Soz :( Never really though about it. Hopefully it helps in the future :)

It's ok. I don't like using books that I have already been reading for new challenges or in this case tasks. I know it is allowed when you're still in the beginning of the book but somehow it feels like cheating so if I can avoid it I will. Crazy I know, but that is just me :)

64 - Read a book published in 2010

Finished No.8 Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Can I have No.14 next please. Finger's crossed that it's a good one. I have a long flight ahead and a boring book can only make it worse!

14 - Read a book that is 1st in a series.

message 460: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I see what's going on here ... Lauren has definitely bribed Lu to take a look at the list. What was it, Lu? Chocolate frogs?
Hehe, just kidding. I hope I'm lucky with my next task.

Guys Lauren is off to China tomorrow with long flights and many hotels, so it's going to be hard for her to update and get more numbers etc.

I said to her she can choose 2 more numbers but she has to read them in sequence. This way she can get her books ready tonight and if she finishes all 3 in China in the next 2 weeks she should try and come online to ask for more.

Just so everyone knows :)

Let me know if any of you are going away etc.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Can I have 16 and 18 too please. I promise I will stick to your rules and read them consecutively. You can even have Mark to monitor me if you want. :D

I promise she hasn't let me look. If she had I wouldn't have had the Epic Fantasy challenge! But maybe it's worth a thought, she does have a weakness for Salt and Vinegar Pringles!

message 464: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I'll make sure he keeps a eye on you :P

16 - Read a book that's Title starts with B
18 - Read a book that has a House on the cover

These should be easy enough. Your lucky streak can't last forever tho, so be very very careful there are many Epic Fantasy tasks :P

Off to bed I go!

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I will be up a while looking for houses. Thanks Lu!

Oh salt and vinegar pringles, they are delicious but they don't sell them over here because not many people like them.

I totally agree that Lauren got to pick more than one book in this situation. I hope you have fun on your trip and we want to see photo's of the many wonderfull things you are going to see. Have a safe flight and we'll talk to you soon!

Awesome! Thanks. I have been busy over the past few days as my folks were in town for my graduation. I kept reading Dance of Dragons as I have been meaning to read it and it counts towards the Epic Challenge anyway. I was planning to look for another long one today, but will take this "free pass" as I was definitely less than 30% in when I received the challenge!! I might not have done if it was a shorter book as I am a fast reader anyway.

thanks for your offer, but I think I will take the more or less easy way out and read The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas. It has been on my physical to read pile for over a year so it is time to read it. Might take me longer than my previous task though :(

What's up with the formatting on GR today? All the posts where I put covers next to each other in the same line is now changed to one cover per line and I can't seem to put it back all in the same line no matter what. Please say it's not just me!

I did some searching and it seems to be some problem related to some maintenance they did. It has been reported to goodreads and they put it on their to do list.
I found the answer in the goodreads feedback group which I immediately joined because they have discussions about bugs and suggestions about how to make goodreads better and is moderated by goodreads itself.

I am not sure if I am supposed to keep you informed Lu, but I have changed the book I am going to read for my task with an element in the title or author's name. I said I was going to read the Man in the Iron Mask but I have read only 20 pages or so and I have the feeling I am missing a lot of things. I knew it is the third part of the third part of a trilogy (yes that is right. The first book is the Three Musketeers, the second book is 20 Years after and the third book is The Vicomte of Bragelonne which is split in three books one also named the Vicomte de Bragelonne, the second Louise de Valliere and the Man in the Iron Mask) but it was my understanding it could be read seperately. Maybe other people can but there are several references to earlier events and I want to know what they are referring to so I can't. That means I will have to get the other books and read them first to read this one. Fortunately I have ordered another series of romantic novels of which the fourth books has silver in its title. So I will be reading those books as soon as they arrive :)

I know how you feel. Reading a later part in a series is like starting a book half way through for me!!

message 492: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Yeah, but everyone said it could be done with this series as no one ever read anything other than the three musketeers and the man in the iron mask. Apparently the books in between are not read, some of them aren't even published by the publishers who publish all the classics. However in the first few pages two characters were having a conversation and they were refering to things that had happened and I had no idea what they were talking about. Maybe it is not necessary to know but it drove me crazy so I will read the books in between before I give the man in the iron mask a second try and never try something like this again no matter what they say :)

Autobiography, have you tried Marley + Me by John Grogan. I adore that book, and laugh or cry my way through it every time. Ok, I am very much an animal person and have a Labbie of my own, but it is worth a try...
