Karen M | 68 comments Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay was a very good mystery which remained unsolved. This was made into a movie and it's been assumed it was based on actual events but I think it was just based on a really good idea by an author.

Have moved on to Escape to Eden by Rachel McClellan, YA Distopian.

Toni Lewis | 3 comments Just finished “The Magic Hour” by Kristin Hannah. Ive read a few of her books now, this one ranks up there with “The Great Alone” and “The Four Winds”. It was REALLY GOOD!! I use audible, so if you do as well—- the narrator is my least favorite. Very harsh and sometimes obnoxious. However the storyline was interesting enough to help me get past the narration. If you are a KH fan, give it a try!!

Moonchild (moonchild90) | 12 comments I'm still working my way through Galore finding it a bit slow going, halfway through so I'm hoping it ends well but we'll see. I'm on chapter 7 of Easyway to Quit Smoking and have found some stuff that really resonates with me, really giving it an open mind to take everything in.
For another group I've started reading The Illegal
I'm enjoying the pace of the story itself however the story itself is set in a fictional place however there are mentions of real events and places so it's kind of taking me out of the story a little bit. As well as hoping for a little more balance in some of the storyline itself.

PattyMacDotComma The Things They Carried in Vietnam include more than stuff. This phenomenal book by Tim O'Brien was a finalist for the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Included in a soldier's burden are shame, fear, and embarrassment. I feel like I know his people, and I wish they hadn't had to go.

PattyMacDotComma Author Chris Gill is originally a 'product' of the UK and NZ who now lives in Australia. (YAY!) His latest book, Boy Fallen, takes place on the rugged west coast of NZ's South Island. Accident or murder? It's a good story in a great setting - worth a look.

PamG (lynguy1) | 1027 comments I finished The Fervor The Fervor by Alma Katsu by Alma Katsu. My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The novel is is dark, intense, and disturbing, but contains important themes that are just as applicable today as they were in 1944. While this is fiction, internment camps during World War II and many instances of violence against those of Asian (and other) ancestry in America are a harsh reality. That is one of the reasons this is such a difficult review to write and do justice to the book. The story can be categorized in many ways. It is historical fiction, a medical suspense, and a historical horror with a bit of folklore and supernatural suspense.
