I hit a wall this morning. I woke up and wanted to go right back to bed. Even after coffee, I’m still tired.

Release week is equal parts fun and exciting but also exhausting. I’m always so happy to share the book I’ve worked so hard on and to hear what readers and bloggers think about the story and characters, but I also have a tendency to fall into a bit of a funk.

I got an automated call last night. It was from Lil Bit’s school. Lil Bit is my daughter and she’s eight, so we’ve been getting lots of those and I happened to miss this one.

When I had a moment, I listened to the voicemail. What I heard was not what I expected. I figured it would be a call reminding us about spring t-shirt orders or the daddy-daughter dance next weekend at the elementary school.

Rock and Troll releases in less than a week and I’m both excited and anxious. More than the usual “new book” anxiety. This paranormal romcom series is a bit of a departure from my usual PNR and I’ve been worried about how it would be received.

Reviews on Goodreads so far have great things to say about the book. Enough that I had a little cry over them this morning. So, I can only hope the rest of you feel the same way when the book goes live!

Clay carried her down the hall to the bedroom. “That sounds familiar. Where’d you hear that?”

“You’ve never seen Top Gun?” she asked, staring at him with huge eyes.

He laughed. “Just teasing.”

She squealed when he dropped her on the bed and she bounced. Dylan leaned back on her elbows, watching as he stripped off his shirt.

As his hands drifted to his belt, the sound of the front door slamming echoed throughout the house.

This week got off to a rough start. Amazon hadn’t price matched Blood & Bone after more than 72 hours. I tried to arrange for someone from KDP to call me 3 times Monday morning and my phone NEVER rang. But they did actually call and leave voicemails, so the problem was with my phone or carrier. However, by the end of the day, Deon, the amazing rep from Amazon, got it taken care of, so THANK YOU, Deon!

On top of that, WordPress did an update and all the book pages on my website vanished. Usual...

After a year and two months, I finally have a new book for you guys!

While it is part of a series, each book can absolutely be read as a standalone, so you don’t have to go back to the beginning of the series unless you fall in love with it.

This month has been a busy one! The first round of edits on Ensnared in Shadow (Blood & Bone, #4) are done and back with my editor. I’ll be setting up the pre-order and cover reveal in the next few weeks. I’m halfway done with the first book in a new paranormal romcom series I’m writing for next year. And I attended a virtual conference for romance authors that was extremely informative and motivating.

Last week was a doozy though. Lil Bit was out of school all week after having a stomach bug...

It is finally beginning to feel like fall in Texas. I woke up this morning and it was actually cool enough that I wanted a light jacket. By the weekend, it’ll be dropping into the 40’s at night. We’re decorating for Halloween this week, too.
