I'm also glad I didn't get the task.

Barbara wrote: "He would have found some SF book about loving robots or starships or what not :)"

That ..."

That were indeed the kind of books I was thinking about. So it wouldn't have been too bad to get that task.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I am going in the opposite direction. I'm fact I am setting myself a personal challenge of seeing how much "low brow" raunch fest, smut I can fit into these seemingly innocuous challenges. lol

I have found (with Lu's help) a book by Sherrilyn Kenyon (not my favourite author) about some sort of horny Egyptian god. So here goes!!

message 106: by Shannon SA (new)

Shannon SA (shannonsa) I've decided on Lady of the Butterflies by Fiona Mountain for my No. 60 - Book with four word title. Do we post here when we've completed our tasks?

message 107: by Jessica Simone (new)

Jessica Simone Think ill start the sword of truth series--first wizards rule for my number 49, something with witches/wizards/magic!!!

message 108: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
@Shannon - yip just post here when you are done and ask for your next number :)

@Lauren F - lol

@Jessica - Enjoy!

message 109: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jevine) | 939 comments I'll take #310 please. Thanks

message 110: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
310 - Read a book by an author with 3 names eg. judith anne krentz

message 111: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
When I made this challenge I should have thought of a way for myself to participate lol

message 112: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Well one of us can pick a number for you, if that's what you mean.

message 113: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I thought of that, and obviously I won't be able to win the prize, but then I am depriving you guys of numbers lol

Unless you guys can live with me using 5 or so numbers (cause I am slow), and each time someone else picks one for me?

message 114: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith If you like, we can have an extra prize that I'll sponsor. Then you can award a prize after the first 6 months and I'll pay for one after the next 6 months, and you can compete for that one.

Since you have the list of tasks though, we'll have to pick numbers for you.

I'm sure no one would object to you 'depriving' us of numbers, lol.

message 115: by Barbara (last edited Mar 13, 2012 02:00AM) (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Why wouldn't you be able to win the prize? I guess you use some randomizer program to select the winner so that should be fair.

I would love to pick a number for you and you would not be depriving us of numbers. That is just silly.
Let us know who you want to pick your number for you.

I think there would be far more than enough numbers to go around.

message 117: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Barbara wrote: "Why wouldn't you be able to win the prize? I guess you use some randomizer program to select the winner so that should be fair."

She's buying the prize, so it seems a bit pointless.

message 118: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Thanks guys :)

Don't worry about the prize Lauren, I just want to join for the fun :)

message 119: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Why pointless? Buying yourself a book is never pointless, it is always a pleasure!

message 120: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Hahah good one Barbara :) I can buy myself a book anyway to make me feel like a winner :P

Besides I won the prize last year, so this year is on me

message 121: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Barbara wrote: "Why pointless? Buying yourself a book is never pointless, it is always a pleasure!"

But can you imagine Lu announcing, "And the winner is... ME!" Lol :)

Ok, but let me know if you change your mind.

message 123: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Will do :)

Ok so Lauren you pick my number first? And please don't make it hard...

message 124: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I'll try and activate my psychic powers and pick an easy one.

Hmmmm... 200

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Whoohoo not too bad thanks :)

200 - Read a book with a person’s name in the title

Need to go look at my to-read list now :)

message 126: by Shelagh (new)

Shelagh P. (shelaghp) Sounds like fun - I pick 13

message 127: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Welcome Shelagh :)

13 - Someone wearing a skirt on the cover

Good luck!

message 128: by Shelagh (new)

Shelagh P. (shelaghp) 13 - Someone wearing a skirt on the cover

Sounds like fun! Quick question: can the skirt be part of a dress?

message 129: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
You mean the bottom part of the dress? or a two part outfit that looks like a dress?

message 130: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I finished my first task!
11 - Something on the cover that you have a phobia of
I'm scared of water - especially deep and dark water.
Read: This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

For my next task, cringing just a little, I choose #2.

message 131: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Ooooh how was it?

2 - Read a Historical Romance

I don't know if that is a good or bad thing...

message 132: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Umm, is there water on that cover? Isn't her hair just blowing in the wind?

message 133: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I'm sure those are waves?

message 134: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I looked at the large pic of the cover - it looks indistinct to me, just a blurred background in blue tones.

message 135: by Claudia (last edited Mar 13, 2012 06:17AM) (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments It looks like water to me. o.o
Just in case it's not, I can choose something else.
Will either of these count for "heights"?
Article 5 (Article 5, #1) by Kristen Simmons Thief's Covenant (Widdershins, #1) by Ari Marmell

message 136: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Definitly looks like she is at the beach and the waves in the backgroud

message 137: by Crusader (last edited Mar 13, 2012 06:21AM) (new)

Crusader (crusaderza) | 2457 comments Mod
There's a blurred ocean or lake in the background.

On closer inspection the background might also be clouds and mountain.

Inconclusive.

message 138: by Henri (new)

Henri | 122 comments her hair is definitely blowing in the wind, the background just might be water

Both of those look like Heights to me.
The Historical Romance not in the near future? lol

message 140: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith It could be water, but it could also be something else blurred out and tinged with blue. But if everyone sees water then I guess it's ok.

message 141: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments Haha, no problem. It could be something else blurred, but I just always saw it as water before now. I have those other books on my March read list anyway, so it's no bother to just pick something else. :)

@Lu, I'll keep task #2 and read it when I get my first task sorted. Sorry for the trouble.

message 142: by Barbara (last edited Mar 13, 2012 07:06AM) (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Just to put my two cents in. As much as I might like to I just can't see water in the background. Also if she would be under water: long hair in water looks more silky. I have got experience with that since my hair is very long (it hangs halfway between my butt and my knees).
The two books you mentioned most definitely would count for heights.

message 143: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Ah well if you are going to read those others next anyway, atleast it will be double covered :)

@Barbara wow your hair is long!

Two part that looks like a dress - thinking Victorian fashion.

Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger -> This is the book I have in mind - it's a top and skirt of the same fabric.
