I Joined as the books you are reading this and next moth are on my to read list and I noticed on your Schedule for July 2013 -- December 2013, I have read 3 of the books this year, so I will have time to come up with something witty to post. (yeah that going to backfire.) I can not wait to chat with many of you.

Vanissa Gale (vangurl) | 6 comments Hello, I'm Vanissa. I had developed a habit of making my own review every time I finish reading a book. I happened to see this site where I can actually post my insights about a book.
It's just nice reading others thoughts about a novel and see that they coincide with my own. :)

message 305: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (yarnmama10) Hi! I am certainly what I would call a "constant reader" so it seemed the perfect group to join. :-)
I am in Nashville TN. My main genre is Classics, Literary Fiction and the occasional Thriller plus Stephen King who gets his own genre in my opinion and I read everything he writes. It's an obsession that began when I was 13 and persists even to his son's books now. :-)

message 306: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

Sherry | 8261 comments Hi, Catherine. We have another long-time Constant Reader named Catherine who lives in Nashville. She hasn't been around in a while. We had our meeting one year in Nashville. Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome!
How funny. Wonder if we have met in the library or bookstore? Lord knows I frequent them enough :-) Would love to do a meting here again. How does that get picked anyway? Just curious.

message 308: by Ira (new)

Ira Nayman (arnsproprietor) | 7 comments Hi. I'm a writer who has been on Goodreads for a few months. I learned about Constant Reader because somebody who had reviewed one of my books started a discussion thread here on one of my other books, and, when my publisher brought it to my attention, I figured I should probably watch it to see what people were saying. (So far, nothing. But, we all live in hope...)

As it happens, I do have something I plan on promoting (in the appropriate place) when I am finished with this brief note. However, even I don't like people who use social networks only for self-promotion, so I will try to contribute more as I find discussions that interest me.

message 309: by Nina (new)

Nina (author_ninaslack) Hello,
My name is Nina. I am an author, and I love to read, write, and be creative in my own little ways. I recently joined goodreads to find some good reads, share my published books, get some reviews, and just have a fun time. My recently published book is called Little Effie's Book Of Poetry. Authentically written in poetic form,Little Effie's Book Of Poetry tells of a young, little girl named Effie through her mother's point of view. Each poem tells of little Effie and her family, and of course her royal cat Miss Whiskers. http://www.amazon.com/Little-Effies-B...
Happy goodreading everybody! c:

Welcome, Nina, but please put your promotional material in the Promotions folder.

And welcome to you, too, Ira.

If the idea comes from a tube; instead of a page; it is only the owners idea.

Sherry | 8261 comments Welcome to Constant Reader, Shanice. I don't think we've ever had someone from Malta before (that I know of, that is).

message 316: by ☯Emily (new)

☯Emily Ginder I have read The Maltese Falcon which I don't think has anything to do with Malta!

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 3 comments Hello, I'm Margaret.
I live in Sydney, N.S.W., Australia, with my husband Ron and our two year old Maltese named Chicki.
Within a week I'm hoping to publish my eighth title, my first novella. It's exciting to break new ground.
Most of my other titles are romance anthologies. Encore was released in 2013. A previous release, A Taste of Life and Love in Australia, is part of a series, and it's had many, especially favourable reviews.
My favourite writers are James Herriot and Jane Austen.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the members of this group.

Lynn | 2297 comments Welcome, Margaret. Since you are new, I want to let you know about our policy regarding promotional items. Information about your novella or any of your other titles should be posted in the Promotions folder, and not be included in other discussion threads.

That said, I hope you will enjoy our discussions and participate in those that interest you!

message 322: by Violet (new)

Violet Hi I'm Violet. I am currently going into my sophomore year of college for elementary education. I love reading, to a fault (: I am currently a nanny for two older kids who have not had alot of reading motivation before I got there, so that has been an adventure. I have a cat named Mason, who loves to hear me read out loud to him. My favorite author is probably Lillian Jackson Braun, and my favorite book(s) are all the cat who's, fever 1793, and no fear Shakespeare. I am so excited to be apart of the group. I have been looking for a convenient book club for ages, and I am so thrilled that I have finally found one (: I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. Thanks for letting me become a part of the group!

message 323: by Sara (new)

Sara (seracat) | 2107 comments Welcome, Violet. You had me at having a cat. :-). I have two, Finch and her brother, Joad.

These are deeply silly on some levels, but you might like a series of books by Clea Simon--the Theda Krakow mysteries. Rock and roll and wonderful stuff on cats (who, by the way, do not solve the mysteries--that would be ridiculous!) and really pretty smart.

Ah, yes, I've checked that one out when you've mentioned it. Not to worry: I have a full sheaf of instructions from the current residents, plus all the past write-ups they inherited.

Most important? Frequent meals, of course.

I look forward to contributing and learning from the members here. Thank you for allowing me to become a member of this lovely group.

message 340: by Kylie (new)

Kylie (kylielowen) | 9 comments I suppose my first post should have been in here, but I didn't think of it. ;)

Just wanted to say hello... I'm Kylie! I haven't found a group yet that really fits what I want, so perhaps this one will do it. Taking part in group reads has never been something I'm terribly good at (I like to read what I want, when I want), but surely there is some convo here that would interest me.

message 341: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments If not start one and others may join in .

Kylie (kylielowen) | 9 comments I've thought about it, but running a group would probably take more time than I have. ;)

message 343: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

Sherry | 8261 comments Welcome, Kylie. Glad to have you here.

message 344: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments I didn't mean start your own group, wouldn't want to lose you. I meant start a thread here about something you are interested in. Surely among the 4 ,000 ÷ members someone would chime in.

message 345: by Kylie (new)

Kylie (kylielowen) | 9 comments Carol, I might just do that! There is a place to discuss poetry, and that's one of the things I've been wanting. Seems like most poetry groups on goodreads focus on sharing their own writing from what I've seen thus far. I wouldn't mind doing that, but discussing the classics would be nice too. :)

Thank you, Sherry!

message 346: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments Post a poem. Will you be joining The Painted Veil discussion? I just finished it.

message 347: by Kylie (new)

Kylie (kylielowen) | 9 comments I'll post something in there once I decide what to post! hehe

Hmmm... I doubt that I will take part in the book discussion I guess. I have quite a few books lined up that I want to read. The book looks interesting though!

message 348: by ☯Emily (new)

☯Emily Ginder The Painted Veil is certainly an easy read and you might be able to fit it in easily. I can't wait for the discussion.

Marty Selnick (MartySelnick) Hi. My name is Marty and I'm a native Vermonter transplanted to California. I I spent all my formative years in Vt, but I have been in CA for 41 years. Both feel like home. I am retired and disabled which leaves me with plenty of time for books, film, and art. I love to read and always have at least one book going and many more waiting.
