Yes when I found out he was going to be in various places around Newcastle I decided I'd be silly to go to Sydney instead;)

message 10: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments Yes I'm in too. You've just reminded me to have a look at our local library events too, Brenda, as he usually does the rounds here in Melbourne. I missed him at work so would like to actually meet him!!!

Sally906 | 88 comments I have a copy already on my kobo reading app - will not be starting for a couple of weeks.

I have it as part of my Spring challenge as my blue cover so October works out well :)

I am about to start right now!

message 21: by Linda (new)

Linda I've already read the book and I have to say that it is one of my favorites!!!!! Kind of like The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. I've dealt with a LOT of Aspergers and this rings SO true. I'm sure you all will love it! Very hesitant about seeing the movie - I don't think it can be nearly as good as the book.

Do you perhaps mean The Rosie Project Linda? His first book? This is his second and only just out:) I notice in your books you've read that you gave The Rosie Project 5 stars:) Great book!

Phrynne | 15822 comments Mod
I am about half way and really enjoying it. It is not quite as good as the first one but only because the first was so fresh and new. I love the way the author portrays Don's lack of social skills and the way he takes things so literally. There are many laugh aloud moments. Maybe not quite enough of Rosie's perspective though.

Kathryn | 3569 comments Phrynne wrote: "Finished but no further comment here because of no spoilers :)"

Do you know how to use the spoiler tag, Phrynne? You could use it to hide your spoiler - that way the rest of us wouldn't have to click on the spoiler tag until we'd finished!

Just in case you don't know, if you type
before what you want to say, and
afterwards and replace the [ ] with < > then you get (view spoiler).

And now I've started to use the word spoiler so much, it's starting to sound strange!!

Yes I do but it didn't seem necessary to do that yet. maybe later when more people are reading the book.

I agree with your comments re Rosie. She's not the same Rosie we met in the first book. I'll postpone any further comments until others have had the chance to finish the book.

I peeked, but I figured it couldn't be much of a spoiler if you hadn't started reading!! Of course, I suppose someone could have told you something revealing that I might not want to know until I read it, but I only just thought of that!!

OK, I'm definitely not going to peek at your spoiler until I've read the book, Marianne!!

No worries Linda:) I hope you enjoy the second book!!

message 42: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments Started this yesterday and I'm already almost half way and loving it. I haven't found anything to dislike about it so far. It's great to be back in Don's world, actually in Don's head!!! I think I adore him even more in this book.

message 43: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments Finished this last night and absolutely, categorically loved, loved, loved it. Yes I know very profound...not!!! It was just a really enjoyable, fun and entertaining read that I will nor try to analyse or justify, although I did write a review expressing my feelings. We all need a bit of joy and fun in our lives and I think this book certainly delivers that.

message 44: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9981 comments Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did!

message 45: by Linda (new)

Linda Now I am REALLY looking forward to reading it! Can you believe, our local library system only has the CD Audio Recording on order. May have to break down and buy it.....

Fantastic that you enjoyed it so much Elaine:)

Linda, I just saw it for $16 in Big W:)

message 47: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4436 comments I'm actually annoyed at myself for not re reading The Rosie Project first. Just that the characters are so unique, it would have been nice for a re cap, and also having gone to the launch I saw so much of the authors story, it would have been a nice round up. My reading time seems to be less and less though that it probably is unrealistic to re read. But I truly think with my memory it was a necessity! I'm half way through. I think I'm in agreement with those who think Rosie isn't as nice this time round??
