“You have to start over. That's what they say. But life is not a board game, and losing a loved one is never really "starting over." More like "continuing without.” ― Mitch Albom, The First Phone Call from Heaven.

Just finished reading this book. Thanks for making me cry again Mr. Albom. :)

From the Detroit Free Press: New year, same old pain for Lions in playoff loss

ARLINGTON, Texas – The big guy cried. That's how crushing a loss this was. Ndamukong Suh, a man better known for pummeling large people, couldn't fight the tears when he tried to sum it up. He stepped away from the microphone, sniffing and wiping his eyes, then exited the room. When he came back, he referred to the game as "sickening."

Yes, it was, if that means it made you heartsick — or seasick.

From the Detroit Free Press: To quiet Lions' critics, here's a can't-do list

The key goes in, the engine growls, and now we find out whether it finally turns over.

The Lions have a chance this afternoon in Texas. A wildly important chance to silence all the echoes that haunt them. Win this playoff game, against a high-flying Dallas team some pundits see going to the Super Bowl, and it all ends. The "same old" talk. The repeating chorus of critics. The idea that Jim Caldwell winning is no different than Jim Schwartz winning, a gasp above the surface before another sink.

Fear is how you lose your life...a little bit at a time...What we give to fear, we take away from...faith."

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM HAITI ORPHANAGE - Through eyes of our newest child "LewLew," age 3. Pizza, cake, a new family, love. Life really can be a new year.
Thank you all for making 2014 special. I am here with the Haitian kids, happy as can be, having sung Auld Lang Syne and lit sparklers and put them all to bed at 8:30!
A great 2015 to you all. I've got a big new book coming in November. My favorite so far. Peace and health to you and your families.
with my thanks and gratitude -
Mitch

From the Detroit Free Press: Welcome home, Harbaugh — but U-M isn't the same

Dear Jim:

Welcome home.

I say "home" not because you were born in Michigan (you weren't) and not because you might think of it that way. I say "home" because everyone else thinks of it that way — you, your alma mater, back together — so you might as well get used to it.

When you are introduced today as the next coach of the Wolverines, as the Free Press has learned will happen, the smiles will be different than your previous jobs — warmer, more satisfied, heads nodding as if this were always meant to be.

It's all good.
