That's a great idea Cathie! I may ask him. :)

Thank you. I live in Massachusetts. It is a very scary situation. They have our capital city on lockdown right now. The area we are in right now is lovely.

Savanes | 2107 comments This weekend, I'll be packing for my business trip. I'm going to the US (3 days in Las Vegas and a week in San Diego). I am soooooooooooo excited, I've never been to any of those cities before but I have no clue what to put in my luggage!!!!!!!!! Plus I have the "IMightNeedThisPairOfShoesToo" syndrome. :'( It seems I just CAN'T leave anything behind! But we never know, I really might need that pair of shoes after all!!! :D Such a girl! And don't get me started on clothes and bags!

Have fun Kristie, you deserve it!

message 255: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Kristie, have fun during your weekend :) Vanessa, all the best with your trip and packing ;), seems to be exciting time ahead of you :) Let me know how you find the US, I'm always interested in people's opinions about the States :)

Today I was in the Science Museum, Copernicus' Center, it was marvelous time, experimenting with water, sound, air and electricity, learning more about human body and nature :), I felt like a child again, if you are in Warsaw some time, I strongly recommend the trip there :)

message 256: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Ah, good ol' Copernicus; I remember him from my university physics class. We were not on the best of terms for the longest time; it took me forever to understand him, but once I did, it has been a lifelong attachment :-)

Vanessa, enjoy!

Thanks everyone. We're having a very nice time relaxing.

Vanessa - I hope you enjoy your trip.

message 258: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Vanessa, I'm jealous!! Have a great time. I went away this weekend for two nights and took 5 pairs of shoes.

Anima, I used to feel the same but I use a training program, that gradually increases the run and it makes it so much easier!

Kristie, Did you read the book? I hope you had a relaxing time.

Lynn, Funnily enough, that's not the first time I've been called crazy since I entered!

I had a great weekend, but after driving 2.5 hours each way and partying two nights in a row I need another weekend to recover!

My mom came to stay at our house to dog-sit and I teased her because she brought 2 suitcases and a bag with her own pillows for 2 nights! She was staying in my home, how much stuff could she need?! lol

I did not read the old book. I didn't want to end up having to leave it there, so I finished Graceling instead. I also found out that the old book could be purchased on Amazon! We had a very nice and relaxing time. Thanks!

How was your weekend?

I only took one case with me, normally it would have been an overnight bag but I had to put the shoes somewhere and I had to take a few outfit choices as I wasn't sure what to wear on the nights out.

I had a great weekend, I saw friends I haven't seen in a couple of months. I also saw a friend that I haven't seen in almost 2 years! How fast time goes by! I went dancing on Friday night and on Saturday I experienced my first Buck and Doe party, where I won some yummy Margarita cupcakes! Tonight is going to be an early night for me, I think I'm past the stage where I can party all weekend and not feel it!

So, I thought I would announce that I am finally below 200 holds on Gone Girl! lol I may actually get to it this year! I'm hoping June, but we'll see. Only six months or so behind the group...

My hold copy of The House Girl finally came in at the library though, so hopefully I'll be picking that one up in the next few days. :) I have SO many books to read in May and June!

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments It's working here like Kristie said Ryan.

I notice they haven't been working for you on your updates; I don't think updates take HTML coding, ie. it doesn't seem you can put a spoiler in an update (in an update what you type is what you see, no hidden code)

Hey, Kristie, Gone Girl is indeed worth waiting, just to know what people are talking about, it is impossible to stay indiffrent after reading this book.

I also read some of our group's reads out of schedule, thanks to the archive I can pop into the discussion any time :), so I'm waiting for your opinion on Gone Girl later in a year :)

Stuart (stuartreid_author) | 6 comments Can I ask for your thoughts on Dan Brown's forthcoming book?

I enjoyed The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon, #2) by Dan Brown , I loved Angels and Demons (Robert Langdon, #1) by Dan Brown (hated the movie), thought his other two books were a struggle but I truly detested The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3) by Dan Brown . I've never been more disappointed with a book in my entire life (probably because I spent a fortune on the hardback)

Now, what about his latest book Inferno? Should I bother, or wait an read a copy from the library?

message 298: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Hi Stuart. I loved Angels and Demons. I haven't read the other two yet. If you are not sure, I'd say wait for the library and if you love it you can buy it once you know.

I did the same thing with Casual Vacancy that you did with the Lost Symbol; I went out and bought it right away, hardback, at the peak of it's frenzy and it cost me over $40. with tax. A year later people I know where finding it in Goodwill stores on used book racks for $1, hardcover. I don't mind spending $ if it's a book I love, but CV was a 3 star for me, not a 5 star. So now I tend to go the library route unless I know I just have to have a book on my bookshelf, but it hurts when reality doesn't live up to what I expect.

So it's a bank holiday weekend here in the UK, so looking forward to a long weekend off work. Unfortunately I'm not well, so apart from a lunch date I have tomorrow (which I can't get out of) I'll be spending my time sleeping, reading, watching the World Championship Snooker final .... and feeling sorry for myself.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

message 300: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Too funny Lynn. Hope you feel better and I'm glad you have a long weekend to rest up. It actually sounds like a nice weekend overall, resting and reading. :) Hopefully, you'll feel well enough to enjoy it a bit.

I am unfortunately preparing for my last exam of the semester, which is due Monday, and working. Not quite so fun, but I have two weeks off from school after this, which will be a nice break.
