee Ann Waite writes action adventure thrillers. Her first novel, The Consequential Element is a military action thriller (with a touch of romance) that takes the reader on a full throttle international ride from the streets of Boston to the jungles of the Congo.

Her second novel, Mists of Bayou Rhyne is a Young Adult thriller set in the Mississippi Bayou. This is the first installment in the Rhyne Heart Thriller Series, and is slotted for release in December 2014.

Her intense interest in psychology, along with her studies in that area, have led her to her third novel, a psychological thriller titled Where Demons Hide, scheduled for release late 2015. This is the first installment of a three book series.

A former private investigator, and the sister of four retired brothers from both the military and department of corrections, as well as former FBI ties, the military and law have been a strong influence and have played out heavily in her writing.

Along with being an author, she has dedicated her blog to helping new authors achieve their dream of completing a novel and offers coaching assistance online, as well as with small groups throughout her community.

Dee Ann currently resides along the central east coast of Florida. When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, horseback riding, and nature. She owns a pet photography business and branches out her love for photography by visiting the Everglades and swamps in search of alligators and exotic birds. When at home, she cherishes a chilled glass of wine while sitting in her garden with her dog Dodger.

You can learn more about Dee Ann on her website at www.deeannwaite.com. Comments are always welcome!
