How was the book Liezel?"

It was good, not an easy read though. The soul purpose of their lives is violence & mayhem, and at no point does 'little Alex and his droogs' feel remorse for their actions. The book actually had me rooting for the conditioning treatment, wrong as it is.

Don't you use the unread option? When you go to the group home then in the right corner of the coloured strip in which it says Discussion Board you have three options: all, new and unread. If you press unread you get all the messages that you haven't read before. I don't get all the notifications either and when I try to adjust them strange things happen. So I just use this option and I never miss a message.

I thought it would be something like you didn't get a notification. That is why I asked again.

Thanks, I will look for a book!

Good night and sweet dreams! Talk to you tomorrow!

Nothing that will kill me :) (I hope!!)

For years all the Dr.s thought I had chronic fatigue/ME but I have been sent to a Belgian specialist and it turns out that I have several (like 8) different strains of something called Rickketsia. (It is all very strange but it is simalar to lyme disease.) The treatment is awful and makes me feel very, very sick but thankfully only last one week each month.
One of the things it has effected is my thyroid function and since I have been taking medication for it I have gone from having terrible insomnia, to not being able to read half a page before my eye start drooping. I'm missing my reading but the good new is I'm slowly starting to feel a little better each day :D

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod

Lauren wrote: "Haha now the whole group knows my weird medical history! Oh well we are all friends here :D"

Yes we are all friends here. And your medical history isn't that weird. I am glad they now know what it is and that there is a treatment for it and that you are feeling better each day. The reading will come later. Your health is more important.
I used to have episodes where I fell asleep or unconscious and they never figured out what it was. I was just back from the Caribbean where I stayed for 2 months and all of a sudden I would have these episodes and nothing could wake me and after 10 minutes or so I would wake up again. They have prodded me for 2 years with all kinds of test of all kinds of fluids and stuff, photo's, EEG's etc. etc. etc. After two years we stopped because the episodes stopped, but we never figured out what it was. Now I live my life wondering if it was something that has run its course or if it is something that will come back with a vengeance as some diseases do.
At least with you they know what it is and can anticipate stuff and try to treat it. If you ever need to talk about it, let me know. I am here for you!

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
You are so right a diagnosis is such a relief. You must have been so scared! I am glad the episodes have stopped!!
I have been sick like this since the age of 12 (18 year's) and no one could tell me what was wrong. I knew I felt terrible but there was no diagnosis, eventually I almost had myself believing I was a hypochondriac!

message 370: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
We have a lot of experience with all kinds of diseases and ailments in our family and we often say it is better to break your arm than have something wrong inside of you. If you break your arm they put it in a cast and everybody sees there is something wrong and everyone feels sorry for you. When there is something inside of you wrong people don't see it and if you look ok on the outside they have a hard time believing there is something wrong with you. Especially if the doctors don't know what is wrong either. But you must tell yourself you are not a hypochondriac and your body is telling you something even if other people can't hear or see it.
Yeah I am glad to my episodes stopped but I would rather have a diagnosis and know what it was and if it will come back.
I hope the medication you are on now will help you feel better and lead a normal life again because it will have had a huge impact one way or the other, either in your day to day doings or in your mental state.

I am still looking for my book. I was reading one that I thought was set in London and than halfway through they went to their estate in the middle of fricking Dorset. So almost half of the book is set in the country.

message 377: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Yeah, but they also go back to Dorset again. I already finished the book and almost half of it is in Dorset. No worries. It was one of my guilty pleasures books so it was fun reading it. I will just try another one and hope they stay put.

I guess your comment is for me Lauren?
I haven't read a Clockwork Angel and don't know if it is something I want to read. I have to check. My task is to read a book that is set in a big city, so any big city would do. I was reading an historical romance novel and was hoping they stayed in London but they didn't. I have more of these books so I am just going to try the next one. I am trying to buy as little books as I can for this challenge and so far I have been able to read the books I already own. But thanks anyway for your suggestion and I will check out the book see if it is something I would like.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Sorry Barbara, Blackberry glitch! Yeah there has to be a romance novel with a London Season in it :)

That is ok, I got the message :) Yeah some of Amanda Quick's novels will have the main characters staying in London for the major part of the book. The book I read was 60 percent in London and 40 percent in Dorset. That is not enough.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Oh if I've read all of Amanda Quick's historical's let me know which one you are think of and I will see if I can remember if they head off to the country for a house party, maybe I can save you some time :)

I know, that is why I mentioned her by name. Right now I am reading The Looking Glass Trilogy. That is part of the Arcane society series, actually part 10, 11 and 12 (which will help me in the series madness challenge). The first one is set in modern times (and so far set in a small town), and the second is historical and the third one is set in the future. If memory serves me then all the Arcane historical romances were set in London with the main character actually staying in London. So that would do.
The other books I have and haven't read yet are Ravished, Reckless, Dangerous, Deception, Desire, Mistress, Mystique, Misschief and Affair.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Yeah you are right all the historical Arcane are set in London. (as far as I know) And if my memory is right Affair would work as well as the main character is a London match maker. I read it a long time ago but I don't think they leave town too much.
At least they are all quick, (hehe) fun reads so even if it doesn't work out you haven't spent days reading something boring!

Sixteenth Summer, Cruel Summer and Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board
