If you watched the movies first then you already have an idea of what happened in the story, and since the books and movies aren't exactly the same (the movie leaves out a lot and gets many details in the book wrong), if you read the movies first, you wont like the books as much

message 1223: by Sammm (last edited Feb 11, 2020 11:54PM) (new)

Sammm There was a short miracle and I was actually able to use the find duplicate function to remove 535 entries (after multiple tries, this is the total count, didn't remove them at one go;) there are probably more but I count the reduction a small victory.

Removing:
City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare The Elite (The Selection, #2) by Kiera Cass Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School, #2) by Gail Carriger Waistcoats & Weaponry (Finishing School, #3) by Gail Carriger Manners & Mutiny (Finishing School, #4) by Gail Carriger Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2) by Leigh Bardugo Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass, #7) by Sarah J. Maas The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2) by Rick Riordan

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)
#1298 score: 552, and 7 people voted

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)
#1350 score: 513, and 7 people voted

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)
#1489 score: 454, and 6 people voted

The Elite (The Selection, #2)
#1532 score: 434, and 6 people voted

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2)
#1562 score: 417, and 5 people voted

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)
#1582 score: 405, and 5 people voted

The One (The Selection, #3)
#1626 score: 398, and 6 people voted

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)
#1649 score: 395, and 5 people voted

Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School, #2)
#1656 score: 392, and 4 people voted

Waistcoats & Weaponry (Finishing School, #3)
#1656 score: 392, and 4 people voted

Manners & Mutiny (Finishing School, #4)
#1656 score: 392, and 4 people voted

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)
#1684 score: 386, and 4 people voted

Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass, #7)
#1690 score: 385, and 4 people voted

The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2)
#1697 score: 384, and 5 people voted

The list clearly stated to only vote for the first book if it's a series.

Also, I'm being objective here; a lot of books MAY have higher rankings than they currently do, due to the duplicates.

I mean, people do us all a favor and don't vote the same book twice or beyond; should those are actual different people, well, I'd advise people voting for the lowing ranking one to relocate your votes to the higher one, since GR is obviously having a hard time merging duplicated votes with this mass number of voters.

Kay S. One of my favorites is the Hunger Games trilogy. Also Fablehaven is amazing! I would recommend Fablehaven to anyone. It is very kid friendly, and it really pulls you into the plot.

message 1225: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Cha I read charlette's web in first grade. Why would a "young adult" read that?

message 1227: by Patrick (new)

Patrick Wiley Please support The Devouring (Last of the Magi #1). Its primary author G. S. Eli is an American Roma an ethnic group more commonly known by the misnomer (Gypsy). He's the first person from his highly traditional American Roma community to write a fantasy novel. The story features a Roma hero and is meant to inspire Roma youth and help combat prejudice.

I'm so sorry they didn't appeal to you, but that doesn't mean that no one liked them.
The story isn't perfect, but really what story is without its flaws.

I prefer Harry Potter over Twilight as well, but that doesn't mean I hate Twilight. In fact, I enjoy a good Twilight read! It's good to keep in mind that some people would prefer Twilight over Harry Potter as well. It's all about your preference and/or opinion!! :)
Just a thought.

Saw the movie on television but it didn't appeal to me enough to buy the book.

message 1245: by Donna (new)

Donna Munro Question... I have a book on this list at 7168, but it has dropped in this big gap between 4546 and 7168. I'm really proud it is on this list and would love to share it (have tried) but no one can find it. I keep trying to page to it, but there's no way to see the books between those. Does anyone have a suggestion?
