A Good Thriller discussion

I’m about to read Ken Folett. Any particular book mato recommend as a start?

Guillermo: I would start with EYE OF THE NEEDLE (1978), which was Follett's first bestseller and put him on the map with thriller fans. I also enjoyed THE KEY TO REBECCA from 1980.

I just started Sundial by Catriona Ward. Only about 30 - 40 pages in and the suspense is already building.

Now starting WAY DOWN ON THE HIGH LONELY by Don Winslow. This is the third novel in his Neal Carey series that was originally published in the early 90's.

I have been picking up the 30th anniversary hardcover editions as they have been published this year.

Now starting DEUS X by Stephen Mack Jones, the fourth novel in his ongoing mystery/thriller series set in modern day Detroit and featuring ex-cop, former Marine, and OEF veteran August Snow.

Heaven's Prisoners by James Lee Burke. For some reason, when I started these (before eBay, Amazon, etc.), my local library only had from Black Cherry Blues on. I had always meant to read the first two books in the Robicheaux series but never did. I'm finally rectifying this as I've now read The Neon Rain and a little over halfway through his second book.

Now starting PLAY WITH FIRE by William Shaw, the fourth and final novel in his mystery series featuring homicide detective Cathal Breen and former WPC Helen Tozer, set in London back in 1969.

A Different Kind of Gone by Catherine Ryan Hyde is another thoughtful novel with two women facing an ethical dilemma.

Now starting A LONG WALK UP THE WATERSLIDE by Don Winslow. This is the fourth novel in his debut mystery series that he originally wrote back in the early 90's. I have been picking up the 30th anniversary hardcover editions as they have been released this year.
