Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments The two books I’ve finished so far can be used for Es on the muse mini. I can add them when I get home and to the computer, or another captain can.

Come Closer - character Ed
the IT Girl - character Emily

:)

Ken Follett does characters like that so well. Have put pillars of the earth back on hold and I didn't want to.

Yay for holiday! Hope it goes smoother than Steven's. Mine has started with a child with a temperature needing antibiotics so our plans have changed again.

I'm the same. Can manage 2 of a series in succession sometimes but then need a break and to mix it up with something else.

Both of those Erin Morgenstern books are on my TBR!! Is there one you recommend to start with or either is good? I know they’re not connected at all.

Just checked and you're in :)

message 409: by Insiyah (new)

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 609 comments As far as Erin Morgenstern books go, there seem to be two types of readers - the ones who absolutely LOVE it, and the ones who just don't. Personally I enjoyed both a lot.

The Starless Sea was very confusing at first, but once the plot comes together, it all makes sense.

Keri, I would suggest you start with The Night Circus. It'll familiarize you with Erin Morgenstern's writing.

So jealous! I love Mercy and Adam! I've been collecting the series since I randomly picked Preying for Mercy (books 1-3) as a free book for joining the sci-fi book club and fell in love with the series!

Denise (drams5) | 405 comments Hi everyone-
I wanted to pop on and report that I finished The Match and I finished Verity. I haven't updated GR or the spreadsheet yet, but since I'd claimed a mini-task for Verity I wanted to let you know it's done. I'll try to get on my laptop in the next day or so to officially update.

Hope you're all well!

Sophie!

If you're still up for joining the buddy read for Empire of the Vampire mid June, then here is our thread :-)

BR thread

Anyone else interested in joining, please feel free to! The more the merrier.

message 423: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Ooh there's a EOTV buddy read? I may join, I have literally 3 copies of that book (2 hardbacks and an audio) but have yet to start reading any of them. I could do with the push.

message 424: by Insiyah (new)

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 609 comments Why do you have three copies of the same book?

message 425: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments I preordered the Waterstones special edition, then discovered Goldsboro were also doing a special edition that looked nicer so ordered that too. I figured I'd see which one was nicer in the flesh then either sell or do a giveaway for the other. I've never gotten around to it. I then decided it may be easier on audio (I much preferred the Nevernight trilogy on audio) so used an audible credit for copy number 3.

Tl:dr : I developed a special edition book buying problem during lockdown :D

message 426: by Insiyah (new)

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 609 comments I don't have an editions addiction in general, but I could not resist buying the Slytherin edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I already have a boxed set of all seven books, but Slytherin!

message 427: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments I can't resist a book with sprayed edges or foil detailing on the cover particularly if it's an anticipated release but I don't usually buy more than one copy of the same book. I do have a couple of book subscriptions though so it has happened by accident a couple of times

message 428: by Mia (new)

Mia Anti | 158 comments Hi! everybody!
So i claimed the "instrument on the cover" one, and i'm starting to have regrets. I was initially going to read The Wolf Den , but 40 minutes in I realized it's too triggering for me. Tried to change it to This Savage Song but i just cant get into schwab's writing.

Does anybody else want to pick it up?

They are so pretty ! I would love to own the whole Slytherin edition as well. I'm using the excuse that my Harry Potter books are in 3 different languages and would like to own them all in English :D
I'm also eyeing the Mina Lima edition since a while now (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: MinaLima Edition (Harry Potter, Book 1))

You can take the space (task 37) for A that I claimed with Arsenic and Adobo. I don't think I will be able to finish it in time since the audiobook hasn't come through for me yet.

Mia and Amy: thanks for saying you won't get to things you have claimed. We've got about a week left on the mini and it would fantastic if everyone could go through and take the mini number away from away books they aren't going to finish.

If it works, I'll read it.

message 438: by Insiyah (new)

Great, I've switched out Fated Throne which I had down for "P" for one I've already finished as not sure when I'll get to Fated Throne but unlikely to be by end of the month. The People on Platform 5 which is down for "I" will be finished tomorrow, I'm just waiting on them releasing the final part.

For MPG Humor, it'll either be Lessons in Chemistry which is the one I've put down against it or The Rosie Effect which I'm further on in.

I'm also working my way through the backroom BOM, so have added it to the s/s
