Laurie: Almost Faemous (laurie-almostfaemous) | 40 comments I am a fast reader usually on average a book a day sometimes two depending on how much I like it. I usually read series' so if it is good I'm pretty quick. I have on occasion grabbed a coffee at starbucks headed into chapters and read a new release while drinking the coffee. Love those chairs...lol.

I had a similar problem after my car accident. The doctors said if I pushed myself with reading a lot I'd get back much of my speed and comprehension back. I have taken advantage of recuperating time to read many books from different genres and my speed and comprehension are almost back to where they were before the accident thank goodness. Now if my writing skills would come back and the fatigue go away I'd be a happy camper.

Boy, I can relate to that! It's been almost 9 months since my stroke. I still have trouble constructing simple sentences, one-handed typing, and spelling and grammar. I asked my neurologist when the fatigue would go away. Her response was it could take years. Of all the things I lost with the stroke, it's my mind I miss the most.

message 204: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Turner (tashaturner) Yep I do miss my mind the most and it's no joke. The fatigue is frustrating because I look ok but just showering or making breakfast can knock me out for hours/the day.

Yep, I know. Takes me almost an hour to shower, dress and brush my teeth. Then all I want to do is go to bed again.

message 206: by Christine (new)

Christine | 5 comments I read fast but I also will skim over the boring sections. I have my Nook or a book with me at all times even if I know there is no change for me to open it up during the day. I read now more than I watch TV, which I think is great but some people in my family think I'm crazy -- just because they just don't enjoy reading -- TOO EACH THEIR OWN.

message 207: by Sara (new)

Sara Burr (sarafurlongburr) | 10 comments For me it depends on whether or not I'm into the story. If I'm really enjoying the book, I'll zip right through it. If not, it takes me a while to finish it.

message 208: by [deleted user] (new)

I read fast if it's a really good book and I read slow sometimes too...but i usually finish a book in like a day or two...:)

message 209: by Georgina (new)

Georgina I'd say I'm in between, leaning more to the faster side, although saying that it did take me 25 days to read Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James but then it was so dull and boring! :)

message 210: by Stephi ♥ (new)

Stephi ♥ I read superfast, but when I get sick of something it takes me hours to finish a chapter. I usually can finish a good book over-night, sometimes numerous books if I don't stop. But other books are soooooooooo slow! so it depends!

message 211: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (kellieling) It really depends. If the book I'm reading is really good and grips my attention, than I would probably be able to read it in a day. If the book is really really boring, then it would probably take me much more longer than usual for me to finish it :)

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

Depends on a few things. Most young adult books I can finish in 1 or 2 days. Most thrillers or horror 2 or 3 days. Fantasy books which tend to be longer can take up to five, sometimes more.
And then there's how much I enjoy the book. If I really like a book I can read straight through with small breaks. Though if I don't like a book it can take me a week to read 100 pages.
I also have at least two books going at the same time.

message 213: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 280 comments Generally I read pretty fast unless im forced to read a book. Then I unintentionally aviod reading for a while. I have no idea why though. The fastest I have read a book is 4 hours.

message 214: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Moyano (cecimp) | 4 comments It depends, if work and college aren´t too time-demanding I become a fast reader, otherwise I can get reaaaally slow.

message 215: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (booklover723) | 18 comments It really depends if it is good book that i am into it will take me a week to read but if is a book that i am not that into it will take me forever to finish.

message 216: by Mandie (new)

Mandie (literarywanderlust) | 6 comments I am a fast reader. Unless the book is terrible or it's something I have to read for school or something I can't pace myself for anything. I just devour my books... poor things never stand a chance.. ;)

message 217: by Miranda (new)

Miranda | 10 comments It depends on the book. When I really enjoy it I am fast. But if I can't get into it, it takes literally forever.

message 218: by Aarati (new)

Aarati | 197 comments I'm usually a fast reader. A book per day. But if college gets hectic, it takes me at least 2 days to finish a book. And if the book is really boring then it takes forever.

message 219: by Becca (new)

Becca (becca16) | 157 comments Personally, I'm about as slow as it gets haha I'm usually lucky to be able to read 200 pages a day (unless it's an audio book) I love reading tho so I keep trudging along :) I envy those of you who can do 3 books a day!! That would be epic!!

message 220: by Meera (new)

Meera I am a fast reader if the book is appealing, but if the book is not my type....I go on as a tortoise..But I still finishes it,no matter what!!!

message 221: by AlanCummingFan (new)

AlanCummingFan (Morgona505) | 44 comments depends on the book I can read very fast but if I like a book I take my time

message 222: by Alice (new)

Alice Massacre | 31 comments it depends on the subject. if it is something i am interested in, i'll read it faster.

message 223: by Len (new)

Len (ellencantillan) i am a slow reader in a sense i read only at night before going to sleep, but if given a chance i want to read all day...

message 224: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) I am a very slow reader. I like to digest the book slowly, otherwise I get heartburn.

message 225: by L.Z. (new)

L.Z. Marie | 6 comments Reading novels for a living makes one a speedy reader. If I have to teach a novel I slow down, but when reading for fun, I can't turn the pages fast enough. Of course, then I don't want it to end and savor the last few chapters!

message 226: by Yakara (new)

Yakara I am a fast reader. A long book is 2 days. All of the The Wheel of Time: Boxed Setexcept for the last one, took me 2 weeks to read.

message 227: by Erin (new)

Erin Latimer Yakara wrote: "I am a fast reader. A long book is 2 days. All of the The Wheel of Time: Boxed Setexcept for the last one, took me 2 weeks to read."

A Wheel of Time book in two days, seriously? Do you eat or sleep? lol

message 228: by Lit Bug (Foram) (new)

Lit Bug (Foram) A page every minute... is that slow or fast?

message 229: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot I'm a naturally fast reader but I never miss out words or just skim. I do read every word. If the print is very small, I have to slow down. I also read fast when reading pdf on my computer.

message 230: by Becky (new)

Becky | 251 comments I think I'm a slow reader, but if I like the book I will have problems putting it down. I think since starting good reads I read a lot more.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'm not sure what I am.

If I'm really into a book I can consume it pretty quickly. Some books with boring parts - like repetitive sex scenes - I'll start skimming a bit. I know I can read faster, but I like to slow down at great parts and savor them on purpose.

message 232: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 92 comments It depends on the book, the genre and the complexity of the book. Some books when I have to read sentences or paragraph a few times to understand the meaning can take weeks. If I can't get into the story, it's slow too, but when it's well written and it captures my interest I can read pretty fast. For example, a book I read lately had over 650 pages and I read it in 3 days.

message 233: by [deleted user] (new)

Very fast

message 234: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t very fast

message 235: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 280 comments I usually read very fast unless I'm truly avoiding a book. If its really boring then I'll read slower because I'm not interested.

message 236: by Aline (new)

Aline I took the test and it says I can read between 300 and 400 wpm with 81% comprehension. ..the thing is if the book is really easy I can read faster than that but if the book requires a difficult vocabulary I have to slow down to make sense of be frase because english its not my first language. I don't have a lot of time though. I have to read or hear the books at night ir between jobs. When I was home more often I used to finish 1 book per day...now...only in my dreams.so...I'm fast if I have time and the book its good and I'm average if the book its more elaborated and I don't have kucb time.

message 237: by Andy (new)

Andy | 44 comments I'm pretty fast if it's a really really good book.

Yeah though if i'm not interested I don't know I kinda slack.

message 238: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Lillie (kiwibookworm) | 18 comments I'm a fast reader so I can get through all the books quickly.

message 239: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (bookishem) | 1 comments I'm a fast reader generally, but it depends on the book if it's really interesting I can read one in a few hours.

message 240: by Shari (new)

Shari Ryan (shariryan) I have to read every single word so I don't miss anything, and I always wonder why I can't manage to read a book in one day. I'm somewhat jealous of those who can, because my list of books to read is growing out of control! I'm definitely a very slow reader. Sometimes, I even drag out the end of a really good book because I don't want it to end :).

message 241: by Mira (new)

Mira Considering what I've just read, I'm definitely a slow reader. I'm a turtle speed reader lol. I never scan read though. The fastest I finished a book was 3 days. My usual is a book per week. You people are impressive!

Olivia "So many books--so little time."" | 31 comments It depends on the book. Some thrillers are literally page-turners for me while other books like some cozy mysteries read slowly. I linger over them.

message 243: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellymatherly) | 34 comments I'm a super slow reader but by starting a review blog & pushing myself on the number of books I read a year, I have really improved.

I used to read 12 books a year... yeah that's a book a month. I suppose it could be worse. I've got friends who haven't read a book since the Twilight movie came out.

Now I am 2 books shy of meeting my 24 books a year goal. Next year, I will push myself even harder.

message 244: by Toni (new)

Toni | 83 comments Very fast. I read a book usually in one sitting. If i'm not writing, i'm reading. I average about 5- 6 books a week.

♥♡¢σσкιє♥♡ (Krystle) (kookiekrysp88) Toni wrote: "Very fast. I read a book usually in one sitting. If i'm not writing, i'm reading. I average about 5- 6 books a week."

I wish I was like you! Lol
I used to read that fast, but then I got busier so now I finish between 1 to 3 books a week.

message 246: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) I'm a fast reader, and can get through books usually in one sitting, two at most. Like Toni, if I'm not reading I'm writing. If I'm not writing, I'm reading :)

message 247: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyc) I am so slow. My 12 year old daughter reads faster than me. We'll read the same books and discuss. she blows me away. Grrr

message 248: by Italo (new)

Italo Perazzoli In the case of I am reading a superficial novel I tend to read it, very very fast. Fortunately it won't happen for a novel written by Iris Murdoch,Charles Dickens and in general the classical ones.

message 249: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a very slow reader. I tend to savour and enjoy the book, the writing, the world-building, the dialogues and the characters of a book. This is as important to me as the story. Hence, I'm very slow.

message 250: by witchyreader13, (new)

witchyreader13, (witchyreader13) For me it depends on the book. If it's something I can't put down, I can read a book in a day, but most books take me 3-5 sittings.
