Ok, so I figured this out with Helena's help before, but I cannot remember what topic it was in. I was trying to help someone set up their GR account and wanted to set their feed to get book updates only. I thought it was on the "feeds" tab, but it wasn't. Anyone know what I am talking about?

Something that I struggled with when they got the new update, was how to update my progress on a book when my list was so long that I couldn't reach it anymore. Go to the same place you go to change editions, and voila! Same way as you knew before.

Hey does anybody know how to delete or leave a group? I got into one that wasn’t what I thought it was 🤪

@Mollie, unfortunately you can’t leave groups in the app. You have to use the browser version of Goodreads. You can login to Goodreads on your phone’s browser, go to the group you want to leave and there should be an option to leave it :)

Ok so I messed up on a book thing and it says I read it 2x but I only read it once. Does anybody know how to fix it to we’re it’s says I read it once? It’s Messing up my reading challenge 😥

Mollie, you can do that from the "My Books" tab. (It is one of the rare functions that you can actually do from your phone.) From "My Books", click on the book and scroll down to "Add or Edit dates read" and click on that. You should see all the dates GR thinks you've read that book. Click "Delete Session" for the dates you want deleted. I hope that helps!

Hey all! I need help again. I am helping someone get their goodreads account set up, and she is having a problem with too many phone notifications. I have mine set up to only get notifications on the app. I do not get any phone notifications, but I cannot remember how I did that. I have her account set to notifications only, just like mine, and I have it set to no emails, just like mine. So why is she getting phone notifications when she is not on the app?? Thanks!

Hey, Sharon! Try going to notifs, and clicking "View all notifications". From there (should be on the right side) click "manage my notifications". There you can set what you want emails or notifs for. Now from there, you could click "back to account settings" ORRR...

Go to her profile, and click "edit profile". Click on the tab "emails". There you can set if you get emails "Never", "Once a day", "Once a week", and stuff like that, as well as more options than the first way I showed you.

Thanks, Helena. I had already done that, but followed your instructions to double check. Sure enough, all looked well. However, the more I thought about it, the more I though this may be something she needs to set in her phone settings for the app, rather the GR app. She said she would try that next. Thanks for the help, nevertheless!

You can’t make a group on the app, but if you sign in on the website on your phone then you can make a group there!

Every time I check my groups, I see a number of new notifs, as is normal, yanno? But when I click on them, it suddenly marks more as unread and places me further back. Does anyone else have that problem? It's bugging me.

How do you fit the background photo to a group? (Lily, you might know this. :) )

I think you have to do it on the website, and when you go to the group you want, go to Edit Group Settings, and then go to the right side of the page and something about the picture should come up.

Yes, but my photos are all too big. How do you shrink them?

Helena, you’ll have to download your pictures and edit them manually to fit whatever size Goodreads requires. Don’t quote me on it, but I believe it should say the size on where you’re uploading it to.

Does anybody know how to take a book off of currently reading? Even if you dnf it?

You go to the book page and the button that says reading or something like that. Click that and at the bottom it will say remove from this shelf. That will end it :)

As far as I'm aware, that's just for Kindles. You can add quotes, but not in a private folder or file. It would be a public quote.

It might be a stretch, but if you really want book quotes stored on Goodreads, what you could do is make your own group, but make it private and invite only so no one else joins. Then, make a topic thread for each book and each post in that thread could be a direct quote from the book.

I can't help, Helena. I didn't know it was an option. I just created a shelf/tag for me to know I group-read the book.🤷‍♀️ (You are referring to your own book shelf, right?)

But seriously, I just went to my profile to try and it let me copy an image just fine. I am on my MacBook at the moment, so idk if it's possible on a phone.

If you copy/save the picture to your computer, you should be able to upload it to your Goodreads account :) Just go to your profile picture, hit 'more photos' and then in the right hand corner there should be a "add more photos" option.

Goodreads needs to UPDATE

I know...I've been looking for alternatives. One of the main reasons I still keep mine is because the app lets you scan books, but lately that hasn't been working at all. I'll scan a book and some completely different book shows up.

Hi Nessa! Go to your profile page and scroll down almost to the bottom where you will see "Nessa's Groups". Click on the group you want to leave, click "Edit Membership", then click "Leave Group." I did this on the website. Not sure if it can be done on the app.
