Thanks for the answers, Kelly. And yay for Big Heart sticking around.

P.S. Did you have to give him that name? I imagine something big and fluffy and I'll probably feel really bad after killing it.

Wow! Even I won't get to that dragon this year!

Cait S | 2825 comments Yup! That's what's going to make it a challenge, which I'm down for. That's why I like getting the advanced notice about the exact date it will go away so I can bump that one up the list of ones to finish first. I think that's a great system, putting new ones up and taking the other ones down. It'll definitely make it easier to sort through.

message 105: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I'm okay with this being a long challenge, too. I love that I feel no pressure to keep up with a certain amount of books or other players. I love that Tea is bringing the RPG experience to the Tavern (can we get a separate thread devoted to role play?! do we have enough nerds like me to do that? ;) ). And I really love that I can pick and choose my own strategy - like now how everything is going toward quests, but soon I need to start focusing on building my weapons or I'm just going to be stuck fighting that same damn sewer rat every time. :D

I was thinking Big Foot but fuzzy and pink.

Does this make you want to kill him more?

I live in Prague but I haven't been to that one yet. I have been to The Medieval Tavern in Detenice several times though and it's super neat. The staff is hilarious they wear costumes and speak the medieval Czech language. The meals are period appropriate, too.

We can set up a separate role play thread.

What about something like "The Theatre"?

Horrible face expression aside, it's still fluffy. And fluffy things are meant to be cuddled. :p

That's pretty neat. We have a nice renaissance faire here but that's about the closest we get. America's not real common for medieval European stuff :)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Hello everyone! I'm late to the game but it looks like fun! I have a question though. For the series pyramid, does it have to be:

1,2,3
or can it be like:
1
3,4
7,8,9

I have a lot of long series I need to finish or ones where I've read book one but have book 2+ left...

First one :)

1
1, 2
1, 2, 3

But you can save the later books in your tote to use later for bigger pyramids.

Zuzana | 2568 comments I really need some training. So I hired a bunch of really badass instructors (from the books I liked):

Meet my armourers/fight instructors, Gandalf the Grey and Ser Barristan Selmy.
_

I plan to fight a lot so I need an excellent healer/herbalist. Tada: Brother Cadfael.

With a staff like that what could possibly go wrong?

With that coin you could hire couple of poor knights *coughs* to help you battle great dragon.

But I would rather train and study hard and then defeat the Dragon myself. :D (Though it probably won't be sooner than 5 years from now as we established above. *sigh*)

Moreover, Ser Barristan is currently out of favour so his services are rather cheap right now and Mithrandir doesn't do it for money, he's in it for the adventure. :p

To be honest, I don't find Mithrandir very helpful. He'll probably talk you into going on a big quest you're not really ready for, and then in critical moment he'll disappear and leave you alone. I'd trust him only with fireworks.
Now if you have some helpful and very devoted servant knight...

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 2 comments I think we have all had enough drinks together to call each other friends. I have an admission, I don't want adventure, I don't seek greater fame. I was happy in my castle overlooking my land and serving the king. I made the mistake of promising my 5 children that I would give them anything they want. And what did they ask for? Dragon steaks, they want to eat dragon steaks. So now I am out here with an old rusty sword looking for a dragon. What have I gotten myself into? Maybe I need another drink or thirty.

Normal dragon steaks or great dragon steaks. The difference is important.

Oh, heh, just went and looked at the rare monsters and they're all Great Dragons. So... Great dragon meat it is! The colored ones are easier than the Great Novel Dragon though. Plus they drop awesome loot.

Zuzana | 2568 comments So I admit that I was playing good old King's Bounty to hone my RPG skills :D and I thought it would be neat to have some achievement bonuses in our game too, e.g. stats bonuses (free leveling up of a weapon or items - Heal potion maybe) for reaching a set number of succesfull battles, e.g. 50, 100 and 500 or for completing a set number of quests. What do you think?

Hmm. I'll ponder it :P There are some awesome rewards for defeating the colored dragons. And they'll be some more items of power that will be able to be acquired in the coming months.
