ms.petra (mspetra) the game is staying at 2pm MST... CBS apparently has more money than NBC.

message 202: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) all I have to say is OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!

message 203: by [deleted user] (new)

This just in: Tim Tebow to distribute fish and loaves to the masses and anoint the sick at halftime of this Sunday's game against the Pats.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments right before he goes from clark kent to superman and wins the game?

And shortly before causing the staff of ESPN's Sportscenter to cream its collective jeans.

It's almost as bad as everyone falling to worship at the feet of Sydney Crosby a few years back.

message 206: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i like it. in the current climate of 75% of sports news being about arrests, PED's, domestic violence and other assorted crappola i think that tebow is a fun distraction and great story

message 207: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) You said it!

message 208: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) what Kevin said. and being in Denver this is so much more than football... He is a rookie QB and still has much to learn. But his enthusiasm, his leadership, his work ethic, and his actions off the field.. how can you not admire and root for someone like Tim Tebow?! He is a goldmine for the Broncos, restaurants and sports bars, etc.

message 209: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Kinda reminds one of Elway...

ms.petra (mspetra) Mary wrote: "Kinda reminds one of Elway..."

I have lost a lot of respect for Elway since he became the GM or whatever his title is. Regardless of what he thinks of Tebow, he should not be airing that in public. He should be supporting the team and the players that are putting butts in the seats to pay his salary.

message 211: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) this is worth the watch and an example of why Tebow is so popular. :)

message 212: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Thanks for that-I enjoyed it-he seems like quite a guy.

message 213: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) already 6 upsets today! wow!

message 214: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments besides sucking with my picks, i forgot to put in my confidence points. i got a whopping 8 points for the week. the kicker is that is not my lowest weekly total so far so i can't drop it. *sadtrombone*

message 215: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments One the bright side Kevin, there were a lot of wrong picks by everyone, it didn't hurt you as much as it could have. I think that Charly has won again, as no one has enough points left to catch him.

I need two more weeks like this, and I can catch Phil.

message 216: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Dear football people,
Why do commentators insist on using that incredibly annoying phrase "on the day" over and over and over again?
He has twenty interceptions on the day.
He has ten tackles on the day.
I get that they are differentiating between that particular day and ever, but I still think there is a better way of saying it.

message 217: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Jim wrote: "I need two more weeks like this, and I can catch Phil."

I have sort have been mailing it in for the last three weeks. We've been spending a lot of time getting the FIL settled in at the rehab center (the hospital kicked him out because his improvement plateaued).

I may have to get serious again -- the wolves are at the door.

ms.petra (mspetra) Charly wrote: "I didn't do the math as far as the Monday game, but most of us got hit by the same upsets so it was a bit neutralizing.

Petra, I promised to be nice, but I have to say I'm glad that's over."

me too! but we will get you guys in the playoffs rematch! :)

message 219: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) that was weird ^^^

message 220: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) one game Thursday, one game Sunday night, and everything else Saturday.. I really dislike working on Saturdays... especially this Sat. :(

message 221: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Oh, Charly! Yes, thank goodness I worked yesterday. The entire team stunk it up yesterday and our defensive secondary is really banged up. Hopefully, they got it out of their system and left it all in Buffalo because next week will be the Orton/Tebow showdown for the AFC West championship

message 222: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Yeah that game was brutal!

message 223: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Merry Christmas, football friends! :)

message 224: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Yes! And to you too!!

message 225: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I need Phil to have a poor week for me to have a chance to catch him.

You dislike confidence points Charly? Who knew?

message 226: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I'm still leading? Cool!

I haven't looked at the totals for a while, and two weeks ago my picks were under .500, so I figured I was second or third by now. One week to go!

message 227: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Okay, I just made my picks and left every opportunity for someone to take the lead. A lot of strange picks and upsets, just for fun.

message 228: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Charley? Do you like confidence points?

message 229: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments charlie - if not to belabor.....

i suck at this. primarily because i have forgotten a whole week of picks once and also forgotten to put confidence points next to my picks once (due to making my gridiron transaction on a phone screen that was 2x3) and secondly because i have a hard time picking teams/people/coaches i hate even if i do think they are the better team. i suck. did i say that?

message 230: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) well, I think this year has been fun and a much needed distraction. Like everything else in life, a little luck goes a long way. There are so many pools online we could play, so lets mark our calendars for August 2012 and we can scope out the offerings. Did anyone join a fantasy league? We have plenty of people to do that and we could do a draft via an online chat... anywho something to think about..
My Denver Nuggets are looking young and fierce and baseball is just around the corner. Broncos need to win Sunday!

message 231: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Hard week to pick games, some teams can rest players but will they? Some teams really need to show up, but will the pressure get to them?

I'll gladly play next year, whatever the group decides will work for me.

message 232: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Jim, are you going to spring training this year?

message 233: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Not sure, I think probably not. My BIL and I are thinking about going on a midwest tour to games to all the Baseball stadiums(Cubs, White Sox, Brewers, Tigers, Twins, Cards and Royals) instead of going to AZ. I suppose we will have to decide soon. My other BIL in the area wants to go back out to AZ. We'll see.

message 234: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I'd like to take my family to AZ for spring training. We'll see how the FIL is doing when the time comes -- maybe we can get away for a few days.

Mariner's spring training is where I first met my wife in person.

message 235: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) My son and I would LOVE to go to spring training. Especially since March is so crappy here!

The Nuggets have been playing really well-sure like Fernandez. And Nene was rockin' last night.

I'll definitely be up for another round of TC Gridiron-made me get a little more into Football.

message 236: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) I am having trouble making my play-off pics. I have the option to pick confidence points such as 3.2,6.4, 9.6 or 12.8 as well as 16. When I try to attach 16-it says that it is an invalid confidence point. When I leave one score blank it says my pics aren't complete and won't save them.
WTF?

message 237: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments We have to keep going? I've been giving it zero thought (see this week's results for proof) and thinking it was over. Hmmm.

message 238: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I included the playoffs because I figured everyone would be watching anyway. If you would rather not participate, that is ok. We can have a winner for the season and one for the playoffs for those that want to continue. NYG vs ATL is going to be a good game :) and of course my Broncos may just have another miracle in their pocket!

message 239: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Bronco Friday in Denver... doing my part by wearing my orange T under my uniform... lol!!!

message 240: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) I'm rootin' for em!

message 241: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) And I screwed up and didn't attach points to the Houston game.
I had to bet on the Broncos-we shall see...

message 242: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Broncos WIN!
Wow what a game!

message 243: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) WOW!!! is right Mary! That was frickin AWESOME!!! I am still wired and don't know if I will be able to sleep at all tonight. We can beat NE... we were in that game until we had the slew of turnovers... Sat nite... can't wait... just hope I am home from work at a decent time..

message 244: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) oh and I have to say "Sorry, Charly!" :)

message 245: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I was listening on the radio, and switched it to a different channel after regulation, as I was only 5 minutes or so from home, and planned on watching the OT when I got there. I turn on the TV and the game is already over.

Congrats to the Broncos, I really didn't think they had much of a chance.

message 246: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) I heard the touchdown only took 11 seconds!
I will be in Vegas Super Bowl weekend-wouldn't that be wild.

message 247: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments We may be in Vegas, too. My wife just this morning suggested it.

message 248: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Happy Bronco Friday 2.0!!

What did she suggest?

message 250: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Oh, I wish it had been something sexual!

She suggested spending Super Bowl Sunday in Las Vegas.
