Review: Lindy Bop 'Hetty' Vintage-Style 1950's Rockabilly Dress in Purple

Here's the next in my series of dress reviews. If any store would like to send me a size 12 swing dress to review, please get in touch.

Hetty dress without flared petticoat

I am just gutted that all the white Hetty dresses in my size have sold out. I own a purple one and I have to wrestle with myself to take it off to wash.

STYLE

The Hetty is a style of 1950s rockabilly dress characterised by a tight fitting top, full circle skirt and shawl-like collar. It can be worn as a day dress or you can j...

How to Make Your Own Orange Chocolate

I only recently found out that you can make actual chocolate at home using just your hob and ingredients that are readily available online. Ever since I heard the news, I've been busy trying out new recipes. Here's one of my favourites so far.

It's low sugar and the chocolate contains over 90% cocoa.

Here's one I prepared earlier...

Review of Lindy Bop 'Ophelia' Vintage 1950's Garden Party Picnic Dress

My latest fiction writing project is under wraps at the moment, but I have found time to write the first in a series of dress reviews, which will be really useful for anybody trying to steal my identity! (Or just people who like pretty dresses.)

Me showing off my new 'Ophelia' dress

Me showing off my new 'Ophelia' dress

So, who wants to take me on a picnic? This gorgeous, floral dress has put me in the mood for a garden party.

I absolutely adore the Ophelia dress shape. It's a beautiful 1950s design with a slim waist and flared skir...

Free in Many Formats - My Granny Writes Erotica

The eBook versions of my My Granny Writes Erotica series have always been exclusive to Kindle. However, they are now available across the board.

Better still, the original quickie - a self-contained novella - is free.

For your free copy, see mygrannywriteserotica.co.uk. Some stores have not updated their prices yet, so if you would like copies for eReaders, download my free versions and upload them manually, for now.

A Stranger Turns Up Asking Questions About the TV

Betty Berry opens the door to a stranger who reminds her of a walking coffin (not that she's ever seen a walking coffin). He tells her this is no time to be spending money on a television. Is he a rogue TV Licensing enforcement officer, or are his motives much more sinister?

My letter to TV Licensing has 'gone plague' as Betty would say, with lots of people messaging me about their own experiences feeling intimidated by the system. I've yet to see evidence of enforcement officers being anythi...

An Open Letter to TV Licensing

Letter to TV Licensing

Letter to TV Licensing

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for the ten letters you sent concerning the lack of a TV license at this address, each demanding action and making threats.

Presumably, you find it inconceivable that I might be able to live my life without a television set. Please rest assured that I have clean drinking water and adequate sanitation; televisual entertainment is the only impoverished aspect of my life.

As it happens, I find it inconceivable that you could live your life without a...

Erotica Generator - From 0 to Boobs in Fifteen Seconds

People like to write about boobs - no, people like other people to write about boobs.

It's a long standing frustration that a trivial song lyrics generator, which I wrote when I was at university, is just as popular, if not more popular than my carefully crafted unique and lengthy books.

Song Lyrics Generator and its sister sites, Plot Generator and Letter Generator, involve internet users picking a few keywords, from which a song, plot or letter is generated. The most commonly entered keywords...

Let's get talking about child organ donors

I've been on the organ donor register for ten years. Before that, I carried a donor card. Help others live after I stop needing my body? It feels like a non-brainer. If I die, what's the point of taking a passenger (or several)?

Child organ donation is much harder to talk about because it's almost unbearable to consider losing a child. However, it's every bit as important for parents to put their children on the donor register as it is the sign up themselves.

Recently, I heard the story of Jame...

This Is What a Feminist Looks Like

Despite ongoing action in the pursuit of gender equality, a campaign has arisen called Women Against Feminism. A feminist, according to them, appears to be a man-hating character who judges women who want to stay at home and raise children, doesn't recognise innate gender differences and basically pursues more rights for women than for men.

Naturally, many people dispute this portrait of a feminist but whenever a feminist tries to engage in complex discussion about the matter at hand, many mem...

How Not to Self-Publish - Out Today

I frequently get asked how to sell books. The truth of the matter is that I can't pinpoint why some books take off and others don't. However, I have discovered some sure-fire ways not to sell. How Not to Self-Publish is a humorous parody of the many self-publishing guides available. It will help you dodge typical pitfalls such as what to do if your main character doesn't speak English, or a crocodile eats your laptop.
