As BookHippo.uk grows, I've been receiving an increasing number of emails from authors asking how to get their books featured. Therefore, I thought I'd outline the selection process.

Featured books come from two places:

1. a list of books submitted by authors

2. a list of books pulled from Amazon

It's the former that I will focus on in this post. I go through the submission list every morning making quick decisions on what to feature.

Here's a hint for anybody searching for how to get milk into homemade chocolate, e.g. for milk or white varieties. This is something I had difficulty figuring out. Many recipes used powdered milk but I found it would not dissolve.

The trick is to buy an instant milk powder such as Nestle Nido. Most powdered milk products are not instant.

I'm proud to announce my next novel, Two Shades of the Lilac Sunset. The central theme is separating abuse and BDSM. I wrote it in response to the glamorisation of psychological abuse in the Fifty Shades trilogy by EL James.

It will appeal to people who enjoy thrillers, romantic suspense and erotica. However, there are also descriptions of sexual violence, so bear that in mind if you choose to read it.

I was going to give this dress 3.5 stars, but when I saw how magical it looked in the photos I took to go with my review, I instantly upgraded it to four.

This is a lightweight dress suitable for wearing to the park or beach on a bright summer's day. It is not, in my opinion, suitable for a formal occasion (although you can jazz it up with a flared petticoat). Nor is it winter wear.
