The Challenge Factory discussion

It looks good Shell. I like the idea of having an official thread for it besides the mass email, that way if people want to comment they can. Maybe we should highlight all of the new series challenges Jennifer put together since it's a fairly new concept?
I'm debating on doing a two month mini challenge each two month set based on holidays during that time frame, similar to the 12 days of Christmas we just had up. What do y'all think?
Jennifer so sorry to hear about your friend. That's way too young. It's hard to understand when someone so young passes. Thanks again everyone for carrying my weight and all of your support. This has been such a tough time for us. My husband lost his dad 25 yrs ago so losing his mom has about crippled him.

Jenne I'm so sorry to hear that your family is dealing with that, that can't be easy for your husband or you. And I still totally owe you for pulling my weight for the last few months so if you need to take a break at all it's not a problem:)

I think the Series idea is a good idea for January! I'm working on it right now and I should have it all finished by tomorrow and then I'll send out a group message letting everyone know it's done. I meant to have it done already but everytime I sit down to do it something comes up! lol

I may be nonexistent for a few days. It seems I have what the lovely son caught in Georgia. :/ bleh

And two things real quick ladies...

1st-I went ahead and ended the Social Media Contest...I was trying to get us to 100 likes but it was taking forever! Rachel was our winner and I'm sending her a 10$ Amazon GC...I did 3 runner ups and they are getting BookMarks:)

2nd-Over the last couple months as you know I have had some major internet trouble and we finally have become fed up with the company and the BULLS*** that spews from their mouths...when you can get them on the phone that is!!!!!!! Anyways we are switching on friday so I am hoping that this means no more problems...a girl can hope anyways! Okay rant done...just giving a little heads up, shouldn't effect anything other than maybe no internet for a couple of hours:)

Ok I think I've cleaned out & sent everything that needs to go to second chance. I'll try to get the index updated today. I guess I'll also start a DIY challenge there and maybe it'll spark some life back to the second chance challenges.
Shell good luck with your internet changes. I would of murdered someone by now if I was you!

I still do not totally understand the DIY challenge thread...would it just be a generic thread where they can post their challenge list? Can they not do that in the thread for the original challenge? I'm all for it if you think that it will spark intrest though! I'm just a little slow on the uptake I think! lol

I'm a little hazy on it too. What I was thinking was one place where people could do x amount of them?

Hey Ladies, how is everyone doing? I am starting on next months Factory Report and wanted to know if there was anything anyone wanted me to put in...And maybe a suggestion on what challenge to feature.

Also want your opinion on a challenge idea. I was doing the buddy read and I remembered a challenge I use to do in another group that was really popular...it's actually really similar to your You Want Me to Read What challenge Jennifer. Basically they would sign up, I would make a list like

Jenne
Denise
and you pick for the person below you (person on the bottom does the top). I would give out a set amount of categories (maybe something to do with the months or a theme I pick) and you have to give the person you are picking for suggestions for each category. A lot of times this entails going through your persons book shelves wich is always awesome because you end up finding new books and authors! Its also a good way to get to know members because you don't choose who you pick for (I think that's how yours is too right Jennifer?) Each person has to not only make a list for someone to choose a book but also pick at least one book from the list they are given and read...then everyone shares on the thread and discusses! I don't know why but I always loved making my list for the other person...also getting suggestions and finding books/authors from others:) Do you think it's too close to the You Want me to Read What? I could always try it for a month and see how it goes...what do you guys think?

I was actually playing around with a similar idea, so of course I think it's a good one. :D It's more open than the You Want Me To Read What? challenge, since there are pre-set categories rather than everyone specifying what genre they'd like.

For the Factory Report: Hmmm... maybe a focus on all the Valentine's Day related challenges? (Love your "Anti-VD" foreman challenge idea, btw. :D)

I'm fiddling around with a kind of "If you were a book" mini-challenge - categories like "If you were a book, your parents would be authors - read a book written by someone sharing your mother's or father's name", release date (birth month or year), etc... what do you think?

It is very similar. If you want to do it I'll discontinue mine after next month. So start yours in March?

Denise sounds good about the Valentines Day related challenges:) And thanks...I thought I was kind of stretching with that one!

Jennifer I don't want to bump your challenge out! Why don't I just try it once in feb. and see how it goes...we can do both I don't think it will be a big deal and then we can discuss it later in February! And I'll try to make it a bit different somehow so people will still want to do both...If I can't make it different enough then we will just stick with You Want Me to Read What?.

Denise that's a cute idea! I like it. Factory Report wise Shell I can't think of anything in particular, oh wait I'd mention the DIY second chance challenge. It still hasn't sparked any interest yet.

Sorry I'm just now checking in. I have been really sick (seriously I don't think I have EVER been that sick before) since last week...I am doing the buddy read threads here in just a bit and then see what else I can get to before the fam comes into town for the birthday this weekend. Everything else will be finished up on Sunday! And Jenne it's not to late, I will make sure to add it in:-)

The Buddy Read threads are up and I'll have the Factory Report up tonight or tomorrow because it's already pretty much done I just need to add new links and a few new things:)

Ummm....so does anyone know where the February Factory Report is? the entire thread is missing...and I searched the group threads to make sure I didn't put it in the wrong folder on accident...I posted it monday and it said I had a few views but I have been really busy this week and haven't checked back but I was going to add something and I don't see it...

Thanks! Since I have the template saved it's really easy to just feed in the new stuff. Print Screen. Then paste it to Paint and edit the other stuff out.

Does anyone want to do the You Want Me to Read What? for next month? About the only way I get to get on GRs lately is on my phone, and I do not want to have to post it on my phone. Bleh. It's okay for just commenting or posting little things, but there is no way I want to tackle a whole challenge via Iphone. =/

Sorry ladies! Jenne I got the BR up and going...I will let you know the next couple of months is going to be tight time wise for me with my wedding coming up! This last month is when I actually started tackling it and I hardly got on GR's at all (shame on me!) Anyways I WILL get to my regular stuff but until May I will only be doing the bare minium...I will try and check back here from time to time and make sure you ladies don't need anything (Jennifer you can FB me too if you need me...I get those notifications a lot quicker!)

Also does anyone know how to fix the general folder with all of the old buddy reads on it? I tried to move it down so it's not first and it's not showing a general folder?

So for this summer I have an idea for a different team challenge kicking around in my head. I based the idea kinda around the kids game chutes and ladders. Basically it would be a numbered board with a few "ladders" where you can advance fast if you land on one. With the numbered spaces you'd have to read a book from a series that is that number. For the double digit ones you could use either number. So lets say you land on space 35 you could read a third or a fifth in a series. It wouldn't be time sensitive like WWGRF is. Instead captains would go to a roll the dice website to roll once all reads and reviews are in. Then I'd have a thread where the captains post all of the reviews for a space and post the new space they're moving to. What do y'all think. I thought something along those lines might work better with it being summer time and vacations and all of that.

I think for the most part all of the October stuff is good. For SSS whoever gets to it first on Sundays n Thursdays unlock the thread to post the alternate item. Sundays are my iffy days never know when the family is going to be demanding lol.

Since I'm in Seattle, I'll probably be the last person up, but if it's not done by the time I get on I'll do it. I usually don't have plans on Sundays just football and NASCAR

NP! I'm gonna see if there's anyway of transferring Jen's bingo board so we can get that going again next month. I'm not attached it any of the ones I've been putting up except the seasonal challenge. So if there's any you'd like you're more than welcome to them and any new ones you can think of. It probably wouldn't hurt for you and Ezi to go ahead and throw up a foreman challenge. We're only the second day into October so shouldn't be a problem. They're one of my favorites anything goes it's all up to you rather it's a challenge or a group read etc.

I was thinking about doing one of those, so now I'm racking my brain for a good one. Thinking maybe some kind of getting to know you spell out challenges or read a book that represents you or something.

Ezi If you have time get a foreman challenge going for October, if not it's not the end of the world. Other than that we'll need to get November employee noms and poll up at some point. (I have thoroughly neglected this for the past couple of months) and any ideas y'all have . Sometimes I get stuck in a rut and feel like I keep posting the same challenge over and over lol. We ought to brainstorm at some point for making a folder of hard challenges. I know Ezi has been dying to have some like that.

So I won't be staying up till midnight tonight lol. Ezi I'm not sure if you'll be up then I doubt it, I know Denise's time zone puts her in the wee hours of the night, Paris it's 10 pm for you. So Paris if you can tonight will you unlock the alternate thread and post? I was gonna plan on doing it first thing when I got up but after seeing everyone's responses to the first roll I don't think waiting till the morning is gonna work lol.

I can definitely do it. How are we picking what the alternate is? I'll be probably just getting home from soccer so it'll work out perfectly. I don't go to bed until 1 am my time usually anyway.
