Sheila Welch (sheilakellywelch) | 10 comments Hi!

I have a give-away of my middle-grade/YA novel, WAITING TO FORGET, coming up here on Goodreads in September. In October, I'll be discussing this book with readers who belong to the Goodreads group: "YA Reads for Teachers (And Any Other Adults)."

This book was published by namelos and received great reviews from Kirkus, SLJ, Horn Book Guide, Library Media Connection and was chosen for several "Best of the Year" lists. Here's the link to WAITING TO FORGET on Goodreads:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

I hope to be "chatting" with you in October!

Thanks!
Sheila

Quick question. If your book can fit into multible categories can you post it in each of said categories? Mine is a fantasy but it falls into Christian fiction as well, and also young adult.

Fantasy and short stories are both okay as long as those genres truly apply to the work.

Gail (gailgaymermartin) | 4 comments Hi everyone. I wanted to share my news. I had a novel collecting dust in my file, one never published, after 54 published novels. Too long for the romances I write for, too different from the format, too. . . so it sat. With the opportunties in Indie pubbing, it now lives and I'm thrilled - Treasures Of Her Heart. Here's my latest info.
5 Star Review on Amazon - Treasures Of Her Heart
This story is engaging from the first chapter all through the book as Nikki, a fashion-buyer, leaves her career and moves to northern Michigan to help her elderly great aunt who is ailing and try to run her antique business. I truly enjoyed the book, as I hope you will too, as Gail Gaymer Martin has written another winner.

I'd love to hear what you think if you read this book I updated to my present ability and hope you love it.

I have a new book coming out in 3-4 weeks where I interviewed best-selling business and self-improvement entrepreneurs and will offer a synopsis of it next time I post if that is acceptable to the group. I'll be happy to offer a review copy to those who may be interested.

Other than that, I hope everyone is well and I look forward to contributing where I can :)

Aleks, you should create an author thread in Groups where that is acceptable. Then, once or twice a week, post something in your threads. That will cause us to see those posts in our daily digests. Info about your book is good for starters, but think about other things you can say. Make your thread interesting.

Could we have a Visionary fiction category? My books are spiritual, but not in the traditional sense...very cutting-edge. "Quantum-visionary" is my actual tagline, as shown on my website. Subject matter ranges from paranormal to fantasy to music, all with a quantum-visionary / quantum-spiritual foundation. Also, I didn't see anything for book cover design artists? I do both. Thanks!

Jerry (banjo1) | 14 comments Like Alan Furst with his, I invested a lot of research in this WW2 spy/thriller: "The Great Liars".

Jerry Jay Carroll. Jerry Jay Carroll, $14 trade paper (362p) ISBN 978-0-9898269-0-7

"This meticulously constructed thriller from Carroll delivers healthy doses of political conspiracy, paranoia, and pulse-pounding suspense. Oral historian Harriet Gallatin gets more than she bargained for when she begins recording the recollections of former Navy Lt. Lowell Brady, who now resides in an old-age home, but who, during WWII, uncovered a terrible secret about Pearl Harbor. And when Gallatin is ordered to report what Brady shares, what began as a routine assignment becomes a race against time and a battle for survival. Military absurdity and governmental betrayal are depicted with wit and humor in this provocative portrait of outsiders whose honor transforms them from respectable citizens to demonized agitators. Cantankerous, lewd, vulgar, and skillfully rendered by the author, Brady is as warm as he is infuriating. Carroll has crafted a crowd-pleasing page-turner, replete with cultural criticism and refreshing honesty."
Reviewed by Publishers Weekly on 08/22/2014

"The Pulitzer-Prize nominated journalist smartly centers this historical novel on a charming rogue.” --Kirkus Reviews

“. . . a heady brew of military history and conspiracy theory that will appeal to aficionados of both.”

--Kirkus Reviews

Plus, there are lots of sterling Amazon reviews you might want to check out.

Update: This just in from the popular Ace of Spades website:

"I'm about a third of the way through it, and it's a real hoot. A Smithsonian researcher has discovered, in a nursing home for retired soldiers, a former naval officer (and a bit of a rogue) who knows where all the bodies are buried, and who has somehow managed to keep himself out of the history books."

Cheers,

Jerry Jay Carroll

Trey Willis | 6 comments Tired of trophies, entitlement, and special little snowflakes? Me too, which is why I wrote a book about it. The catch? I'm what most people call a Mellinial, although I completely reject the term and prefer to be called a member of Generation Y, and truthfully identify more with the generational values of Generation X.

It's cynical and sarcastic and doesn't take itself that seriously, despite the seriousness of the issue.

Hello Everyone! My book, The Joy Channelings, are channelings I received over a two year period about how we can connect to the Joy that is a part of all of us. I had learned to channel prior to my daughter becoming critically ill, and I am so appreciative of the Sky helping me to find my faith again and show me the smallest things can bring the greatest of Joys. It changed my perspective from the sorrow of her having to relearn how to walk to the Joy of "look what she can do today - she can move her toe!" In learning how to change my perspective from sorrow to Joy, it changed how I was viewing everything in my life. I am happy to report she is completely healed, and it is my wish to share these Joy Channelings with anyone looking to find the Joy that is underneath everything, and sharing an easy way to connect to it.

message 435: by Wayne (new)

Wayne | 2 comments So I recently learned that self-published authors are selling less and less books today. The reason is that more and more people are becoming authors. Even giving away their book for free on Amazon hoping that they would get some review. The problem with that is most of these people are going to read their free books on their own time and may never even post a review. So how do you decide what book to read next and which authors are good and which are bad? I think this should be left up to the readers, because at the end of the day readers are the ones that matters. More important, how do you sift through the myriad of books to choose one. As a reader, I've gone through title after title and not know what book to pick. If you are a reader or an author you may have had a similar problem. Once a month The Premonition Review and its members select a group of books chosen by its members… its unbiased voting system is fair and I think most authors and readers will appreciate that cast your vote for your favourite books http://www.thepremonitionreview.com/#... share this community with friends and fans of your book. Good luck, hope your book makes the list. I am also the author of The Devil Inside the Book

When I first published my collection of 31 bedtime stories on Amazon in May, I thought that was the hard work finished. "Looney, wacky, imaginative and borderline crazy tales that McFarlane pens with absolute abandon." - Grady Harp, Hall of Fame Top 100 Reviewer / Vine Voice

"A Month of Bedtime Stories will keep children in fits of laughter as they imagine themselves playing the lead character in all these adventures." - Readers' Favorite

"I like this book so much because it always comes up with new stories that are funnier than the last one." - San Francisco Book Review

"Written with a great love of vocabulary, with a musical style [...] this book is not a month of bedtime stories, but a lifetime of them." - Carole P. Roman, Kirkus Best of 2012 Award-winning Author

"What I particularly like is the overt silliness that children enjoy with the hidden humour for the adult reader." - JB, Top 500 Reviewer / Vine Voice
