I got book 1 from the library. I'm looking at it, but not picking it up. Seems to be becoming a pattern.
I didn't realize I still had plenty of time for Crescendo. I just saw that it wasn't expensive and grabbed it while I could.

I just pre-ordered Return to Paradise (Leaving Paradise, #2) by Simone Elkeles on amazon. Then I remembered I probably can't use it on my Nook (B&N doesn't have the ebook for so..."

Carrie....how do you strip the DRM? I have a Kindle but I have purchased e-books from other sites where I thought I was just getting a PDF/EPub file but I cannot read them on the Kindle which had a native PDF reader....

message 203: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I don't know how to do it for non kindle books. I think it depends where you bought them from and what kind of drm is on it.

I know how to the azw files with the kindle for pc program. All I did to find out how was google it. I googled strip drm azw (kindle file). I know there are ways to strip B&N drm, and I know there are people that can do library books so they can read them on their kindle.

I suggest looking around the web. Keep in mind it is borderline illegal in some places (not here in Canada). They need to change the laws. I understand some of the reasons behind it, but did you know even the author can't sell their books without drm if the seller puts it on?

Epub cannot be read on the Kindle, so if you need to convert it there is a free program called Calibre that converts to mobi for your kindle. It won't strip the drm though.

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Being able to order at anytime via my nook may become dangerous! I downloaded a bunch of samples and I know if I like what I read I will buy them.

Anywho, I just bought Everlasting by Angie Frazier on my nook. I think it looks different and I hope I like it since I only pay $10 for ebooks that I love or think I will love.

I haven't heard of it. Let me know.

message 206: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments It was recommended to me through Amazon. It has pretty good ratings so I figured I'd give it a shot. Plus I need an E book for the A-Z challenge. ;)

Thanks Carrie.....I will google it I don't want to do anything with the AZW files but I do have some epub books from B&N and others that I thought I could just convert to PDF to read on my kindle.....I will try the Calibre program...I don't necessarily want to take away the DRM just be able to put the book in a format that I can read on the kindle.

message 208: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments If the book had DRM on it it won't be able to be converted until it's gone. There are some epubs that don't have drm, so you can just try to convert them with calibre and it will give you a message if it has drm on it.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 185 comments Thanks again Carrie!

They get better. de la Cruz has issues with the climax of her books. She has this big build and then they just end quickly. With each book she learns to draw it out a bit more and keep the excitement going for a little while longer.

Just ordered:
Blue Bloods Keys to the Repository by Melissa de la Cruz Misguided Angel (Blue Bloods, #5) by Melissa de la Cruz

I wasn't going to, but she keeps popping up every where so I caved.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Heather - For me, Keys isn't worth the money, it is just a compliation book. Let me know what you think after you get it.

message 216: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I haven't bought it either. I am interested in seeing what is in it though. Was there any good info in there Darcy?

I usually buy the BB books at Costco, but maybe I'll do ebook Misguided Angel. Hmmmmmmm...

message 217: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments There were 1 or 2 new short stories, but most of it is information that we have learned in all the other books, just all gathered in one place. A good library read, but not worth the money.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I picked these up for a few bucks apiece at the used bookstore over the weekend. There were about 8 others I wanted to get, but couldn't go crazy. I have only frequented that bookstore a couple of times, and didn't realize how much they had for so cheap. The library and Nook may take a backseat for a while until I clean out their good stuff. :p

message 223: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I went to one used bookstore and the prices were only a dollar or two off from other bookstores, and most were even more expensive than from sites like bn.com and amazon. O.o

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Wow, that's a lot. I found one of the books for 3 bucks, and the other two were 4. All of the books were in like new condition.

message 225: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Some are cheaper, others aren't. You just have to know the prices when you go looking.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments In fact, I don't think I had much interest in going back to the used book store until someone had talked about it on here. I was happy with my trifecta of online ordering/library/Nook purchases. It was probably Heather...

message 227: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Sometimes they're only a dollar cheaper, but sometimes they're super cheap. I'll only get them if they're in perfect condition though. I generally use the used store to pick up books that look interesting, but aren't something I'd buy. Or something the library doesn't carry.

I have read both of these series. Am getting ready to read the 3rd one from Robertson. I think the 3rd or 4th just came out from Weldon and I am waiting for it from the library.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I normally get 1 or 2 good stories out of anthologies and the rest are junk. I'm saving Kisses for my October read.

message 232: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I find with all anthologies I only read the stories from the authors that I already read. I probably won't get to this book right away as I had a lot of holds come at once from the library.

message 233: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I feel your pain Amy. I just picked up 18 books on Tuesday, all holds with the majority being new releases. I now have 6 more on hold waiting for me to pick up. I will probably wait until the last day I can to pick up the new ones, giving me a chance to read the ones that I have and work the system a little to maximize the time I get to have the books, since with new releases I can't renew them as there is usually a wait list.

message 234: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I tend to do that as well. All the books will come in at one time and then im confused as to what to read first and all that kinda stuff. Im trying out a new system of reading only a few from the library and buying the ones i can so that i can read them on my own time. I really want to get a ebook reader but idk which one i want I like having books because u can touch them and see the pretty covers and not all that black and white mess. how can something be so expensive and not even be in color? smh

message 235: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I think they are developing technology where the e-ink is in color. I have no idea when that'll be out though, so you may have to wait a few years or more. . .

The Nook does have a small LCD display that's in color, so you can see the cover. It's just not in great detail.

I actually won't buy BD. I'll read the next one, but I won't pay for it. I've been doing good with my checkouts being between 10-20 recently. They were a bit higher for a while. I got down to 2 one day and then decided to read the Kenyon series and that killed it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I liked BC ok. It was good enough for me to want to read the sequel, but not one of my favorites. I'll probably try to library BD if the wait isn't too long.

Ethan sounded like a girl, but no book can be perfect...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Anyone read this book? The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore

I checked it out months ago and only got a chapter into it before taking it back. It was another one of those instances where I had too many books to read and not enough time.

Just curious if it's worth checking out again sometime.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I think I'll read Hush Hush over too. :) I re-read some of my favorite parts over and over, so I remember most of the books well, but I'm still going to re-read it because I'm in the mood for it, loll.

I think I've only watched one of those! Yay now I have something to do while waiting for the release. :)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments OMG! That guy. . .is so so so so hot. ahahah. I actually kinda did that voice where you aren't really screaming, because your parents are sleeping and would kill you for waking them up ;], and you do that whole high pitch but kinda voiceless thing. ahahha, that probably made no sense, ;). ANYWAY! Once I finished watching it I did that voice and said "ahhhhhhh! He's so perfect!" LOL. I loved when he said "You're mine, angel, you have me forever." I cannot wait for the book after seeing that!

The second one was the one I watched on Becca's site (the one where it's her playing Nora.) I liked the Patch one a lot more. :D

My favorite one is also the Patch one. :D
