Hello again!
Thought I'd update you on what I'm writing.
Most of the time, that's the sequel to TURN.
It's called "A Play of Shadow" and I'm delighted with how it's coming together even in this early stage.
Today, tomorrow, and the next day? I'm sliding sideways to write a hard sf story. A friend made me. Plus it's a fabulous anthology, so I hope the result gets in -- will let you know.
And not quite at the same time, much as it feels like it? The next story about Cenote, my water wizard, to be part of the wonderful next installment of "Tales of the Emerald Serpent"
Goodness abounds. Hope you like the result!

Rejuvenation!
Yup, wilderness camping (we take a canoe, our packs, and disappear) has worked its magic on me again. If you'd like to see, visit http://www.czerneda.com and scroll to my photo.
It's quite odd, really. Before camping, it seemed normal to be indoors much of the day.
Now? Not so much. In fact, we're outside from dawn to dusk. Dusted off the laptop to write outside. Reading outside. Eating outside. It's wonderful.
As for writing? I'm back to my normal state, in which at least three stories happily putter away in the hindbrain at once and all seems easy -- or at least doable.
It's as if I reformatted of my personal harddrive, and all is quick access again.
Needless to say, having felt such a profound impact from this trip, I'm convinced we should do another and soon.
After all. It's good for the books.

All assistance appreciated ...
Hi Folks,
We're into the home stretch on the kickstarter for the new Emerald Serpent anthology. Even if you aren't interested yourself, please share the link with anyone you think might be. We're very very close, but with the approach of the holiday weekends (here and in the US) as well as the end of school, it's going to be a struggle to catch the right eyeballs.
Thank you in advance!!!

Free previously unpublished story
With Lego. Trust me.

Enjoy the story, then you'll find the Lego interpretation at the end. How fun is that?

All by myself. Hope you enjoy! There's a short reading, a peek at my office, and I share my enthusiasm for my current short story collaboration.

Want to read my first collaboration?
I've had a wonderful time with the first of the "Tales of the Emerald Serpent" shared world anthology. It was something new and I'm very proud of my wizard, Cenote, and her adventures.
And now there may be more!
Check out http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/5...
I'll be collaborating on a story with the esteemed artist/author Todd Lockwood, in which our characters work together -- mostly -- to help stay out of trouble.
Should be fun!

New blog post on SF and F

In which I answer -- or attempt to answer -- the question of what each genre did for the other, why I write both, and what have I learned.

Writing it all...
A new interview with me, by the Spectator Tribune. Loved the questions, even the hard ones. Thanks Ian!
Enjoy.

100 000 visits!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my new-look website. I'm thrilled to see the counter about to pass 100 000.
So thrilled, there must be a TREAT!
Pop over to http://www.czerneda.com. I'll post the treat at the 100K mark and leave it up for a couple of days.
Thank you. It's one thing to work hard on a website. Another to have people use it. WHOO HOO!

Settling in ...
Ah, May. Lovely month. A month, I might add, in which I have no further events.
Which means ...
Writing Time!!!
I'm very excited about A Play of Shadow, Book Two of Night's Edge. (Sequel to A Turn of Light)Among my research? Fashions of the 17/18th century. It's easy in Canada to find examples of those for England, France, or North America, but I've been tracking down some resources for the rest of the world. Fascinating stuff! (Note to self: do the minimum. Research is addictive.)
What's your May plan?
