I like how each section kind of hops between characters and times and birds. I'm curious if the birds will play a bigger role in the end. I also enjoy that some sections are short and others longer as needed. The actual story is so sad and I hope to learn more about the region.



It is very heavy and I sobbed.
I loved how Colum McCann wove threads from Let the Great World Spin and TransAtlantic throughout this book. Philippe Petit was featured in Let the Great World Spin.
I wish that I had read them closer together to see all of the threads more clearly.

It is all very heavy but important. I appreciate that he breaks it up a bit with the birds, history and adds some levity when appropriate.
Wow!! Thanks for the tip on connection to his other books. I've only read Let the Great World Spin but apparently that was in 2013 and I totally forgot the MC's name. I did think it was an odd but interesting tidbit to add in especially when he tried to release the bird midway.
I am excited to read it.
