David jones | 38 comments I haven't even watched season 2 of this show yet...hopefully they put it on Netflix soon...anyway though, this is a awesome, realistic zombie show.

Diane (ladydi4476) The dvds for Season 2 are on Netflix, but no streaming yet. I just finished it this past weekend and I thought it was pretty good!

Stefanie wrote: "I can't wait, Diane!! So excited for the third season. Have you read any of the comics?"

Nope I haven't, I just watch the show. But I absolutely love it. I thought season 2 was just as good if not better than the first one.

Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) Season 3 should be good. I hope that they do something with Rick and his annoying wife. She bitches all the time and moans and Rick is becoming too self righteous all the time. It works in the graphic novel but annoying in the show. Season 2 was more the Moaning dead as everyone moaned.

The problem I think is that they had the same budget as Season 1 but more episodes so they slowed it down. I gave up watching week after week and waited until I had them all on Tivo. Then spent the weekend watching the whole lot.

I used to fast forward through the first half so I wouldn't hear all the moaning from the living. Then by the second half - it all picked up and saved itself.

From what I read, the producers lost their way in Season 2 and promised to not make the same mistakes for Season 3.

I also can't wait for American Horror Story - The Asylum.

Oh, my gosh! It's not just me, thank goodness! lol
Rick's wife drives me around the bend, playing him and her boyfriend off against each other constantly. Then she's all, oh, stop! Don't fight over lil ole me! And their SON!, what a little, pardon me for saying- PUKE! Wouldn't miss him if he happened to go sleep walking outside at night... OMG, I am such a nasty today, sorry, all... ;o)

message 57: by Diane (last edited Sep 26, 2012 08:54AM) (new)

Diane (ladydi4476) It's not just you guys, I can't stand Lori half the time. She is so self righteous and constantly lecturing the rest of the survivors. She was responsible for Shane losing it towards the end, I just know it. I mean he was a psycho path but still she should have left well enough alone. I think Rick showed he's not going to be a pushover anymore. In those last few episodes he finally got tough and became a real leader. I'm looking forward to seeing where that goes.

I guess Season 2 did go on a little too long and some of the storylines dragged, but I watched it all in one weekend so it didn't feel so bad to me. I had a blast. If Season 3 is an improvement then I'm REALLY excited now!

Glenda, I totally agree with your thoughts on Carl! He needs to either grow up or get bitten. One or the other!! :D

AGREED.

Char | 17459 comments I'm dying for the new season to start as well.
I just hate that it conflicts with my other favorite shows, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.
I will usually choose TWD though because I can watch the others On Demand.

message 61: by S.M. (new)

S.M. Oberhansley (smober) | 57 comments Ugh, I'm so glad to hear there's others who can't stand Lori!! She drives me nuts! And Carl, though I don't always think he's as bad as his mother. But how the hell hasn't he been eaten yet?? Every single time there's a zombie attack and he's told to stay in the house, he's out wandering! If he was my son (and I don't have children of my own) I would smack him upside the head until he got the picture!

If you haven't read the comics, you should try them out. The first few issues have the same storyline as the show, but then they fork off a bit and are two entirely different stories, yet stay true to the same roots. That's what I like about the show- even if you've read the comics, you still don't know what's going to happen!

Season 3 will be the best season yet, I think. So excited that they've introduced Michonne- she's the most bad-a** woman ever. I hope they'll do well with her character. Season 2 did feel a little slow, but I think it was a lot more character development they felt they needed. I think season 3 will be a treat!

Diane (ladydi4476) Stefanie wrote: "If he was my son (and I don't have children of my own) I would smack him upside the head until he got the picture!"

Haha, exactly! I totally would too. It's not so much the wandering off that ticked me off as the way he talked back to Carol and bosses his own father around. And of course how he inadvertently got (view spoiler) He's just a trouble maker...much like his mother!

I'm soooo excited for Season 3. Wohoo! Oh and I'm still new to the show and the comics so I had no idea Andrew Lincoln was really British. When I watched behind the scenes features and I heard his accent I was like O_O!

i couldn't agree more. Lori made a mess of things big-time. she thought the hubby was dead for what? 5 minutes? then she is shacking with old friend shane? is carl really rick's or shane's? why is carl such a misbehaved little snot?

the women have been kind of pathetic and whiny; with no backbone. glad Michonne showed up kicking butt.

Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) Next time I see him, I'll get a picture of his shortness for you.

If you are a fan of his, you should try looking for an English series such as 'TEACHERS' has a couple of nude scenes in this for you ladies out there. Also look for the film 'HUMAN TRAFFIC', 'LOVE ACTUALLY' and 'SCENES OF A SEXUAL NATURE.

If you find yourself in London, have a drink at The Pineapple in Kentish Town. He tends to do the pub quiz on a Monday evening there.

S.M. Oberhansley (smober) | 57 comments Andrew Lincoln is in "Love, Actually," which is one of my guilty Christmastime pleasures. When TWD first came on, I didn't even realize it was the same guy until about halfway through the season!

Diane (ladydi4476) Oh wow. I've only seen that movie once but now I'll have to watch it again! His American accent is really great. I'm amazed how these actors do it.

message 80: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments *snort* 11811! LOL

What's weird is after the premiere was over I switched over to watch The Mist on the ScyFy channel. Both Andrea and Dale from TWD were also in that movie.
I wonder if Frank Darabont called them up to ask them to try out for TWD?

message 81: by S.M. (last edited Oct 15, 2012 01:40PM) (new)

S.M. Oberhansley (smober) | 57 comments Dale, Andrea, Carol, and Morales (who was only in the first season) are all in TWD and "The Mist." (Frank Darabont has used Jeffery DeMunn in a number of his productions, including "The Shawshank Redemption.")

Melissa McBride (Carol) has a minor role in "The Mist" and is only seen at the beginning and the end of the film (two or three lines, I think.)

Juan Gabriel Pareja (Morales) plays one of the soldiers (view spoiler). In both TWD and "The Mist," his character is named Morales.

Char | 17459 comments So here I thought I had made a big discovery! I guess not. : )
Thanks for the info, Stefanie.

message 83: by S.M. (new)

S.M. Oberhansley (smober) | 57 comments Haha, well you did, in a way... No one told you about it, so you discovered it for yourself.

I'm obsessed with TWD and "The Mist" is one of my favorites, so I've seen it so many times that once TWD came on I recognized their faces.

message 84: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments I noticed that recently while watching The Mist, too. Tarantino has done the same thing, as does Robert Rodriguez...

Daniel Williams (Daniel_Williams) | 73 comments I loved the Walking Dead premiere. They came out swinging! I loved "The Mist." Truly eerie. One of the worst endings ever, though.

message 86: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Certainly much darker than the novella's ending...

message 87: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments It is, isn't it Chris? It's hard for me to say which one I liked the best. In the story, I just loved the ambiguous ending. The movie just left me stunned.
I love it either way, I guess. : )

message 88: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments I'm looking forward to the third season. Haven't seen the first episode yet, though.

message 89: by Ian (new)

Ian McClellan | 540 comments I loved the end of "The Mist." It was really harsh and brutal. Usually they change an ending and do the opposite, which annoys me to no end.

message 90: by Keith (new)

Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) I have to agree with Ian. The ending felt more like real life than the normally artificial tack on happy ending that Hollywood normally pries down our throats. Darabont is probably the best adaptor of Stephen King as he has done it successfully time and time again.

message 91: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Jason wrote: "I'm looking forward to the third season. Haven't seen the first episode yet, though."

Jason, the only thing that sucked was that the episode was only an hour...and after the ending I was like, "Aw, man, I gotta wait a week!"

also, wouldn't all that blood spatter infect you just as well as a bite? But, of course, as we learned, everyone is infected anyway.

message 93: by Diane (new)

Diane (ladydi4476) I finally saw the season opener! It was awesome and very intense. The ending was great and damn it seemed like it went by in the blink of an eye. I was hoping it would run closer to an hour. I can't wait 'til next week!!

Is it me or was Rick acting like a bit of a douche? I mean I understand he's stressed out and kind of resentful that Lori might be carrying another man's child but he didn't need to act so snarky. He's been that way ever since he (view spoiler)

I love The Mist too...even though yes the ending was terrible. If you stop the movie 10 minutes before it ends it's pretty damn good. :) It's one of my fave short stories by Stephen King (from my fave book Skeleton Crew!)

message 94: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments I hear you, Diane, but I think this is Rick post-your-spoiler, and post-his-meltdown at last season's finale. To me, it makes sense. He's not superman.

Michonne is a bad-ass with that samaurai sword!

message 95: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments Stephen King loved Darabont's ending in The Mist and said he wishes he had thought of it. So much darker with an emotional punch in the nuts. I liked it.

message 96: by Diane (new)

Diane (ladydi4476) 11811 wrote: "Stephen King loved Darabont's ending in The Mist and said he wishes he had thought of it. So much darker with an emotional punch in the nuts. I liked it."

Wow I had no idea he liked it. Much like he liked the ending of Carrie in 1976. Now while that one worked for the film, I'm still not too sold on The Mist ending. For me it just seemed unnecessarily harsh. To survive all that and just give up so easily. It's darker yes, but also a bit manipulative. But overall I did enjoy the film.

Chris, I agree about Rick. Considering all he's been through it's understandable. He has to be that way in order to keep the gang surviving.

message 98: by John (new)

John (johnpeters2) | 15 comments Okay, there are some things bothering me about the season 3 beginning. These people have been wandering around for six freaking months and they are just NOW finding the prison -- even though, they apparently did their wandering within a couple of miles of the facility? Remember, early in the episode they were looking at the maps, trying to figure out how to leave the region to get away from the zombie herd?

And the prison guards. You can't get through their fear, so how did they get turned into zombies? They should have survived in all that gear.

And yes, I don't like Lori, though I really detest Carl. Come on, I know some kids can be difficult, but he's had so many close calls, would he still be going off on his own the way he does?

Just curious, who is your favorite character?

message 99: by S.M. (new)

S.M. Oberhansley (smober) | 57 comments John, Chris Hardwick interviewed Glen Mazzara after the Season 3 premiere, and a viewer asked that same question about them not finding the prison sooner. Mazzara said that the group had been circling the prison and avoiding a large herd of zombies, so it was basically just chance that they missed the prison. I guess the group wandered in circles for those months. In the comics, they find the prison much faster, so I think it was just a way to get Lori's pregnancy to the final few months to advance the storyline.

To answer your question, my favorite characters are Glen. I really liked Dale, too, and cried when he died. :(

message 100: by John (new)

John (johnpeters2) | 15 comments Yeah, that's the way it came across to me -- just fast-forwarding in time to get later in her pregnancy, which I thought was kinda cheap.

I hated when Dale died. He was definitely my favorite character.
