T is for Darth Tyranus

Today's choices were limited, but I've chosen another Darth, Darth Tyranus, aka Count Dooku. The man who had two unfortunate names. Count Dooku began as a Jedi before heading to the dark side and becoming the apprentice of yesterday's character, Darth Sidious.

The Count first appeared in Episode II, Attack of the Clones. He engages in several lightsaber duels, including one with Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda.

in Episode III, Anakin lets his anger control him and upon the insistence of Darth Sidious, decapitates Dooku/Tyranus.

S is for Darth Sidious

Darth Sidious aka Emperor Palpatine was the one responsible for corrupting Anakin Skywalker and leading him over to the dark side. He was almost killed by the Master Jedi Mace Windu, but Anakin interceded and saved him.

After surviving Windu, Darth Sidious, taking Anakin, Darth Vader, as his apprentice and together they went on to conquer the galaxy in the name of the Empire.

R is for R2-D2

Daily blogging is starting to take it's toll on me on this is 21st day of April. There is just not enough time in the day for all that needs to be done but the A to Z Challenge must go on!

R2-D2 is of course the blue and white droid from the Star Wars movies. He only communicates in beeps, but those around him, mainly C-3PO, knew what he was saying. He was responsible for saving the day whenever the main characters got into a pinch, and was seen in each and every movie.

Q is for Qui-Gon Jinn

Qui-Gon Jinn was played by one of the most awesome and bad-assed actors of all time - Liam Neeson. Qui-Gon was a Jedi Master, and he was also the mentor of Obi-Wan, whom he taught him well.

QG was the one who noticed that the Force was strong in the poor young slave, Anakin Skywalker, and helped free him.

Soon after, Darth Maul, the ugly son of a bitch, kills QG in a lightsaber battle. Obi-Wan picks up where his master left off and is able to defeat Darth Maul.

QG's last dying breath asked Obi-Wan to train Anakin to be a Jedi, which he agreed to do, and the rest is history.

P is for Poor Padme Played by Portman

Natalie Portman was the actress who portrayed Padme in the Star Wars Episodes 1-3. She probably had the worst deal of any of the Star Wars characters. She met Anakin in Episode 1 when he was a little boy, fell in love with him a few years later, married him, then became pregnant. Anakin's prophetic dreams where he saw Padme's death caused him to go over to the dark side. Little did he know that his own hands would lead to her death.

After Anakin loses his mind and starts killing Jedi, even the younglings, Padme goes to Mustafar to find him. Unbeknownst to her, Obi-Wan was hiding away on her ship. When Obi-Wan reveals himself to confront Anakin, Anakin becomes angry and wrongly concludes that Padme had betrayed him. Anakin/Darth Vader almost strangled her to death but after Obi-Wan fights with and leaves Anakin for dead, is able to get her medical help. Sadly, Padme gives birth to her and Anakin's twins, Luke and Leia, right before she dies of heartbreak, or from being almost choked to death.

O is for Leia Organa

I had no idea Princess Leia's last name was Organa until I started the research for the A to Z Challenge. Even if you've never seen any of the Star Wars movies, I'm sure you've heard of Leia, played by Carrie Fisher and her famous gold bikini.

For our Star Wars Weekend at Disney I'll be breaking out my Leia Halloween costume from a few years ago. My husband was dressed as Han Solo from Episode IV, when Han was disguised as a Storm Trooper, and my daughter was dressed as Yoda.

N is for Nien Nunb

You may not recognize the name, but I bet you'll recognize his face.

In Return of the Jedi you may remember this goofy looking guy flying with Lando. He was chosen to be the copilot of the Millennium Falcon when the Rebels launched their final attack on the Death Star. Nien didn't really say much, but some of what he said was actually in Kikuyu, a type of Kenyan.
