Mark Tierno (mark_tierno) | 86 comments Cyberdawn: Beginnings

Welcome to the first book in my 5-book epic, a unique tale where cyberpunk meets fantasy meets biblical-level conspiracies. A mixed-genre blend for lovers of paranoid fiction, where in a world of peace and prosperity nothing is safe. For there are things that creep through the shadows, wear human form like a cheap mask, and have permeated every level of our society. They spy on us through more means than the most emphatic conspiracy theorist would dare to suspect, manipulating our world to ready it for… what?

So glimpse now a little piece of Cyberdawn, of an Earth in the not too distant future where, as it turns out, we were never paranoid enough…

Earth is entering a new age of peace. No weapons, countries ready to put down their armies, every home benefiting from megacorp generosity, but if you’re Black Jack Hannigan this sounds a bit like fattening up the calf before the slaughter.

He’s seen them, creatures straight out of mythology. Winged tigers, ghouls, werewolves, they all exist; all part of the same millennia-old conspiracy. The “People” are manipulating our society, readying us for sacrifice to their Masters unless Black Jack and his friends can bring their schemes to light.

Black Jack will soon discover he is not the only one that has run afoul of these creatures and their conspiracy, and soon he and his team are combining efforts to crack the mystery and not fall under the People's control. An investigation that will take them on the road to an ancient site long buried in New Mexico and the heart of the People's goals.

It will take a new generation of weapons being developed by the icy Dr. Rebecca Winter to protect a defenseless world against these creatures, and even then it’s a race. For once the People have opened the Eye of the Apocalypse it’s all over. The Masters will consume our world, just as they have countless others before us.

Cassandra Lee | 4 comments Hello! I am a new author and published my first book! I published to Amazon. Feel free to message me and please leave a review if you read it. Thank you!

The first book in the “Fog” series follows Cassidy and her siblings while they try to adjust to a new life after being taken from their mother and placed in a foster home.

Cassidy and her siblings did their best to stay out of the way. Keep quiet and keep their heads down and no one would bother them.

Their mother did not seem to care anymore and was gone all the time. School was their safe haven and they all loved it. That is until a call to child protective services changed their lives forever.

Separated from their mother, the children soon find out just how negligent she was and how her actions caused them to be very different from other children.

Cassandra Lee | 4 comments I'll download it and read it! Great job getting a book out there!

Edited to add:

The premise of the story is good! Might I recommend that the sources you have maybe just list the sources on the acknowledgement page? It was a little odd to me that the sources for a fiction novel were used and cited like a research paper. The rules for fiction are a bit different.

THE GALACTIC ISLAND (TGI) is the fulfillment of a two decades long promise I made to my daughter Brittney during one of our visits in the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. She was just 14 years old at the time and I was entering my third year of incarceration after being wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life in prison. I asked her, among other things, what kind of books she enjoyed reading and her answer surprised me. Not the part about fantasy being her favorite genre, but the part where she mentioned there weren't any characters who looked like her in the books she read... the year was 2004.

That same afternoon I promised my daughter I would write her an adventurous tale and that the main character on the cover of the book would look exactly like her. Little did I know that it would prove to be one of the most challenging things I would ever set out to do. The extent of my experience as a writer back then mostly involved essays and articles about the need for prison reform. When it came to writing fiction I had no idea where to begin. It took me nearly three months to read an average sized fantasy novel because I kept getting frustrated with trying to figure out all the weird names and terminology the author was using. It seemed beyond ridiculous that an adult would talk that way. For Brittney's sake, I immersed myself in all sorts of fanciful stories about wizards and flying serpents and elves and talking animals until one day, my desire to create a magical world tailored to my daughter's taste for adventure could no longer be contained. Thus, The Galactic Island was born.

TGI is no ordinary book of fantasy. It is a meticulously crafted ‘’treasure map'’ that was twenty years in the making; a unique tale the likes of which the world has never seen. The book features a hieroglyphic chart called the Key of Adwah—the only tool in the entire universe which can decipher the hidden messages within the story. There is also a list of secret clues buried in the text of TGI, clues that unravel a mystery so grand that there is now talk amongst my team of launching a global contest in search of readers who can crack the code and discover the real story the book actually tells. The winners of said contest will be given the option to claim their ''riches'' in one of two ways: gifts and prizes or providing the name of a main character in the next installment of the TGI series and receiving a percentage of the royalties from that particular book. As soon as the contest website becomes available, I will post the link right here so that everyone can join the quest to solve the mystery of TGI. In the meantime, read the synopsis on Amazon and then get ready for one helluva ride! (eBook edition of TGI will be available soon!)

Anne Riley | 28 comments Hello Fellow writers. I am new to this group. It has been fun to explore all the amazing books you are writing. Congratulations! I know how hard it is to get a book finished much less published.

I don't stick to one genre, and my new book is my first venture into Science fiction. DINA: Nature's Case For Democracy makes the case that democracy is one of the most successful survival mechanisms on Earth and has been around for 2 billions years. Humans have come late to the game of life and are unique among all creatures. Because they think and choose, humans don't have the same quality checks that other creatures face. Now humans find themselves at the knife's edge of extinction.

Dina, a mysterious and nearly invisible creature, has chosen Sara Wallace to learn how humans can learn from the natural world and perhaps prevent their own destruction. Follow this unlikely pair as they survey the history of the world as well as the future from this new perspective.

The Kindle version will be $.99 from 2/26 to 2/28. Check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CS57YBYB?...

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!

Carmen | 1 comments Hello everyone,
In my new book, Eusebio's Tale: Book One of the Way of Deep Time SeriesI explore the idea of a society—the Participating World—that is run by an all-seeing algorithm that pays you according to your power and status. Eusebio escapes this psychological hell and makes his way to a mysterious, insular community in northern Argentina. There he learns he has an ‘old brain’ that can perceive Deep Time, also known as biosemiotics.
But there are other forces at work. The Storks are a race of computer hybrids who live secretly among wildtype humans. Because of the double Turing effect, they find one another repulsive. Like the Participating World, their society is breaking apart from the stress of its internal contradictions. When a rogue Stork sets up an illegal neurocloning project, he sets in motion a world conflict that will force Participants, Non-Participants, Storks and Wildtypes into abrupt discoveries both beautiful and life-threatening.
Check out this first instalment of the Way of Deep Time. Eusebio’s Tale is an immersive, richly imagined world that takes on the collisions of humanity, nature, and technology. It will make you think about the ways we live today, and where we are heading.

Adam Sikes (adamsikes) | 5 comments Hello,
My name is Adam S. Sikes. I published my first novel in January of this year and am working on the follow-up.

My first novel Neural Echoes is an ode to the classic Gibson-style cyberpunk novels of the 1980s. It is gritty and dark, with a little humor to pull you along. I am nowhere close to Gibson's level yet, but I felt this story needed to be put out into the world.

I tend to write free-form with a thin outline and goal, but my characters start directing me as I write. I blame this on decades of tabletop role-playing games. The party is there to mess up the DM's plans.

I hope you enjoy my Novel, and if you do, stay tuned because this old punk has a few more up his sleeve.

Here's my latest novel. Hope you'll check it out.

Oh my God! Debbie’s been abducted by aliens.

She wakes up to find four of them looking down at her. They have very big needles, but before they can use them on her Debbie is rescued by a stranger who can’t remember who she is. The aliens have memory-blocked her.

Naming her Ellen because she was good at taking down aliens too, Debbie sets off with her on a voyage across the universe. Hunted all the way by the aliens who want their ship back, Debbie and Ellen discover a cosmos filled with civilizations. All of them also want something: community service for sleeping in a public place, pirates with a ransom to collect, a secret military from a mysterious ghost ship, and the emperor of the entire universe who wants nothing more than a nice dinner. As they negotiate their way through it all, making friends and enemies along the way, Debbie and Ellen search for answers to the questions: who is Ellen, where does she come from, why is she aboard this alien ship, and why are these aliens abducting people from Earth?

Somewhat Lost: It Was One Bottle of Wine is a sci-fi first-contact space opera in which Debbie discovers almost no one out there has heard of Earth and it might be better if it stayed that way.

"Packed with intrigue, action and creative energy, Selfies is breathlessly paced, combining the near-future sensibilities of a William Gibson novel with the wrongfully accused thriller tropes of yore." — BlueInk Review

"5 out of 5...A compelling, series-opening science fiction novel." — Forward Clarion Reviews

PURSUED BY THE international police and formidable space militia for a murder he didn’t commit, Wallas "Trapp" Trapmore finds himself in a desperate race against time. His mission: to clear his name and stop an attack that could wipe out all of humanity.

After narrowly surviving a deadly three-year ordeal as part of an indentured mining contract, Trapp returns to Terra with a chance to rebuild his life. But this chance is short-lived when damning footage is posted to the worldwide Plexus of the so-called “Indent” fleeing the scene of a high-profile murder. And, the victim is none other than the man Trapp held responsible for the death of his mother.

Now the most recognizable fugitive on the planet, Trapp is relentlessly pursued by law enforcement who are determined to see justice served. With his future hanging by a thread, his fate rests in his ability to make friends out of enemies while hiding in plain sight.

Forced to solve two murders and prove his innocence, Trapp uncovers a more sinister conspiracy—one with far-reaching consequences that will affect the entire planet. Can Trapp and his ragtag team of allies stop a decades-long battle for the very soul of Terra? Or will shadowy figures wielding the deadliest weapon ever conceived succeed in unleashing total devastation upon humanity?

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) | 172 comments Singularity by Sherri Fulmer Moorer

The year is 2124 and Senara and Killian are newlyweds excited to work toward being the first convergence community to relaunch Artificial Intelligence five years after the Prion Pandemic which almost wiped out humanity across the globe. Achieving ‘singularity’ is the best way to increase their chance of survival and rebuild this strange new world into something better than the one that almost died along with two-thirds of the population. As the survivors gather into convergence communities across the country to rebuild reality from the remnants of the old world, they all ask themselves the same question – this time, will we be safe?

And they were beginning to think they were until a young woman died from an infection that the AI should have cured, just weeks after the Phase One rollout. It’s dismissed as a random failure until someone else falls ill, then another … and another. Senara and Killian work to stabilize the AI and are shocked to discover that it might have contributed to the pandemic that almost killed the world. Worse yet, it might not have been completely dormant over the past five years and is just waiting for them to flip the switch to give it full control of what’s left mankind.

Will Artificial Intelligence help humanity achieve evolution, or drive it to extinction?

Singularity, coming August 1.

Fin Friday | 14 comments Hello everyone,

My name is Fin Friday. I’ve just released my first book on Amazon.

Dream State: A Josh Holland Sci-Fi Thriller
Available now in Kindle format (.99c limited time promo in US and many other markets), and paperback (457 pages)
The Amazon US book page is here:
https://a.co/d/7gX6Ytc

It's a near future, hard science fiction novel wrapped around the plot of a thriller at its core. Sci-fi readers said they loved the technological advancements and gadgets, and reviewers across multiple genres have consistently said it's a page-turner!

Here is a brief description:
An unexpected discovery in a university lab gives graduate student Josh Holland the chance to change the destiny of mankind, but an unknown adversary has seen what he can do and will stop at nothing to obtain his secret. Josh and his friends must navigate unforeseen danger and obstacles to make their dreams of the future a reality.

Please visit my website and join the mailing list to get the latest news from Fin Friday Books. I'll be blogging on what it's like to be a new author and provide updates on the next book in the series: The Typhon Labyrinth.

Check out my first blog Pen to Paper, which describes what drove me to write Dream State and the long journey it took to get here!

D. Gibb | 0 comments The Heroes of February 22nd, Volume 1

Hello, I'm D.B. Gibb.

My debut novel, The Heroes of February 22nd, Volume 1, the first book of The Abductee Chronicle series will be released on August 27, 2024 by World Castle Publishing.

It will be available in hardback, paperback, eBook, and audio book formats.

My story was sparked by a question:

If teens were abducted by aliens, how would their lives change?

The Heroes of February 22nd revolves around fourteen-year-old Zach Davidson and his friends. The heartache of being abandoned by his father, and raised by a single mother juggling three jobs to make ends meet weighed constantly on Zach’s mind.

Growing up as a late bloomer, black, and bisexual in a predominantly white, rural Utah town only amplified his struggles. Until he got abducted by aliens -- Then things got crazy

One evening at Blue Lake, Zach and his friends, Wilkie, Jeff, and Liza vanish after witnessing UFOs in Utah’s West Desert.

They awaken in an arid wilderness over two hundred miles away, devoid of any memory of their abduction or how they got there except for one revelation: they now possess supernatural abilities. Returning to civilization, they find themselves forced into a clandestine world of competing extraterrestrial empires, each vying for control over Earth through human proxies, all eager to employ Zach, Wilkie, Jeff, and Liza’s newfound powers.

D.B. Gibb’s science fiction novel, The Heroes of February 22nd, Volume I (or HOF22), is set in modern times and captures the spirit of “The Lives of Tao” and “The X-Files.”

Written from a historian’s perspective in 2114, it follows key players involved with the historically significant Blue Lake Event (a precursor to the Proxy Wars) on February 22, 2017. Fans of alternative history and science fiction about reluctant heroes thrust into a secretive world of alien abduction and conspiracies will enjoy reading The Heroes of February 22nd, Volume I.

If you enjoy Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Futurama, this is the book for you!

Vic follows a simple code of life--when stuck between certain death and certain death, always choose a third option.

On the verge of retirement, intergalactic thief VIC needs to pull of one more job; however, after failing to deliver the goods to the ruthless criminal Axle Prim, the wheels are set in motion for a final showdown that will either cost the lives of Vic and his friends or make him rich beyond his wildest dreams.

If all goes well, he might just save the cat too!

A space adventure that is equal parts satire, Just Vic will have you in LOL-induced stitches throughout.
