Day 14, and Books of the Heart

I've already told you about the time I got this kick-ass idea approved by my publisher, wrote the book, and then they decided to change their parameters and it wouldn't fit. At the time I was between agents but I'd already had a drink with someone who seemed wonderful (and she was) so I called her up, she went into high gear and it was sold in a matter of days. The book was AGAINST THE WINDhttp://tinyurl.com/m2efdtt,free today only at Amazon.

This was particularly important to me because thi...

Friends and Family

Ah, the joys of living in the mountains of Northern Vermont. There are many, including the physical beauty and the politics. But we also have some of the highest utility rates in the country, combined with the least reliable. I woke to a brownout, then no power, then the screams of the carbon monoxide detector. Rush to get clothes on, get the cat out of the house, realize the co1 detector was probably reacting to the brownout but not wanting to take chances, opened windows, called the electri...

Coitus Interruptus

First off, I couldn't think of a proper April Fools Day Joke to play on you all, but I'll cogitate. Second, I've got to announce the winners of the weekend prizes but I was at the doctor's yesterday, and I live so far in the boonies (the mountain of Vermont) that it takes me an entire day just to get someone to tell me I need my knee replaced. Ouch!

Today we've got a very special book on sale at Amazon in the US, UK and Au/NZ. ON THIN ICE, one of my very favorites.http://tinyurl.com/oppdfrr

Agents

First, today's goodies. I've got 5 sets of the Fallen series in paperback -- all four books. I'll probably have to limit this to the US because sending 4 paperbacks to Australia or whoever would be just too expensive, but trust me, these books are cool. Fallen Angels whose curse is to drink blood to survive (and I did a lot of research on the purged books of the bible, etc.). I wanted a reason a benevolent and loving god would go around smiting things, and then let horrible things happen, so...

More Fabulously Stupid Mistakes

First off, a free audio copy of RECKLESS, the second book in the Rohan family saga. Since the books are about separate generations you don't have to read them in order, and in certain ways this one is my favorite. For some reason it's all about sex. I don't know why it came out that way, but it did, and it's great sex, with a lovely supporting couple and all sorts of wicked goings-on. I have five copies, read by the divine Susan Ericksen. Just leave a comment and I'll use the good old random...

Yes, I Am An Idiot

My screw ups are legendary and monumental. The most recent ones were relatively small but numerous just yesterday. I wrote about Moonrise and writing through grief when it was actually Ritual Sins that was free for the day. Then I put up some strange link. (This was after starting to talk about mistakes and then losing the post). Then I panicked. Then I went to visit my new granddaughter and told my son it was so lovely that his son looked like him. Everyone looked at me strangely and I said...

Double Crap

Okay, I have been a complete and total idiot. I don't know how my brain got turned around but it's Ritual Sins that's free today, not Moonrise. That link should have taken you to Ritual Sins, but I'll post you a new one: http://tinyurl.com/m7a9uyd

So just ignore my sad story about writing Moonrise. At times I'm a Bear of Very Little Brain. It's RITUAL SINS, which really pushes the boundaries as well. Cult leader and rip-off artist as hero? I make it work -- trust me.

Winners

The winners of the two Fallen audios are:

An S. Tricia Halliday Sheila Mellow

Send me an email with your snail mail and I'll get these off to you.

And I still haven't heart from one of the winners of ON THIN ICE audio. Leigh, are you out there? If I don't hear from her/him in the next day or so I'll pick another name.

And now I have to talk my poor husband into packing them up and sending them off. Ah, he suffers!

Well Crap

I was going to talk about mistakes I've made over my career -- the good ones and the bad ones (and there were many excellent mistakes, even if I had to pay for them). However, in honor of the subject I wrote a nice long bit, didn't save it, and the computer froze. Remember to save your work, people. Sigh.

I've always been one to enjoy a bit of irony, but I think the PTB don't want me to talk about mistakes today. I hope they don't want me to talk about Ritual Sins, because I don't want to cry....
