From the Detroit Free Press: Amazing finish marks a Super Bowl for the ages
GLENDALE, Ariz. – They were one yard away — and then it burst. The magic bubble that Seattle had been living under, the immortal elixir it had been drinking, the string of amazing finishes, the incredible touch of Russell Wilson and decision making of Pete Carroll, the karma that seemed destined to take the Seahawks to a second-straight NFL title — it all ended in a blink, on the most unlikely of plays, a forced pass by Wilson with just 20 seconds left that was snatched at the goal line by New England rookie Malcolm Butler.
"I put the blame on me," Wilson would tell the media.

From the Detroit Free Press: One last column for a one-of-a-kind mom
Over the years in this space, I have, occasionally, written about my mother.
I once wrote a Halloween column on how she made me the Mummy. (She wrapped me in toilet paper, which was fine until it started raining.)
I wrote about how she marched me into the library after a librarian had told me "that book's too hard for you" and my mother yelled, "Never tell a child something is too hard for him! And never THIS child!"

She called me “Mitchie.” She held my arm when we walked. She talked to me for hours when I was a boy, leaning against her bed, never too tired, never too late. Although strokes left her silent the last four years, her voice is forever inside me, and her humor, insight and wisdom are in any story I tell. She is the real mother behind "For One More Day", but nothing I write could come close to the rainbow she was.
She shared her light and her tireless heart with all who knew her. She and my father were everyone’s example of what a marriage should be. Getting used to a world without her in it will be very hard.
Thank you all for the kind words that have been sent, even though I have been too heartbroken to respond to most. Time and her loving memory will get us back on our feet.
