Jen I made a library trip today & can never pass up their section where they sell used books. I bought The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong for $1.

Is it in good condition?

message 107: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments That's a good deal.

I got the UK adult Harry Potter box set Harry Potter Box Set (contains Books 1-6) by J.K. Rowling !!! I am missing the first 3 of my HP US collection of paperbacks mixed with the last few hardcovers, so I have been dying to get a whole set.

message 108: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments What do you mean by "adult box set"? Are there ones for adults and different ones for kids? O.o

and yayy! I must admit though, I like the U.S. covers more. =X

message 109: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Yeah, they have different versions for adults. I know the US and UK editions have some words changed, but I don't know if the adult versions do. I think they are just different covers.

I like the last 3 US covers, but I just like the look of all of them black with simple covers.

My friend bought the box set in Canada since they're not as kidish.

message 112: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments For those of you who have just bought the book Hex hall I recently read it and I think you will enjoy.

I have recently bought
1. The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner
2. The Morganville Vampires
3. The Awakening
4. The Reckoning
I won a Perchance to Dream as well as getting a new book from a used book store cant remember the name at the time though lol.

message 113: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I love the Morganville Vampires! They are a nice quick easy read with a good story, but beware of the cliff hanger endings. Make sure to have the next book ready to go if you hate those.

message 114: by Jen (new)

Jen Jasmine- yeah, it's actually in really good condition. My library is pretty good at only selling books that are nice.

I really like the UK adult HP books. I didn't realize they had different ones. I actually found the entire US set this past Christmas for $38. Not bad for 7 books. =)

I got Red Hot Fury (Shades of Fury, #1) by Kasey MacKenzie for our read and then found Swallowing Darkness (Meredith Gentry, #7) by Laurell K. Hamilton for $5 in hard back. Then, I went to the trade store and got rid of some of my old VHS tapes and used some of the credit from that to get:

Hotter Than Hell by Kim Harrison Faeries Gone Wild by MaryJanice Davidson Pride (Shifters, #3) by Rachel Vincent Confessions of a Werewolf Supermodel by Ronda Thompson The Taste of Night (Sign of the Zodiac, #2) by Vicki Pettersson Aphrodite's Secret by Julie Kenner Night Life (Nocturne City, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge

message 116: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Heather you got some really great books. I am interested to see how you like Red Hot Fury. I have high hopes for that one, but am still waiting for the library to process it. Hopefully it comes before the end of the month.

I'm worried about the Werewolf supermodel. I haven't heard anything about it. I know Pride is suppose to be good. The others were just on my TBR. There are a lot of good books to grab, but I'll only pick up the one's in perfect condition so that really limits my choices. I hate bent bindings!

message 118: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I have read the supermodel one, but it was a while ago. I thought it was good. I did like her Wild Wulfs of London better, which is odd as they are historical PNR and I don't normally like historicals.

message 119: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I only buy books in perfect condition too.

message 120: by Angela (new)

I own the Pride series, and I enjoyed it. I also own the supermodel werewolf book, it wasn't bad, wasn't great. There were definitely some funny parts (including the werewolf kit). Let me know what you think.

Lmao thanks they are interesting but I mad a mistake I make alot and started reading the Vamp on in the middle of the night when no one else is awake. So now im sitting up in the bed looking around lmao. Every sound I hear is like aaah. What makes it worst is its suposed to be historical and true accounts lol.

Hillarie - I think your page was where I must have seen it before. I'll let you know what I think.

Chakara - I can read vampires without being scared. If humans are involved I'm a wimp. Scream is as scary as I go and I definitely don't read scary stories. If you wrote the same story with a paranormal creature I wouldn't be freaked out since I don't think their existence is possible, or at least probable. I don't go to bed with vampire nightmares for some reason. (Although, Jurassic Park messed me up for life. If I go home to my old bed I'll dream of dinosaurs killing my parents and me trying to escape every night I'm there. Feel free to laugh at me.) For some reason I know that humans are capable of horrible, horrible things and that terrifies me more than the highly improbable vicious blood thirsty vampire attack. However, I do have great timing to attempt to freak me out. When an angry pack of wolves are gathering around and the main character is terrified, every dog in my neighborhood will start howling at that moment. Stuff like that happens to me often.

message 128: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Heather, I am the same way. The only scary PN thing that can really creep me out is ghosts/possessions. Not all of them freak me out, but things like Amittyville will give me nightmares. Or that movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose, holy crap it scared the crap out of me. When it gets close to 3 am, I try not to look at the clock for an hour if I am alone! I guess it's because to me these are things that can/do really exist.

message 129: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I just re-ordered Sisters Red (Sisters Red, #1) by Jackson Pearce and then ordered Angel Star by Jennifer Murgia and Sea by Heidi R. Kling while I was at it. Since I'm not getting my mail here I figured I'd order it to my Dads since I'm going to visit in a couple weeks.

Yeah its just things that are in history that relate to vamps in any way like this Quuen they called the Blood Queen uuugh she was very creepy. tortured young females for her pleasure killed them and rumor is she bathed in their blood to keep herself young. Plus this book has lots of disturbing pictures. Mostly I can read fiction horror but this is considered to be factual and pulled from historical accounts. Most of the accounts can be explained but some are just weird like that queen.

I bought books, but they weren't for me. Whimper.
I bought all of the Kate Daniels books for my friend that lives in ATL. I thought she should read about her city being destroyed.
Then, I got her addicted to Kat and Bones by letting her borrow my kindle and then taking it away before she could finish. I was mean.

Karma Girl wasn't amazing, but I have a co-worker that LOVES them. He has to read them when his wife isn't around since she only lets him read religion texts. I figure I'll sneak them to him when I'm done with them. I'm curious to see what happens in the series though.
I needed to own all of the Night Huntress's and Mercy books. I have one Mercy left to get. It was there, I just thought I had already had it at home.

Hmm, let me guess... the Aphrodite's are the ones you haven't read?

message 138: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Yes, I thought I had. Her books that aren't the Soccer fighting demon hunting books are so hit or miss for me that I haven't made an effort. Let me know what you think of them.

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

All books that I am very excited to read but not sure when I'll be starting them!

I got Blue Bloods for only $2.99 (paperback) and Linger for around $10! I love bn.com! Their sales are amazing, and the hardcovers online are usually MUCH cheaper then anywhere else. I'd recommend getting Linger from them (if you are going to in the future) because its about 45% cheaper I believe.

There's something a little cheesy about them, but you love them anyway. They're not as cheesy as Argeneau or Love at Stake though... Now, on the concept of cheesy books you love...Michelle Rowan Bitten & Smitten (Immortality Bites, #1) by Michelle Rowen . This was the first series of "cheesy" vampire books that I read. At the time I was embarrassed because I loved them. Now, I don't care. I wish the series wasn't over.
