Writing full time
Thursday night after getting home from a long day of work I spent a few hours writing before my husband finally convinced me to turn out the light and go to sleep. I didn't want to stop even though I was exhausted. The ideas were pouring out and I just wanted to spend hours writing as much as possible. I thought to myself that it would really be nice if I could write 8 hours a day instead of working. I could get so much done and I'd enjoy seeing where my imagination would take me each and every day.
Well, Friday morning I was awarded with a snow/ice day. We got at least 3 inches of snow topped with a layer of ice. The office was closed since no one could make it in. I had an entire day to write. Sure, my kids were rowdy and between fixing meals, changing diapers, and chasing down the dog to get back whatever toy he'd run off with, I had more time to just sit and type. By the end of the day I felt like my brain was fried but also had a great feeling of accomplishment. Too bad I can't trade in my regular 8-5.

Cover art
Last week I went to Fiverr to find a graphic artist to do the cover for my ebook. I hired vocaldesign for a fraction of what they are actually worth. They have been very patient with me as we have gone back and forth through about 6 drafts.
This morning I was excited to receive the final version of the book cover for part one of my story, "Wild About You: The Strange Life of Emily Hunter"!

Hi, I'm Lane and I'm a newbie!
Thanks for visiting my new blog! I hope you will follow along through my travels as a new author. The world of urban fantasy and paranormal romance is one I have become engulfed by in my free time. A few years ago after catching up in the Anita Blake series and not knowing what I was going to read next, my husband suggested I write my own book.
I had an idea in my head for an urban fantasy story, so I began writing it down and then gave up on it. Only recently have I gone back to the thoughts I wrote on a page years ago. I reread the intro chapter of my "book" and it didn't look or sound like something I was capable of writing. I decided I wanted to try and finish it, at least part 1, and publish it to see where it goes. So let's get on with it!
