How do you feel about reading a series in order. I was first introduced to your books with Right Behind You. I loved it, so I quickly moved to Find Her. I could not help but feel wrong for not starting with the first in the series yet I'm torn and really want to start on Never Tell. I'm curious, how does an author feel about their fans reading books out of sequence?

As a reader myself, I love reading in order. However, I've also discovered and read plenty of authors out of order, including Karin Slaughter and Tess Gerritsen. Most thriller writers, myself included, write each novel to be a treat in and of itself. So you can absolutely read out of order. In the case of Karin Slaughter, I read a bunch of her books in no order at all. Then, because I loved them so much, I went back a year ago and binge read her entire backlist in order. I had a blast. So there you go. Read what you can now, then if you really like them, set aside a month for the full series experience. The second time around I always notice more character information anyway. And who doesn't love a great book, twice?

Lisa Gardner:
I read "Before She Disappeared" and looking back on the cover art, it just strikes me as odd that the cover art has absolutely NOTHING to do with the book. It is just so completely annoying that I must raise this issue. There is no water in the book. There is no body of water in the book. There is nothing to do with water at all in this book. How could you approve the cover art with this in mind?
