Umm. That movie was full of Javier Bardem! That makes me a happy Heidi. :)

I know this really should go in the television thread, but you know what has been full of nudity lately?

The Wire. We've seen two different penises this season and about 782 boobs.

message 553: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I knew there was a reason my friends kept recommending that series...

message 554: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell That could also go in the "I'm not wearing any pants" thread.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
It's pretty shocking nudity, too, 'cause we get used to these people at work, being serious. Then they come home and get all nudey. Or sometimes they have been having sex at work, like the mayor with his in office blow job.

message 556: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell Whoa, I stopped watching that show after season 1. Maybe I need to rent the DVD's.

message 557: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Sally, since there's so much nudity, are you going to watch with your in-laws?

message 558: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Dave wrote: "That could also go in the "I'm not wearing any pants" thread."

I started that. =)

RA, NO. I will NOT be watching this show with my in-laws. Hee.

message 560: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Mel Gibson is a f--khead. And I don't use that term lightly.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Real nice, Mel. :(

Félix (habitseven) Short man's syndrome.

message 564: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Beat him up, RA!

message 565: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Interesting, but wtf was that site, RA? It had about 423 java flash ads going on all over the place. Nearly shut my flock right on down.

message 566: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Oops, sorry, Sally. That was whatever linked from msn.com.

I'm not beating him up. He's not worth my time, Heidi. But I'd appreciate it if you kicked him in the balls.

message 567: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Kickballs!

message 568: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I will... in my mind.

Speaking of kickball and other childhood sports teams, I recently joined the Facebook group "Barton Elementary from the 70s and 80s." It's awesome. My sister reminded me we used to play a version in gym class called
"Butts Up"

Where we all lined up facing the wall and the other team took turns throwing balls. Or something. Her memory, not mine.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments AHHH HAHAHAHAAA!

We watched Benjamin Button last night. It reminded me a bit of Amelie. Gorgeous colors, scenery, setting. They did a great job with a weird premise.
Sadly, I fell asleep and will need to rewatch it for the last half hour.

message 572: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I saw Galaxy Quest this past weekend at your recommendations, Sarah and Jackie - LOVED it... some serious laugh-out-loud moments. Sam Rockwell was my fave as "Guy."

message 573: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) We saw this a couple of days ago, too. Yeah, the last half-hour is pretty important to the story.

My biggest complaint (as with many films these days) is the difficulty in understanding the dialog. Characters mumble in weird accents (the female lead when old and the tugboat captain, for example).

So you turn up the volume to hear them better, and the loud music starts up suddenly and blasts your ears. Why do they make movies this way?

message 574: by [deleted user] (new)

WHAT?

message 575: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Are you talking to me, Larry?

I did find most of the dialog in BB indecipherable. It was nice to have subtitles.

message 576: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I SAID ... oh, sorry. I never thought to use the subtitle option. Duh.

Before I saw this movie I was really worried about how they would make a person born old. Would he be gigantic right away? Grow immediately? I thought it would be preposterous. But they did a good job with the special effects. Now that I think about it, they were nominated/won for that, right?

message 578: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It was very well done.

message 579: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I thought it was done pretty well.

Glad you liked Galaxy Quest, Sally.

Last night we watched Zack & Miri Make a Porno, which was very Kevin Smith. Slightly funny, slightly gross. Nothing to write home about.

I just finished BB for real, not sleeping this time. I'm glad I didn't miss that ending. What a good movie!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I loved Cate Blanchett in BB. So good, no matter what age she was portraying.

Yay, Heidi! I'm glad you loved Galaxy Quest! I love the line about our "Montecristo sandwiches". :D

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hahahahaha!!! Sigourney Weaver was great, too.

message 586: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I loved Tony Shalhoub's nonchalant delivery of all his lines. "Hey, guys?"

message 587: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments :)

Give me any kind of signal?
I'll do this: CAW. CAW.

message 588: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Everyone needs to watch Up as soon as possible.

Do your homework before you go, though:

message 589: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) So, Nools, are you saying you liked it?

message 590: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I was unsure too ;-).

message 591: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I wish she would just express her true feelings about it. ;)

message 592: by [deleted user] (new)

She does have a tendency to hold everything in. ;-).

Oh, I thought you were talking about the Up Series from Britain circa 1964-2004. Smacking good documentary series.
