Have you read George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series? I plan on tackling them this summer. (I've already watched the HBO TV series. Shame on me for watching before reading the books! ^_^) If you have, I'm very curious as to your impressions of them.

I tried the first book, but had to bail. The writing is terrific--Martin is a real master--but there was far too much violence against the helpless and innocent, especially women. If I want that, I can watch the news.
I would rather get a sense of justice in my fantasy reading, and have female characters with more agency. Since you have watched and liked the tv series, my guess is that you will love the books. Friends who like them get really involved.

Hello. Could you please tell me where exactly Mearsies Heili is situated, in relation to some bigger, better known countries (to me) like Colend or Sartor? Is it somewhere near Chwahirsland? Is it on the same continent at all? I've been staring at the maps until my head hurt, and nothing :)

Where potty training is learning a spell - do newborn babies wear diapers/nappies? Are they cleaned by other spells? I know at least once you had an injured person glad to wake up in time to do the spell, so I infer that there was a chance others couldn't do it for her.
