Ana | 32 comments CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

Also I really liked the following from the half blood prince:

"And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her."

message 203: by Alya (new)

Alya (alya_n96) "Give her hell from us Peeves" - Fred and George Weasley

"That's my daughter you Bitch!" - Molly Weasley

"Always" - Severus Snape

"There's the Silver-lining I was looking for" - Ginny Weasley

And my all-time favorite:

"...he could not see any of the people he loved, no hint of Hermione, Ron, Ginny or any of the other Weasleys, no Luna. He felt he would have given all the time remaining to him for just one last look at them; but then, would he ever have had the strength to stop looking?"

Ishani (ishanig) | 425 comments It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it isn't real?

Not my daughter you b***h!

Bloody hell!

Wicked!

And this one, I know this is not a dialogues but I love it-
His hand automatically closed around the fake Horcrux, but in spite of everything, in spite of the dark and twisting path he saw stretching ahead for himself, in spite of the final meeting with Voldemort he knew must come whether in a month, in a year or in ten, he felt his heart lift at the thought that there was still one last golden day of peace left to enjoy with Ron and Hermione.

The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.

Amitykitty | 15 comments I love all of the funny lines that J K Rowling wrote, but I think that my absolute favorite line is:

"Always."

Sweetest. Romance. Ever.

message 210: by Emily (new)

Emily | 7 comments i love Dumbledores words of wisdom:
it is our choices that show us who wa are, far more than our abilities. - chamber of secrets
and the end of book 4 he asks the students if they make the right choice or the easy choice.
love it! so wize!

Completely agree

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

I like this humorous one best: (From the Movies)
Ron : Why didn't Ginny say hi to me? I'm her brother.
Seamus Finnigan : There's millions of brothers, but only one Harry Potter.

I like this one too.
Harry's scar had not pained him for 20 years. All was well.

Emily | 7 comments Wynter, thanks for stating that you were quoting the movies instead of the books. i dont know why people think quoting a movie means you're also quoting the book.

message 214: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 376 comments There are so many good lines in Harry Potter, how could I possibly choose my favorites?

There's funny ones from everybody at one point or another, inspirational ones from Dumbledore, touching ones.....

But admittedly, the one that immediately comes to mind is:

Dumbledore: "Lily? After all this time?"
Severus Snape: "Always."

Ranajeet | 3 comments Harry Potter on its own stands tall but when compared to quotes from LOTR it is way behind.

anyway my favourite line is at the end of the chapter "The Phoenix Lament" where Harry realizes the phoenix has left Hogwarts never to return again.

Gabby (gkj19) | 54 comments I agree with CamIaMacKenzie! I also like "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!". Go Mrs. Weasley! There are also these:
"The last one that shall be destroyed is Death." from Lily and James' gravestone.
"I see myself holding a pair of socks." Dumbledore's answer to when Harry asked him what he sees in the Mirror of Erised.
"Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..." Fred and George.
"We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat!" George to Ginny in Harry's first year.

message 230: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 376 comments I love all these quotes! In fact, probably half the series are my favorite quotes :D.
Still, why hasn't any mentioned this one? -
"Always".

:'( Snape! That's always going to be one of my absolute favorites.

And Sirius, in the films - "The ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find me... in here."

:D That along with the rest of Snape's lines it that segment, and any lines that Alan Rickman says when he's playing Snape :D.

Second favorite? I try not to have favorites, but Snape would probably be if I absolutely had to choose. Who's your favorite character?

message 235: by l (new)

message 237: by Gabby (new)

Gabby (gkj19) | 54 comments "All was well."

Thats my favorite line in the entire series. It means so much to me. It's the last line in the entire series. It represents that everything turned out fine and the end of an era. I have that written on my hand with the Deathly Hallows sign underneath.

My friend was waiting in the bookstore for the last Harry Potter book, and someone in front of her in the line turned around and read out the last two sentences to the whole book store! That would have annoyed me so much.
:) But I like that line too.

message 239: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 15, 2012 08:36PM) (new)

"Besides, the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
I always thought this quote carried a lot of meaning for who a person truly is.

"Not my daughter, you bitch!"
When she said this I laughed so hard and thought that Molly Weasley was not an official bad ass lol.

"The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with caution."
A quote that was said in the first book that could be continuous related to many instances of the series.

message 240: by Selena (new)

Selena "Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of Number four Privet Drive were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much."

"He had no memory of being hugged like this, as though by a mother."

message 241: by Ak (new)

Ak | 1 comments After the departure of the Weasleys, when Mcgonnagal tells Peeves-"It unscrews the other way" when Peeves takes their parting words to heart and wreaks havoc upon the castle....Then when all of them are lying in the hospital wing, and Ron makes soft clip-clopping(centaur hooves) noises, causing Umbridge to wildly look around in terror...then in the first book, when Harry says," I'm sure the poor toilet's never had anything as horrible as your head down it-it might be sick" in reply to Dudley's taunt about stuffing heads down at Cornwall(where harry was supposed to go first) on the first day. Oh oh but the best it-
"NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!!!!" :D
The ultimate winner.

message 242: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Zanrè (rbca) | 1 comments My personal favourite is: " She left. At once Lavender and Parvati put their heads together to discuss this new development, with everything they had heard about McLaggen, and all hey had ever guessed about Hermione. Ron looked strangely blank and said nothing. Harry was left to ponder in silence the depths to which girls would sink to get revenge."

I pratically chocked from all the laughter here XD

Sorry for butting in :) but I think that it's from the Prisoner of Azkaban film, in Divination class when they are reading tea leaves. Of course, Divination is hilarious in the books too!

message 247: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
That's right. The line is in the book too, though it's worded slightly differently. Divination class is always so much fun to watch and read about. :)

message 248: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 376 comments Yeah, LOL, like:

"Can I see Uranus too, Lavender?" and
Harry: "I've got two Neptune's here, that can't be right, can it?" Ron: "Aah, Harry, when two Neptune's appear in the sky, it is a sure sign that a midget in glasses is being born..." oh, and -
"From now on I don't care if my tea leaves spell 'DIE RON DIE', I'm chucking them in the bin where they belong."
:D :D :D So much fun.
I do love how Emma Thompson played Trelawney, she was perfect.
