Well said, James and Anni.
By all accounts, 35,000 turned up to the last London protest. Initially, the media tried to claim that they were members of the far right but, as their own pictures showed, the protest was multi-racial and even included a lot of old hippy-types. Anyway, despite what they would like you to believe, the far right has been a minuscule group in Britain for decades and would be lucky to attract 350 to a protest, never mind 100 times that number.
So, they quickly changed tack and tried to make out it was a coalition of crackpots. We sure have a lot of 'crackpots'. It'll be interesting to see how many turn up to the big march planned towards the end of the month.
Last night and this morning, I've spoken to several people who, generally, have no interest in politics and have just 'bitten the bullet' with regards to the corona restrictions...until now. Every single one of them is fuming at the new law. I looked on the Daily Telegraph online comments section last night too, to gauge the opinion of traditional Conservative supporters. The anger and hatred towards the government was extraordinary. And this is their own 'hardcore' supporter base.
That said, it's been clear for a while that the restriction enthusiasts are largely made up of Blair-type globalists. How these people can call themselves left-wing or liberal is beyond me.
I read James's RT link about the 1% blunder. It's one of a number of well-argued articles I've seen in recent months casting doubt over the modelling/ 'science' which has got us to where we are now. Alongside the blatant no-platforming of the large number of scientists who don't spout the mainstream narrative, it gives me zero confidence in official figures. Mark Twain's/ Benjamin Disraeli's 'lies, damn lies and statistics' quote has never been more appropriate than it is today.
With regards to the German computer game and the people Scott knows, who think masks are fun, my advice to all of you (for your own sanity) is to ignore them. They already live in a world that's a cross between the Teletubbies and Alice in Wonderland. There's no point trying to convince them of anything. They're gone...and they won't be coming back.

I’ve given up trying to convince my friends and relatives - the only person who is on the same wavelength (apart from the sensible ones on here) is an ex-soldier neighbour who walks our dog occasionally.

Sky News host Alan Jones says he is tired of being sucked in by governments trying manage our health which has resulted in a “ruthless and heartless abuse of power” exercised by ignorant know-all politicians.
“I hate to put it bluntly as this, but the country is in a mess,” he said.
“Why are we allowing or expecting government to manage our health”.
Since August, 5.5 million Melburnians have been locked down in their homes whilst enduring an 8pm curfew.
“Why are 5.5 million Melburnians living like battery hens; 6.5 million Victorians paying for the stupidity of Daniel Andrews. He should have resigned long ago if he had any decency.”
“But this is the mess you get into if you want to allow politicians to control your lives.
“Andrews and a useless, silent and spineless Cabinet have no ability to manage Victoria and Australia out of this mess.”

9/11, as we were told repeatedly in the days, weeks, and months after the attack, was the day that changed everything. And now a new event has come along to once again throw the world into chaos. But whereas the post-9/11 era introduced America to the concept of homeland security, the COVID-19 era is introducing the world to an altogether more abstract concept: biosecurity. This is the story of the COVID-911 security state.

MUST WATCH, MUST WATCH, MUST...WATCH!

Stay safe. Keep well. Perhaps a hysteria has gripped the nation, at extraordinary cost, when we’re telling each other to take special care over a disease that in three months has killed about 60, in the main quite unwell elderly people.
Even in coronavirus hot spots in Europe and the US, there’s greater chance of being killed in a car accident than being harmed by COVID-19, according to research published last week by Stanford scientist John Ioannidis.

Tricky times to navigate, but thanks for having the courage to voice your feelings and opinions!

I will do my best to wake up the sheeple whenever I can!
So glad to have found this forum - it makes me feel less alone.
I don’t suppose we are at the worst part yet, but can’t imagine how bad it’s going to get before the tipping point.
It is truly tragic about Victoria - seems like hell on earth there at the moment.

Studies Question Transmission of 1918 Spanish Flu https://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/stu...
The 1918 Spanish flu is said to have been one of the most highly virulent, contagious diseases of all time, but when researchers attempted to spread it from person to person -- by directly spraying "infectious" secretions into people's noses, eyes and throats -- no one got sick

Coronavirus: Israel becomes first country in the world to impose second national lockdown https://news.sky.com/story/coronaviru...
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the decision in a news conference after infection and death rates soared.
Interesting to note that the Israeli Housing Minister has resigned over the lockdown and said that his party might leave the coalition because of it. Understandably, he is particularly upset that the Jewish New Year religious festival and holiday is going to be affected by the restrictions. (Governments do seem to have a strange habit of making sure they cause maximum upset to people, don't they?)
It might be wishful thinking, but I get the feeling the debate is shifting slightly and the tide might slowly be turning. It certainly no longer seems to be a case of everyone in the public eye blindly following the mainstream narrative.
In the UK, a number of celebrities are arguing similar points to those expressed on here, and several newspapers are running stories critical of the new restrictions.
I have also noticed how ITV (probably the second most important broadcaster behind the BBC) has made some subtle changes in their coronavirus news coverage. A few days ago, they ran a story about a young father who had been unable to see his newborn son because of the coronavirus restrictions. Previously, they would have missed out the word 'restrictions' and blamed it on the virus. They also interviewed some members of the public who were critical of the new 'Rule of 6', and showed crowds of people walking around Brighton and Birmingham without masks on (clearly the editorial department decided to let this go).
In answer to some of your concerns over Facebook censorship, I'm not knocking conspiracy theories/ stories disputing official figures for a minute but they are always going to run into trouble on social media at times like this.
I believe the best strategy is to use the official figures to defeat governments' arguments because their actions have clearly been disproportionate to the threat posed, even based on their own assumptions. And keep reminding the lockdown enthusiasts about the missed operations, postponed cancer treatments, suicides and all of the other preventable deaths caused by lockdowns too. It's never been a question of saving lives vs the economy, it's always been about how to save the most lives and that is through putting coronavirus in perspective, not shutting down society and scaring the living daylights out of people by pretending the virus is something it plainly isn't.
Having said that, when the economic sh*t does hit the proverbial fan, it might give some people a bit of a wake-up call. As Bill Clinton once said, when asked about the single most important issue at election time: 'It's the economy, stupid'.
Things will probably get worse in the short-term before they get better but hang in there, everybody! Common sense will eventually prevail and then all of your friends and associates will be keen to tell you how they agreed with you all along. Don't let Dan Andrews get away with it, though.

As a total random aside Beau, and this is very random, but do you know anything about the Middle East conflict. If so what's your opinion on Israel and the human rights of Palestinians? I've begun to look into it more lately, but it's quite new to me. Do you have any ideas of a fair solution to this situation?

That's correct, I feel. It feels like every question you ask around 2020 is sacrilegious at first, but then eventually goes mainstream and months later everyone is asking the same question. For example, I can remember back in Feb-March (which feels like a decade ago according to this insane period) you would get banned on social media and vilified if you said the virus was man-made...Now that seems very tame compared to the various other questions being asked.
I would even go so far as to say in 2020 a lot of what I call "underground knowledge" has gone mainstream as people are seeing very obvious conspiracies play out before them.

I don't really know enough about the Middle East conflict to comment on it, James.
To be honest, I can't remember the last time I spoke to anyone outside of my very close friends and family about politics. My contributions to this thread are certainly the first time I've ever posted anything political online.
I've shared my views on the coronavirus restrictions because I am so passionately opposed to them.
I completely agree with you about underground knowledge breaking through into the mainstream this year. In the past, I've always found it provides interesting, sometimes compelling, viewpoints on the big issues of the day. The difference this time is that the underground has provided the ONLY rational arguments; that is why it's gone mainstream and why it will continue to grow.
As mentioned to Anni, I really hope the worlds' governments have simply made one of history's biggest ever ****-ups in their handling of coronavirus, but my heart and my head both tell me there's been something more sinister at play. That's why I'm so interested in this group's views.

Yes, people are beginning to see the bigger picture behind all this.
The manipulation and enslavement of the many by the few powerful Elites has gone on throughout history. And as Lord Acton famously said “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.“
The tide is definitely turning.
This newspaper has been one of the main supporters of coronavirus restrictions and its readers have consistently adopted a sneering, patronising attitude to anybody who has suggested an alternative approach or held up Sweden as an example of better practice.
Although it is by no means the main story, for it to find its way onto their website is very encouraging indeed:

Hi James,
Now more people in the public eye are speaking out, it looks like the authorities are doubling down on their message of fear.
I've had a quick glance at the news myself over the last few days, just for a laugh. Have to be honest, though, it's wearing pretty thin even for comedy value.
Anyway, here's the esteemed UK Government's and medical establishment's message as it seems to stand:
Go back to the office but avoid family and friends.
Don't meet in a park but the tube is safe.
Eat out to help restaurants but only before it gets dark.
Be sure to keep to groups of smaller than 6 unless you're carrying a gun.
Get a test in Aberdeen if you live in London and one in London if you come from Aberdeen, but don't undertake unnecessary travel.
Show the community spirit that got us through the first wave but monitor and snitch on your neighbours.
Wear a mask to protect yourself and others but only when you're not eating or drinking. The virus cannot be transmitted at this time.
Do what we say or we'll impose the restrictions we are going to impose anyway.
And, above all, don't mention Sweden because they handled the first wave so badly that...umm, the virus has now lost interest in them because it's already won.
Had a quick look at the Aussie news too. Looks like more cracks are beginning to appear between the state leaders, or is this wishful thinking?

I suspect here in OZ and my native NZ we have had a preview over these last few months of what's about to be attempted to be rolled out in the UK...and elsewhere...
But like you, I see different forces at play here, pushing in various directions and often opposing each other even within the halls of power...So it's all very hard to figure out or predict.
Human rights in the West appear to have dropped a fair bit in 2020, that's for sure!

(mark of the Beast, anyone?)
No doubt the aim is to get us six feet underground as soon as possible!

Great to hear the opinion from the German minister, James. A voice of reason who is clearly destined for very high office.
And Anni is spot on with this! Over the past week, there have been a lot of rumblings of discontent coming from the Conservative Party's 1922 Committee (our original 'men in grey suits').
They do not suffer fools gladly and Boris won't be in charge a year from now.
Just quickly mention too...anti-lockdown protest last week in Brighton and a big one in London on Saturday too. Organisers estimate 15k in attendance. Look online for some disturbing footage of police brutality against the protesters - all very different to their reaction to other UK protests over the last few months.

Further UK news...questions being asked over whether students will be allowed to travel back home to see their families at Christmas.
Extraordinary!
Surely the government wouldn't impose this? If it is anything more than paper talk then Boris must be in self-destruct mode. If the implications weren't so serious, it would be comedy of the highest order.
Students have never been shy at making their voices heard and, if this policy comes to pass, it will be a game changer.

Glad you liked it, Anni. I thought he brought a bit of light relief to this terrible saga, while making some great points.
Just had a quick scan of recent comments and saw a point I'd previously missed by Debby.
I agree that the suicide situation is deeply upsetting. I have no idea of UK official figures (can't find them anywhere, if they've been released) but I know the mental health charities over here are very, very worried about the impact of lockdown.
When governments put the fear of God into people and prevent the vulnerable from getting proper help, it's not rocket science to know what has/ is going to happen.
I hope you and you family member make up. One of the saddest things about this whole situation is how much it's divided people.

Actually I've found this year has been very funny despite the seriousness of the situ. The amount of accidental comedy has been amazing relief...To see the Sheeples doing this and doing that, whatever they are told even illogical things, all hilarious stuff :)

I also saw a massive bodybuilder early on in the lockdown walking around the supermarket looking like he was in a war zone as if anyone could infect and kill him at a moments notice...I think he was also trying to keep 66 feet apart not 6!
I completely understand the cautious approach for people with underlying conditions and, as a new author, I've tried to avoid mocking anyone with different views on this subject (I haven't achieved your book sales yet, James).
Oh, what the heck! If you don't laugh about it, you'll cry.
I saw a couple of similarly burly blokes to the supermarket man in my local gym, both wearing masks. I didn't say anything but was amused to see that they didn't last very long on the treadmill. Not surprising, really.
I still haven't seen any masked-up folk on countryside/ coastal walks. I know Scott mentioned a few on a trail walk, in an area where they're supposed to be mandatory, but surely they wouldn't do it here?
FFS, whatever happened to proportional responses?
