Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Jess and I have decided to add an Author of the Month Challenge. The challenge is to read (either for the first time or as a re-read) one book by the author that we are spotlighting each month.

For February, to complete the challenge you need to read one book by Ilona Andrews. Of course, if you want to read more than one, that's great too!

In this thread, please post which book you are planning on reading, and then when you are done with it, let us know how it was!

If you have any questions about this, please let Jess or I know! Have fun reading!

Here is a list of the books that Ilona Andrews currently has published:

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels #1)
Magic Burns (Kate Daniels #2)
Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels #3)
On the Edge (The Edge #1)
Silent Blade

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews

FYI - Although I am posting this discussion right now, it wont be open for comments until February.

Jess | 3721 comments I'm going to try to get a hold of Silent Blade. I've been meaning to read this one.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I am going to read Silent Blade as well as I have read her other ones. Jess, this one is on B&N for $2.50 as an e-book.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments I bought Silent Blade when it came out, but for one reason or another, haven't gotten around to reading it yet. As it's the only Ilona Andrews title I've yet to read, I'll try to make a point of reading it this month.

I'll have to look into that, because I don't think my library has it.

I couldn't get it through my library or inter library loan. Then when I saw it was cheap I ordered it. Hopefully I can get to it towards the end of the week.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 237 comments I LOVED Silent Blade! It's quite short but jam-packed. I was surprised the author managed to get so much into so few pages. Best short story EVER!

The only book I haven't read is On the Edge so I'll read that this month.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments Silent Blade is, I believe, only available in ebook.

That would be why we can't find it in our libraries.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 237 comments Whoops sorry, yes it's only available as an ebook. I downloaded mine as a 48-page PDF. A very short read but worth it.

message 11: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I've already read the Kate Daniels series and loved it especially Curran! So I'm going to read On the Edge. I'm also going to try and get the ebook for Silent Blade as well.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Thanks for the heads up! $2.50 is definetly worth it! I'm going to read that. Also, plan on reading On the Edge. I've started it and am really enjoying it so far!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I had a little time tonight and didn't want to start a new book so I thought I would read Silent Blade as it was only 50 pages.

My thoughts on this story is that it was very different at the beginning, but quickly devolved into a standard straight romance that in the end was a little schmaltzy and just ok. I think the whole concept of the families is an interesting one and given time like in a full length novel there would have been a lot to explore with that, the world, and the modifications and special powers that was talked about.

I am interested to see what those that choose this story think.

Rebekah (rowen1313) | 29 comments I plan to read On the Edge. I have never read any Ilona Andrews books so I am hoping that this will be a good book to start with. (Its the only one that was available from the library)

message 15: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments I loved Silent Blade, it's the only book of hers I've read so far, and well worth the price. I plan to read On the Edge, if I can acquire it in time. If not I'll do a re-read of Silent Blade.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I just decided to challenge myself to read all of her 5 books by the end of the month. So, I'm going to list them now and keep updating them when I finish them!

Magic Bites
Magic Burns
Magic Strikes
On the Edge
Silent Blade

Currently I'm about 2/3rds of the way through On the Edge and really enjoying it!

Rebekah (rowen1313) | 29 comments I read On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews.
I thought this book was really interesting in the way the author seperated the world into multiple dimensions. The story line was well writen and evenly paced, I look forward to seeing how the next installment comes along.

Just finished reading On the Edge and really enjoyed it! Great characters and story. Loved the two little brothers! They kept me laughing. I'm looking forward to the next book with William in it!

Up next, I think is Silent Blade.

I had previously read On the Edge (it is now one of my favorite books) and Silent Blade is a great short story. As part of the BOM I started reading Magic Bites and am hooked, I should be starting the third book tomorrow so I should have all her books read by the end of the month

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I just downloaded Silent Blade and plan on reading it today. I downloaded it using the Barnes and Noble ereader program. Anyone that doesn't want to buy it, but has the barnes and noble reader (or the free download on your computer) let me know. I can lend it out. It's pretty short so should have it read this afternoon! If you want me to lend it to you, send me the email address that you have registered with Barnes and Noble!

Finally got around to reading Silent Blade. It was pretty fun. I actually wish that she had done it as a full length novel though. I think that would have been a great story! Maybe this story will get her started on writing another series, one set in this world!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 237 comments Kelley Anne, what rating did you give Silent Blade?

message 23: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I haven't written my review of it yet. Debating on a rating is the biggest reason why! Probably a 3. I really enjoyed it. Liked the characters, thought that the concept was great, and would love to hear more about the world that she set up. But it was very short, so the characters and story line weren't developed anywhere near as much as I would have liked. I would have really enjoyed a full length novel of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will lead to another series for them to write. I think that the world concept could make for some great stories!
