Exams Got You Nervous?

His exams were scheduled for Thursday, but it was only Monday and he felt he was still in control with plenty of time to study. By Wednesday, after attending two study group sessions, he realized he didn’t know as much as he should. He began spiraling into a place where he felt a lack of confidence and tremendous anxiety. What would his parents say if he failed?

Studying for exams can create feelings of worry and stress. Students are often consumed with anxiety and fear that they will not pass....

Is Time Travel Possible?

Many people wish they could go back and change something that happened in their past. Mistakes bring feelings of regret and a longing to do things differently. Many books, movies and television shows have been created based on the idea of going back in time to change an important event. But unfortunately, the past is written and we are bound to remain in the present. Or are we?

There are stories of great Yogis and other realized beings moving through time or crossing great distances in a momen...

The Magic of the Himalayas

The Himalayan range is the highest mountain range in the world with Mount Everest being one of the nine highest peaks comprising the Himalayas. Do you know that these mountains are the source of some of Asia’s major rivers and also help to regulate our planet’s climate?

The beauty of the Himalayas is undeniable, but there is an esoteric aspect to this marvel. The Himalayan region, with its secret valleys and high mountain lakes, has inspired many tales and beliefs such as the existence of yetis...

Expectations: Useful Tool or Waste of Time?

You must be deeply involved, you must do things like your life depends on it, but actually it should not matter at all. Whatever you do, it must be just the way the situation demands; nothing more, nothing less. The moment it matters to you, you become a vested interest.” – Sadhguru

Many a time, we are invested in the results of our actions. We insist on the situation turning out the way we want. Accordingly, things go well until they don’t anymore, leaving us lost, heartbroken or apathetic. I...

Miracle of Life

Have you ever wondered how life happens sometimes very seamlessly with no effort on our part?  Our body processes like breathing, digestion, movement, reflexes, and recovering from wounds all happen with almost no intervention from us. Engineers can relate to slogging countless hours to build a product which works reasonably well, and even one small lack of attention to detail can lead to product returns and countless customer complaints and phone calls. So is life a miracle in that case design...

Jiddu Krishnamurthi

Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on May 11, 1895 in Madanapalle, a small town in South India. He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then President of the Theosophical Society. Dr. Besant wanted to prepare Krishnamurti to be a world teacher and indeed, Krishnamurti is regarded as one of the greatest global thinkers.

However, in 1920, he broke with the Theosophical Society. From then until his death in 1986, Krishnamurti  went on to speak throughout the world to large audi...

Language: A Common Conspiracy

Babies are said to listen to sounds from the moment they are born. They learn to associate the sounds they hear with their sources. For instance, they can recognize their mother or father by the sound of their words, before they understand what the words mean. Babies babble as a prelude to word recognition and language acquisition. A baby may not speak their first word until they are 6-8 months old. Although it is an innate skill, learning a language is not a quick process.

Scholars believe tha...

What Is Rudraksha?

A rudraksha is the seed of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree. Rudraksha usually grows at a certain altitude in the mountains, mainly the Himalayan region. These seeds are a product of the Himalayan soil and atmosphere thus developing a unique vibration that is beneficial to those on the spiritual path.

“Rudra” means Shiva, “aksha” means teardrops. Rudraksha are the teardrops of Shiva. The legend goes that once, Shiva sat for meditation for a long period of time. His ecstasy was such that it made hi...

Do You Know Who You Are?

If someone asked you to describe yourself, what would you say? Would you include in your answer your name, country of origin, your likes and dislikes, your career choice, and your family? We know that we have a body with which we can breathe, touch, feel, see, hear, and move, but is there more to what we call ourselves than just our name and our personality?

The question of how consciousness and self-awareness connect with personal identity has plagued philosophy since antiquity. Many sages of ...

Has Humanity Evolved?

Science has attempted to map human evolution since the Neanderthal. They base their theories on archeological findings and current and past human physiology. However, how can we say that humanity has evolved beyond its anatomy when we live amongst violence, bias, and a world that is being exploited from many angles. Are we really any more conscious than before?

Can our brains grow larger so that we can become more intelligent and compassionate? Will it be possible, at some point, to increase t...
