First Day of Fall

It’s officially the first day of fall, even if it doesn’t really feel like it in Texas. Still, it is the start of my favorite time of years. Yes, I’m one of those that loves the period between Halloween and New Year’s Day.

Husbot is, too. He’s already pulled out the Halloween decorations. We’ll probably put them up this weekend.

Since it is my favorite time of year, I’m planning some special discounts over the next few months. Starting with I Crave You (Crave, #1).

From now until Septe...

Looking Up

Things are happening here at the Wood homeplace.

I’ve been writing almost every day since Lil Bit went back to school. I’m a little over halfway through my current WIP. Which is the next Blood & Bone book.

The husbot and I just closed on some acreage right next to my dad. We’re planning to build on it next year. We took a walk around the property this weekend and I took some pictures. Lil Bit was not amused.

But Lil Bit LOVES school. She’s sad on the days she doesn’t get to go. On schoo...

Audiobook News!

The Bitten series is coming along in audio. The first three books are live and the next is on its way. I don’t have a release date for Bewitched, Bothered, and Bitten yet, but the audio is done and with the publisher so it should be soon!

You can find these three on Audible and Apple Books.

I’m looking forward to sharing the rest of the series with you in audio!

Not what I expected…

Today was the first day of school for Lil Bit. As you can see by her picture, she is stoked. She was ready. She was excited. I didn’t have to pry her out of bed or threaten her with no Minecraft.

Miss Thang got up, dressed herself, ate her breakfast, brushed teeth and hair, and was ready to go ten minutes early. That’s right. Early.

I’m pretty sure she was glad to escape Teacher Mommy.

I, however, am a wreck. I’ve been worried about her all day. Is she hungry? Thirsty? Paying attentio...

Meet the Teacher

Tonight is that lovely, but also dreaded, day that I get to meet my daughter’s teacher. She is extremely excited to the point that she was texting my dad about it from her iPad…and he was only on the other side of the house. Yeah.

What’s to dread, you ask?

Well, I know at some point, what I do for living will come up. Maybe not tonight, but by the time we’re scheduling the first parent-teacher conference, it will have been brought up.

Now, I’m in not way ashamed of what I do. I love to ...

Good Things.

Nope, I’m not Martha Stewart, but some good things have happened this week.

Lil Bit is getting back on schedule BEFORE the first week of school. Going to bed earlier, getting up earlier. She’s adjusting a lot better than I thought she would because, well, she’s a night owl like her mama.

Now, a little backstory before I mention the next good thing.

We started Taekwondo classes at the end of June. I studied for several years, starting at age 11, and earned a second degree black belt in m...

Adventures in Gardening

Like a lot of people last year, I worried about the stability food supply chain. And like a lot of people, I started a garden.

I’m not great at it. I forget to weed and water as regularly as I should, unlike Lee Prescott. But when I do remember to do my gardening things, I enjoy it.

I like growing food and herbs. I like seeing my garden flourish. Though I’m struggling with my tomatoes, y’all. Big time. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I feed them, prune them, put cages around them, wat...

Slow and Steady

So I’ve been working on this book.

Since February.

I typically finish a book in 60 to 70 days, but this one still isn’t done…four months later. Part of the reason why is because I finished about 25k words and realized the story was wrong. All wrong. My story arc didn’t fit. The beats were off. The hero did some stuff that I didn’t feel the heroine could reasonably get over in the timeline. Basically, it wasn’t the right story for this book.

So, I spent a month brainstorming, outlining, ...

Bite Me is in Audio!

Bite Me, the first book in the Bitten series, released in audio today!

This has been nearly a year in the making and I’m so excited that it’s finally come to fruition! I don’t have a release date for the second book yet, but I’m hoping I can make an announcement soonish. Since an audiobook publisher is handling production, dates are out of my hands. Still, I’m sure you won’t have too long to wait!

I celebrated audio release day by declaring it Leftover Night and acting like a sloth all da...
