Lee | 701 comments Not only the Raiders, came back down to reality....so did I with my picks!!! Well done guys...

Noticed, everyone missed the Baltimore/Tenn. game.

message 52: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I picked Atlanta in my work pool and I end up winning $50 cuz everyone picked NYG for tomorrow... woohoo!!!!

message 53: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments And yet it looks like my pick of ATL was the only one in our group.

Why the change of heart, Ms. P?

message 54: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I picked ATL in my money pool and Philly here... I like both teams. looks like I made the right pick for a change... :)

message 55: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) week 3 has some good match ups. Philly v Giants should be good. Green Bay v Chicago and Dallas v Washington are always entertaining. I will probably go with Tennessee over my Broncos this week.

message 56: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I predict the Dillon Panthers will go all the way to the playoffs and Tim Riggins will cut his beautiful long hair.

message 57: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Do it, Tim! That scraggly mess has got to go!!

And we all know when he cuts his hair, his woman-seducing powers will weaken with each clip of the scissors.

message 58: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments He is crazy handsome.

message 59: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments He's had Lyla Garrity, Becky (Cheryl's mom), and about a dozen others, like the single mom who lived next door to him. He's got diseases that even penicillin is afraid of.

message 60: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Phil, I'm not going to sleep with him, I just like to look.

message 61: by Phil (last edited Sep 20, 2011 07:29AM) (new)

Phil | 11837 comments That's fine. I'm not going to sleep with him either. It's hard to have sex with a fictional character.

By the way, the standings in our pool are tightening up. Check out the scores for the three players tied for second -- identical for both weeks!

Is it really one person doing identical entries?

message 62: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Congrats this week to Petra.

Jim | 6484 comments Phil wrote: "By the way, the standings in our pool are tightening up. Check out the scores for the three players tied for second -- identical for both weeks!"

? Not seeing this, Petra, C and I tied last week, but all had different scores this week.

message 64: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments That web site is freaking me out. I don't understand what the fuck it's doing today.

I was looking at the "Weekly Performance" section and, at the time, it showed three teams with eighty-something the first week and 111 the second week. Now it's all fucked up with everything red and it's got a category for "dropped points."

I don't fucking understand. All I want to see is total points for the season (first two weeks added together). WHERE IS IT?

message 65: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments let's just forget the first week :)

message 66: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Nope. No can do. Every week counts, bud.

message 67: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Actually they drop your worst week off. For most that was the first week, that is why your total and placement right now for most is your second week total.

message 68: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Why is every single score (including week 3) crossed off and in red?

message 69: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments And by the way, dropping the worst week is a pansy-ass way to do things.

message 70: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments ms.petra wrote: "sorry guys, long day at work. so just what Charly and Phil said. You pick all your winners and then assign a point value based on how confident you are. The first couple few weeks there will be 16 games, so assign a point value from 1-16 to each game. On the bye weeks, there may only be 13 or 14 picks. Yahoo will keep track of our points on out TC GRIDIRON home page. You can check totals in real time while watching and compare your scores with other players. It just makes game day more fun. We are playing for bragging rights and I will probably come up with some cheezy award for the 1st place winner. You all feel free to make bets among yourselves if you so desire. ;) Also get creative with your game name... I am Hopeless Homer. Also, I set the parameters to drop your lowest scoring week. So, if you are on vaca or something comes up and you miss a week your still good. From playing this at work, I have found people are pretty competitive and rarely miss a week, but just in case. Carry on, gentlemen.
P.S. LADIES... THIS REALLY IS FUN and you don't have to be a football expert to play! Join in! "

This is why Phil, makes good sense to me.

message 71: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Having an explanation for it doesn't make it less dumb. Do the Packers get to drop their worst week? :P

message 72: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Charly wrote: "It is a league setting that the "commissioner" needed to opt in or out of at the beginning. I don't know if you can change it now. I play in a family version of this game and we don't use confidenc..."

I do appreciate that you took my spot!

message 73: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I don't mind the system -- I've done confidence points before. In the initial reading of the league I missed the "dropped week" part. I think it's for sissies, but them's the rules so that's how we'll play.

::sulks just a little more::

message 74: by Michael (new)

Michael I like the confidence points system. I don't follow the NFL so it'd be too easy for me to just pick winners based on home field advantage and the point spread. With the confidence points system I have to do a little research to decide why I'm picking one game over another which is not only fun but gives me little bits of watercooler information I wouldn't otherwise have.

message 75: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i pick on gut feeling and how hot a team or QB is. i don't mind the confidence points or the dropped week only because i will go along with however it was set up to begin with

message 76: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Phil, the week you score a 60, you will love that we drop a week :)

message 77: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Yes. I try to pick at least two upsets each week and, when they come in, it's a big plus for my score (see Atlanta last week). I've been lucky and hit a couple each week, but now that strategy is (ever so slightly) penalized because those who lost OODLES of points on big favorites get to drop that loss. Who knows? I may never hit an upset again.

message 78: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments phil - i think you should pick whoever is playing NE each week to try to capitalize on an upset

message 79: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I'll do that if you assign 16 pts to the Colts every week. Deal?

message 80: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I think you both should do it.

message 81: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments if peyton doesn't come back i prob will. to lose

message 82: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I think that is a great idea, Jim. :)

message 83: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Denver fans want T.O. Like we don't have enough DRAMA with Orton/Tebow....

message 84: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) ok, picks are in! this week will be interesting... some good match ups and Phil, I picked 2 upsets. :)

message 85: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Bold move, ms. petra!

This may be the week I use my "do over."

I compared my picks to the percentages they show on the right-hand side of the screen. Mine differed in five cases. Five.

message 86: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments well, we all missed the NE game so i am glad they lost

message 87: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) well someone in my house is doing well so far and it is not me...

message 88: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) how about Detroit?! Clark must be a happy camper about now.

Phil | 11837 comments Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "well, we all missed the NE game so i am glad they lost"

I'm glad I didn't put double-digits on them.

message 90: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Eagles had that game in the bag.

Fuckers.

message 91: by Lee (new)

Lee | 701 comments Houston should have beat the Saints also...grr

Sweet Jesus... 3-0? Yes, Ms. P, there really is a Santa Claus.

The announcer at my daughters' volleyball game called out to the crowd for a Lions update. Somebody yelled back, "Minnesota 13, Lions nothing and the Lions look like crap!" I've been out all day and just found out the final score. I figured they were toast, especially playing in Minnesota.

message 93: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) JIM!! you are the man this week. :)

message 94: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments as previously expressed, for a true sports fan (one with teams they love and teams they hate) fantasy sports stuff makes you semi root for teams you despise just because you picked them.

message 95: by Lee (new)

Lee | 701 comments lol...very true Kevin.

message 96: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments It's true, a blind squirrel can find a nut. That was my lucky week.

message 97: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Bengals & Chiefs have kicked me in the nuts so far. I did pick Carolina over CHI as an upset so that was my fault. This week is gonna suck for me.

message 98: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I am so pissed at myself and my FIL. I told him early in the week that KC was going to be my 3-point pick this week, and that's exactly where I had them until 10:00 last night. That's when he finally talked me out of it, and I took the Vikes for 5.

I'm a fucking asshole for letting him talk me out of it.

message 99: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) SO what the heck's up with the Lions?

message 100: by Phil (new)
