I completely understand. I had the pleasure of reading the series spoiler free (hadn't discovered Goodreads) and don't want to deny any of you that pleasure.

We do our best around here to not be spoiler-ish but there are some topics you should stay clear of, especially those that deal with the series as a whole.

I just found the series earlier this year and have just started Visions in Death. I can't believe I never discovered this series until now. It's fantastic.

I've just started . Hating Eve's harsh behavior raking poor Somerset over the coals in interrogation about his daughter. :(

That's just how Eve rolls. If she didn't go easy on Mavis, why would she go easy on Somerset?

That's true, Kirsten. She hides behind her training to compensate for her emotional deficiencies. She has trouble showing empathy, trust, love, etc. Not her fault, given her past.

Really enjoying this book so far, and the narrator on Audible is great. I feel like I'm really getting into the characters as they reappear in each successive book. I'm also developing favorites among them. Peabody is a hoot!

Kirsten and Donna, I believe it's a bit of both. She believed the best way to help Mavis AND Summerset was to follow the rules and prove they were innocent. Maybe if she had more experience with empathy, Eve's approach wouldn't be so brutal but her heart's in the right place.

Eve's heart is in the right place. She just doesn't always know how to show that she cares. I think Eve knew she had to play it straight by the book with Mavis and/or Summerset in order to clear them with no question of partiality. She almost had to go overboard making sure she dotted all i's and crossed her t's with them - to the point of maybe being tougher on them in interview, etc., than she might have been otherwise. She hated doing it but ultimately, did it for them.

One thing for sure is that no one could ever accuse Eve of thinking of or putting herself first. Most everything she does is to help someone she cares about or the victims of crimes.

Even if you go back to the first book in Naked, Eve didn't go easy on Roarke when she had to interrogate him. Like she said, if she showed any partiality towards the suspect, it would make it look bad and she would be taken off the case. She has to put her feelings aside in tough situations like this.

She appears to do a good job of putting her feelings aside...but we can all "see" in her head and know it often tears her up to have to do it.

Other than trying to read with the Robb's BOM rereads and I have read all of her books I just sort of float around and pick whatever book appeals to me at the time.

I read them as soon as they are at my library, just love reading about Eve, Roarke, and the gang, brilliant.

I finished Concealed in Death this weekend so now I am back to my hardback search with Ceremony in Death, that has been a harder one to find!

Need to buy the audiobook - unfortunately, used my credit already this month (April).

I am now reading Glory in Death. Just a newbie at the series and love it!!

Just finished Immortal in death. WOW. My favorite so far. Eve is my heroine. I understand her in a whole new way now because of this book. AND what can I say about Roarke…….He is my all time favorite hero.

You do get more insight about both of them with each book. Glad you loved this!

Yay Paula! I have always felt like the first 3 books are so important for setting the foundation for this series. I tell anyone who asks me about the series to read the first 3 books and you'll be hooked! I loved Immortal too.

Me too, J. But I usually recommend a minimum of the first 3 just for getting in the ending of Immortal...:)

I'm reading Origin in Death

I just finished Vengeance in Death, which is #6 in the series, and really enjoyed it. This one had a far more intricate and complex plot than the previous books.

I agree, it was one tough story.

I just finished 22.5 "Haunted in Death"! It wasn't my favorite (found it too "quick" if you know what I mean), but enjoyed it nonetheless!

Is there a "guide" on here regarding how to get the picture of the book to show up when you write a post? (I am quite bad at it, aren't I?)

When you start posting in the comment box, you'll see "add book/author" on the top right side. Click it and you can search for the book. When you find the book, you can add it as a link or cover (see the option for them at the bottom of the frame).

I am reading Immortal in Death (I am posting on my phone and won't let me add a link if cover). I am so excited about Eve and Roarke getting married though with the serious trouble Mavus is in and Leonardo mixed in it I can't help feel it may not happen. I was pleased to see Sommersets story emerge a little and that Eve opened up to Dr Mira. Peabody is interesting and sometimes find her comments funny. Just loving this series

That was a fun read -- I liked it too!

Peabody is one of my favorite characters. I love her sense of humor. You'll see a lot more of it as you progress through the books.

She is such a kick! I love it when she says things that Dallas doesn't want to hear!

I am only on book 3 so I don't know a lot about things yet. Love the series though!
