I think so. I also thinks she wears the exact same skirt/top combo in 1, 2 and 3 just photoshopped different colors. And it looks like a seperate skirt to me :)

Anyone else agree?

17 - Some form of Fire on the cover

message 157: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments OK, I finished my first task for sure this time:
Thief's Covenant (Widdershins, #1) by Ari Marmell
#11 Something on the cover that you have a phobia of - Heights.
___

Will this book work as Historical Romance?
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers
It's set in the 15th century and there's definitely a romantic interest, but it has a fantasy element.
Or do I need to pick something without any other genre mixed in, i.e. purely romance (historical), with no fantasy, steampunk, sf or otherwise?

message 158: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Mmm ok well it has been shelved as Historical Romance. When I look at the reviews I see:

"Do you love historical mysteries? Court intrigue? Romance? Very light fantasy?"

"I don't know, for a book that received so many starred reviews it is oddly superficial and immature. Maybe too much of a romance?"

"sizzling yet forbidden romance"

So definitley Romance.

"I love a good historical novel and this one qualifies as just that. It's a time period I'm not familiar with and a historical character I didn't know, Anne of Brittany"

And definitley a Historical

SO I say Hell yea :)

message 188: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Just to be devil's advocate.
Shouldn't Emma have finished the book before asking for a new number? Because as I understand it now she hasn't yet finished it.

message 189: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Maybe she can't log for awhile and was just getting it now?

message 190: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
That might be, but she didn't say anything about that. Also in the rules it says you have to finish one task first and then ask for another number.
And if it is a task where you really have to look for a book it gives you an unfair advantage because you already have time to look for a book.
Like I said just I am just being devil's advocate here, but I do like everything to go fair. There are a few fast readers amongst us (me included) who can really take advantage if we can ask for numbers before completing the previous task. Where as people who read a bit slower will be able to profit as much.
What I really like about this challenge is that you have to look for a book before you can read it and that can slow the faster readers and make it more fair for everyone.
But in the end you are the boss so if you don't mind I won't mind.

message 191: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I do agree with you :)

From now on everyone should finish a book first before asking another number.

But if I'm going away for the day or so I will say so the ones that will finish their book in that time can ask a number before I go.

Sound fair?

message 192: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Absolutely!

And really I don't want to be mean or anything. I really just want it to be fair for everyone :)

message 193: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
No problem :)

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I agree, if you are a chapter from finishing that's another story but other then that I think the rule should stand.
