Simon (siid) Hello fellow book lovers.
I'm Simon from the mountains of Austria and I'm glad I found this place. I only discovered Goodreads a couple of days ago but instantly decided that it might be my new favorite place to be;)
Eversince leaving university I was looking for groups where one could discuss and talk about books...and it does look like i finally found one;)

Among my favorite books are Kazuo Ishiguro's Never let me go and The remains of the day, Palahniuk's Lullaby, Hornby's High Fidelityand Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. I'm looking forward to some interessting discussions about books and to discovering some new ones;)

Sanoj Jose (joseasanoj) | 2 comments Thank you Ruth. Semi classical is a mix of classical and modern, you find a lot in India.

message 160: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Russell | 1 comments Hi, I'm Pam and I live in southern New Jersey. I always have several books going at once and am trying to remember the books I've read to add to my list - a herculean task! Can anyone help with this one? The novel was about a female reservist with a husband and family who was deployed and lost both her legs in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan. Her best friend died and it was about her struggles, both physical and emotional, upon returning home. Name and author please??? Thanks.

Welcome to Constant Reader, Pamela. Is the book nonfiction or fiction.

Welcome, Beverly. Right under the rating option is a link: add a review. Click on that and a box will open where you can type. I hope this helps.

Thank you, Carol, I will take a look at the short story threads.

message 169: by Stina (new)

Stina | 2 comments Hi, all.

My nickname is Stina. Like Angel, I live in central Pennsylvania. And, like Simon, I also love Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. Other favorite authors are E.L. Doctorow, Mark Helprin, and Margaret Atwood.

It's always sad when I read a great book but have no one to discuss it with. So I'm glad to have found Goodreads and Constant Reader.

message 171: by Portia (new)

Portia Hi. I am very, very new, in many ways. I am also one of those folks whose TBR piles regularly come crashing to the floor when one more book is placed on the top. And yet ... I keep adding. Looking forward to "Mr. Penumbra .." in June.

message 172: by Robert (new)

Robert James | 603 comments I know the feeling...

Sherry | 8261 comments Welcome, Stina and Portia. Being here will only add to your problems with towering TBR piles.

Portia Thank you! This group sounds like just what I am looking for!

message 175: by Deniz (new)

Deniz (dstarsong) | 7 comments Hello,

My name is Deniz, and I have been dying to discuss books with people. I've almost always been around with people who don't read much, so I have always been in my own little world, reading and cherishing many stories that are given to me. I am also new to Goodreads, so hopefully I'll be able to figure things out pretty quickly. I really look forward to discussing Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore with everyone! =)

message 176: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 11076 comments Welcome, Deniz. Always plenty of people to talk about books here.

message 178: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 24 comments Hello, I just joined this minute. I was drawn in by the kind and literate written introduction to the group.

I have an epic on a young family up on the web on a site that was built for me by the Horton Foote Society. Mr. Foote was the screenplay writer, of course, for To Kill A Mockingbird, and often encouraged young writers.

I teach college and can't visit here every day but look forward to joining the discussions. The tone seems very welcoming. Thank you.

Shelley

message 189: by VickiLee (new)

VickiLee I am an English/Creative Writing teacher in the latter part of my career. Because my students don't always share my love of language and literature, I am looking for a place where I can have friendly and intelligent discussions about books, writing, ideas, life, love and whatnot! I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada - a city they call the Paris of the Prairies!

message 190: by Alex (new)

Alex (joggler) | 2 comments Hi :)
