My friend that reviews books reviewed The Demon in Me and she loved it. I am hoping the library processes the book soon for me to read it.

The Devil Inside is a good one too. The author just wrapped up that series with the exception of a short story out later this year. It is a different take on demons.

I believe the Devil inside was inspired by you reading it. I think... it's been about a month since I decided to get it.

I just got Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris and Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I am waiting to get Spirit Bound from the library. It is driving me nuts!

Let me know when you get it. Maybe we can read at the same time or something. I was going to wait for it, but I got impatient.

I'll let you know. I am in the first 5 and they ordered 30 copies, but the library is being really slow lately for processing books.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments Fruits Basket Ultimate Edition Volume 4 by Natsuki Takaya Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson I Can See You (book #10) by Karen Rose Silent Scream (book #11) by Karen Rose Just One Wish by Janette Rallison Just Listen by Sarah Dessen The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3) by Kelley Armstrong

hehe, I think that's the most I've ever gotten at once. :) A couple of those (Sunday's At Tiffany's, Just One Wish, and Just Listen, were bargain price books on barnes&nobles so I couldn't resist.) My mom finally let me use her credit card on the book depository so I got to get The Reckoning in paperback, I'm so excited!

BTW- I would recommend checking out Karen Rose books if you haven't already. They are for a "mature" audience. They have sex in them, and are pretty graphic in terms of gore; some of the murder scenes have made me want to throw up. =/ BUT they are still amazing. She writes romantic suspense and I have bought every single book by her, lol. I just love her that much.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Heather ~ Let me know what you think of the Michelle Bardsley and Diana Rowland books. They are some that I really like.

message 61: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I went to the used books store. I'm horrible though! There are all these great books, but if the bindings are broken or the edges smushed I won't get them.
I got the Briggs since I only own the first and the last. (Although, I might have it on Kindle.) It's also why I got Blood Noir.
The two Sands books are the only two the library didn't carry so that saved me from paying full price. I'm not sure what made me pick up the Rowland, but I'm glad to hear you liked them.
I've wanted to read Bardsley for a long time, but I never could tell which one was book 1. She doesn't always keep the list in front of her books in order. I hate when authors do that.
And the Dunant... It's probably historical romance with an art twist. I didn't really even bother reading the back. I just know she generally includes art and that was good enough for me.
If I can finish all these dang library books I can read all the ones I got from the store last time and take them back for more money.

message 62: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Bardsley reminds me of Mary Janice Davidson, so I think you will like her.

I can understand not wanting to buy books that have been well used. I sure wouldn't want to. I don't mind if library books are like that because they aren't "mine".

Ya. But if they do get ruined it has to be from me. Something I've read frequently. Not something someone else destroyed.

Jen I have a slight book buying addiction. Recently I've bought or pre-ordered:

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen Sunshine by Robin McKinley The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5) by Rick Riordan The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa [image error] Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) by Richelle Mead

My library has been crazy slow too. Someone there told me it's b/c of budget cuts. It can take them 4-6wks to get a book after it's been released. :/ Sooo frustrating! lol I blame them for my book buying "problem". ;)

message 66: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Finally Spirit Bound is in transit, so it is traveling to me. But the odd thing is that I had Bullet ready to pick up last Wednesday and it was released later.

There are a bunch of others that were released in May that I am waiting for too and I know that I am one of the first to get them. Some finally say pending so that means they are processing them.

Don't these libraries know we addicts need our fixes!! :)

I think they assume we'll live without a book in our hands, but they don't know us very well. When I'm bookless I turn into a crack junky and get the shakes. They need to fuel my addiction faster!

LOL... I'm the same way. I think that's why I continue to check books out of the library even though I have many books on my bookshelf that I've never read. They're my backup in case the library doesn't come through.

message 69: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments You guys are lucky! My library up here hardly have anything, and they will only do certain books for ILL. So far none of the ones I ask for I have been able to get.

AND - Darcy - your library ordered 30 copies of SB?! If I see our library has 2 or 3 it means it's a super popular book, lol.

I got Playing with Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl, #1) by Gena Showalter and Twice as Hot (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl, #2) by Gena Showalter from the library this week. And i'm going to buy The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer and The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan today!

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments This isn't actually a book, but it has to do with books so I'm just going to say this here: I GOT A NOOK! AHHH. LOL, I'm completely in love with it. <3 I wasn't sure how I'd feel about reading off of an ereader, but I'm pleasantly surprised to find out that I love it! =]

message 71: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Awesome Jasmine! The Nook seems pretty cool. We don't have them here, but I've looked at them online. You can borrow books via the Nook right? I think they have to be from B&N though. Too bad, I have lots of ebooks. I read tons of books on my phone, so now I only buy the physical books that are my favorites or new ones a lot of my friends like.

What format are the Nook books?

message 72: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I'm not sure the format for Nook ebooks, but those you can buy off the b&n website. The Nook can also read a lot of different formats, like PDF for example.

Yes, you can borrow certain books from a fried, and I think they have to be from b&n. There are some restrictions, like you only have it for two weeks and one book can be lent out only one time. It's still pretty cool though! =]

For me, it'd be hard to read entire books on my phone. I think the LCD and small screen would bother me. =/ I usually only read fanfiction on my phone.

I live in a big metro area with 41 libraries in my county that I can pull books from. It is rare when I can't get a book from there.

message 74: by Angela (new)

Angela B I love my nook and I can't wait to be able to use the lend feature but so far I don't have any real life friends that have one...sad
I'm glad you like yours Jasmine

message 75: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments LOL. I only know two people that have it. One of best friends has it, but we are kind of fighting right now, so I have no one to use it with either. =/

message 76: by Jen (new)

Jen I have an iPhone w/the Amazon app. I thought I'd have a hard time reading ebooks, but it's not that bad. I'd much rather read an actual book, but thanks to my phone, I can read while at work. hehe

Darcy- wow, 41 libraries? I thought I lived in a fairly large county w/5 libraries to pull from. lol That's awesome!

message 77: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Jen wrote: "Darcy- wow, 41 libraries? I thought I lived in a fairly large county w/5 libraries to pull from. lol That's awesome! "

I live in a 7 county metro, and the 41 are only my county, so with inter library loan I have access with tons more. Plus if I go to one of them I can check out with my card. Also MN is great in that if you have a card that is from a library somewhere in the state you can go to any other library in the state and check out stuff and return it to any one too. So if you go up north you can get books from there, then return them when you get back home. I haven't done that, but do think it is a great feature.

message 78: by Jen (new)

Jen That's awesome! I love that I can go to my libraries website & put books on hold & they email me when they arrive. So much more convenient!

That is what I do too. I mostly just run in and out to grab books. The only time I am in there longer is when my friends are working and then we have to stop and chat.

I saw this entire set (minus the latest one) on sale at BAM for $20 but wasn't sure if I'd like them. I've heard great things about them so now I'm kicking myself.

message 88: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Maybe if you go back they will still be there.

message 89: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments BAM? What's that?

aww. =/ I personally love the ones that I have read so far (the first two), and I'd recommend them. Maybe you should get them out from the library and try them out, that way if another great deal comes by you'll know if you should get it or not. :)

That is a great deal! I paid $6.99 for 7 of them, and then for the last one I paid $12.99. I bought them in ebook format so they were slightly cheaper. The last one, Lover Mine, is a lot more expensive in hardcover, so I'm content with the amount I paid. I wouldn't buy hardbacks or paperbacks even if the deals are amazing because the covers are so racy. My mom wouldn't want them on my bookshelf, LOL. She doesn't mind if I have them in ebook though. :)

message 90: by Jen (new)

Jen Darcy- true... It was a while ago but I'm actually going there today & will have to check.

Jasmine- BAM= Books a Million. I just figured they were everywhere. lol $6.99 for 7 is awesome! I wouldn't pay for an ebook... I only read the free ones. I'd much rather an actual book. But I can see where having the ebook is better if your mom has a problem w/them.

message 91: by Jasmine (last edited Jun 28, 2010 10:55AM) (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments OMG NO! $6.99 for every single one. LOL. I meant that the first 7 all cost the same. =] I WISH that it was $6.99 for 7 of them!

I actually like ebooks the same as/a little more than actual books; I find them a lot easier to read.

message 92: by Jen (new)

Jen LOL... ok that sounds more realistic. I don't mind reading ebooks (especially b/c I can sneak it while working). Plus my iPhone has an app for free ebooks. But I can read for much longer w/an actual book. Maybe I'm just getting old but the smaller print gives me a headache. haha

message 93: by Jasmine (last edited Jun 28, 2010 11:22AM) (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments ahaha, well on the ereader I use, the B&N Nook, the font size gets REALLY big, LOL. It has extra small, small, medium, large, and an extra large font size. It also has three different fonts to choose from, so it's easy to use something that suits you. =]

Since the reading screen on the Nook isn't LCD and is pretty big (kid of as large as a mass market paperback novel it's really easy for me to read and doesn't give me a headache. :)

My favorite thing is I can read while eating and it's really easy. With a book I have to prop it up and constantly wipe my hands to turn the page and it's really annoying for me to do. Now I just read all about the brothers while eating, LOL. And I just have to press down on the "next page" button to turn the page. (:

I think I posted it in another thread, but I'm in Ontario. If you are closer to Toronto they have so many libraries and unlimited books. I am very rural, and my town is super small. My actual library has hardly any books, but I can get some from there. They do some ILL, but they have to be older books, nothing that hasn't been out for a year or more.

message 97: by Jen (last edited Jun 28, 2010 04:42PM) (new)

Jen Jasmine- That does sound pretty amazing. I'll have to check out the Nook & maybe put it on my Christmas wish list. =)

So I went to BAM to look for the Black Dagger set & they didn't have it. =( But since it's pretty impossible for me to go into a book store w/out purchasing anything... I walked out with:

The Luxe (Luxe, #1) by Anna Godbersen Rumors (Luxe, #2) by Anna Godbersen Envy (Luxe, #3) by Anna Godbersen Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray
