Amy | 327 comments Good morning, Team! I'm planning to finish the BOM today, and I'm wondering if there are instructions somewhere on what I should do regarding my discussion posts to link to? It's been so long since I've done a challenge that my memory is rusty

Skye Blue ☆*~゚ლ(´ڡ`ლ)~*☆ (surendraskye) | 19 comments I need to make a change to the MOD sheet, but it won't allow me to.

I finished Him on May 4th...but I put it under Sonia, and it should be under Kelly.

I just finished Fatal Shadows May 9th, that I want to put under Sonia.

Can someone help me fix?

You can either post the links to your answers to the DQs here, or directly into the BOM tab on the spreadsheet. As long as there are 3 days we get extra points :)

I got a fair bit through Man-Made How the bias of the past is being built into the future by Tracey Spicer on the train today.
It is very concerning how AI is being developed and deployed! Especially for non-cis males, people of colour, and those with disabilities. I’m actually feeling overwhelmed with the size of the problem!! Hoping as the book continues she finds some silver linings in research and government responses to this… 😳

thank you.

Can you please post
Fatal Shadows (The Adrien English Mysteries, #1) Skye 9-May-2023 for Sonia under Mods

Idk know why I can't edit.
Maybe because I'm using my borrowed work laptop while my personal laptop is being fixed.

Or...The tabs for last 4 tabs are locked....maybe I'm not supposed to be making changes there?

message 262: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments Could we put a link to the Mini challenge in one of the top posts? It's not too much work to scroll down to message 50 but I think I will be doing it a lot..

I added the book I read over lunch, which was short but had wide margins: Two Lives: Gertrude and Alice, and then put in some books that I started and hope to finish sometime in the vague future, mostly for book clubs.

One is a huge chonker (900 pages! nonfiction!) but the book club isn't until next month. Does it count if I start in May but finish in June? (I tend to read dozens of books at a time). And I noticed I had one set as a paperback and when I switched it to kindle since I'm reading an ebook it jumped to 400 pages. So that's nice!

It is Eurovision and Mothers Day weekend! Woot

What are everyone’s plans?

We watched the first semi final last night and I thought it was one of the best. I also absolutely loved Hannah Waddingham as a host and her dress! I want it!

My faves were Moldova, Serbia, Sweden and Finland. I also liked Malta - great staging!

message 278: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments Eurovision is not really a thing in Brazil, so I don't really know anything about it LOL

But it is Mother's Day here this Sunday. It's going to be a bittersweet one, as we'll be scattering my grandpa's ashes on Sunday as well.

Australia has had a funny relationship with Eurovision. Due to our large migrant population it has been broadcast here for 40 years but mostly seen as a bit of a side-joke by many. People would always laugh when I said we watched it each year and had Eurovision parties haha
But since we were allowed to compete (we are in Europe don't you know?! haha) I've noticed it gets a lot more media coverage and has gained more popularity.
I used to be able to just ignore social media for 24 hours to not know the winner and then watch the finals another weekend with a friend of mine from Melbourne. But that isn't the case anymore and we need to watch them when broadcast or we get spoilers :(

All the best for Sunday - that does sound bittersweet.

I am seeing my mum for High Tea today and my mother-in-law and all of my husbands family will be over this afternoon and tonight (24 of us :o ) .
No idea about Sunday - if it is nice weather then a bike ride with my husband and kids and maybe just fish and chips by the river

message 280: by Beth (new)

Beth | 1659 comments I expect to get breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. Then I'll go out to lunch with my son and maybe have dinner with my sister and her family. It'll be nice.

I hope to start Sunday with some waffles, then I'll go out to the garden for a while. My daughter will cut my hair for my spring shearing, and then we are planning to see the Guardian's of the Galaxy movie in the afternoon. I am hoping for a relaxing day.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Hi all! Just a quick post before I go to bed (Just got home from work after a particularly busy 12 hour shift)
Had a busy week... Went to the community yard sale when I got off work Thursday morning (bought a ton of cookbooks), dropped them off at home, went to get lunch then to the library book sale that started at 2 pm (bought a ton of books there as well). Was awake for over 24 hours! Slept late into the afternoon on Friday. My son and I went out for Cinco de Mayo during my 1 day "weekend" (my boss gets confused and reads midnight as the night before instead of the morning of... i.e. Wednesday night instead of Thursday morning, so she thought she was giving me Thursday off when I actually worked 8 hours Thursday). Ended up sleeping most of Saturday because I had to go in at 8 p.m. for a 12-hour shift. Worked Sunday night as well. Monday, go t home took a nap and then went out to dinner with my son to celebrate my birthday. Lazed around the house Tuesday because I was exhausted. Birthday was on Wednesday, but ended up sleeping most of the day because I had to go in at midnight for Thursday morning shift, off at 8 am, back in for 8 pm shift for 12 hours... another 12 hours for 8 pm Friday night and tonight... luckily I am off from 8 am Sunday until midnight Wednesday. I'm ready for a break! I think that catches me up...

I did finish a book while at work. GR has the page numbers different from the copy I read. They claim 352 but the copy I have is 377. Same ISBN#. This one is also doing that weird thing where the hover info is different than the book linked, even though the link is from the book's GR page. Wonder why it does that for some of the books

Love the dog picture. Glad the team is doing so well. I will try to get something else read during my days off.

Louise | 3331 comments Tati wrote: "I should finish my 400 pages book either today or tomorrow. Should I aim for a specific page range for my next book?"

We have completed our minimum requirements for the lower page counts. This is where we are with the rest

400-499 => 18/30
500-599 => 10/20
600+ => 1/10
Free choice => 30/103

We have 11 600+ books read/claimed and 29 - 400-499. We are struggling with 500 -599 as we only have 13 read/claimed.

Omg that sounds exhausting! I hope you get some days off this week

We can check your page count on Amazon and if it says 377 then can update GR.
Don’t worry about the link preview - it is a weird ongoing issue that we noticed in UNO. When you click it though it works

Louise | 3331 comments @Skye please add Suck This, Neil Patrick Harris to your TT shelf.

@Nistha Tokyo Ghoul, Tome 1 the website link you have provided only gives an estimate of wordcount. We need a verified wordcount form a site such as arbookfind or a link to an audio that is longer than 3 hours

message 297: by Nistha (new)

Nistha | 333 comments Louise, I checked in ARbookfind but it does not have this book. I don't think there is an audiobook as well for this. I googled and cannot find any websites doing a verified word count for this book (or even Manga in general). I guess we can remove this one then from the list.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments hi all, just checking in. Saturday was busy with my daughter playing netball in the morning then immediately having to get changed, do hair and make up and fly home as her dance team were performing at a local festival.

Sunday and Mother's Day, I pretty much hibernated. We'd seen my mum and given her her present on Saturday and as I woke up with a headache i didn't much other than play video games and watch netball.

I have never much been into Eurovision though i have friends who have Eurovision parties religiously every single year LOL

I finished Steeping Secrets: The Magical Tea Room Mysteries last week and have started on Chain of Thorns so I will update Goodreads and spreadsheet as soon as I can and I will also be on the look out for 500-599 books to read also.

Work looks like it might be a little crazy this week so not sure how much reading I will get done but I will do my best

message 300: by Amy (new)

Amy | 327 comments Good morning all and Happy Monday! It sounds like lots of you have had busy weekends! Nikki, that sounds like a very active Saturday followed by a well-deserved resting day on Sunday :) Sorry you had a headache, though!

My weekend was pretty uneventful as my husband worked all weekend, so I just spent time with my 1-year-old. We got out of the house both days but unfortunately the weather was pretty gloomy all weekend, so I was bummed that we couldn't bust out some outdoor things. I really should have planned better and gardened over the weekend since it would have been nice weather for that! My hubby promised me a day next weekend that he would spoil me rotten since he missed Mother's Day, so I'm going to hold him to it ;)

I didn't get any reading in over the weekend, but thankfully I get a lot of downtime at work that I can catch up this week.
