I've started reading 11/22/63 But just can't seem to finish it.

Lorrea--how far have you gotten into it? Several friends of mine and I all got hooked by the story pretty quickly, but maybe you just need some more time to get interested?

I read The Cellist of Sarajevo a while ago . Heartbreaking but wonderful story that will stay with you for a long time .

That's the craziest part about it, I'm really interested in the story and it got me hooked right away, but I'm stuck now. I'm at the point where Jake goes into the past and starts out on his official mission.

On the other hand Kathy--The Cellist of Sarajevo is a really good book!

Maybe you can give it another shot a few pages at a time and get hooked on it again. I enjoyed reading about the mission, so I hope you'll get unstuck and get the chance to enjoy it, too!

Hello I am currently reading "Fifty Shades of Freed" I finished the other 2 books in this series before this quickly. I am dragging with this last one. It's moving rather slow. Also reading a few others but put them down. They are more self help and I get bored easily. The other Novel is "The feast of all saints" by Anne Rice

I'm reading "After Her" by Joyce Maynard. Trying to finished most of it before tomorrow's online chat.

Laura, I'm enjoying it so far :-) I recently started reading 11/22/63 also and was enjoying it but stopped when I realized it wasn't on the boxalls list of 1001 books to read before you die, which is what I'm currently trying to work my way through. I'll probably start that one up again after I finish 1Q84. It'll be my first Stephen King which is cool :-) I'll let you know what I think of 1Q84 when I'm done!

Great, Kayla! Glad you're enjoying _1Q84_. I mostly liked it, but had mixed feelings about certain aspects. It'll be interesting to hear what you think, especially since I'm not sure anyone else I know has read it.

I'm about to start Necessary Lies . Just finished Someone by Alice McDermott - five stars . Trying to get my thoughts together to write my comments.

I recommend this book:
God Distorted: How Your Earthly Father Affects Your Perception of God and Why It Matters.
This is by John Bishop and it gives some great insight into some issues in many churches. I think he has some great things to say about correcting some wrong thinking. :)

Thoroughly enjoying William Kent Krueger's 'Cork O'Connor' series, love a good detective yarn and his sensitivity to the nuances of cultural struggles is fine.

Just started reading The Great Railway Bazaar by Paul Theroux. I believe this might be his first travel book and it was published in 1975 so it's historical I would say!

Just read Love Anthony by Lisa Genova - loved it. Now I'm reading Kindred by Octavia Butler. Listen to Plain Truth by Jody Piccolt and e-reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Oh, and some mothering book is in the bathroom lol.

I'm just finishing up "The name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss...This book is so captivating. I love it. It is a must read.

Kindred by Octavia Butler is a unique book too, I really liked it.

I have just started "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" by Katherine Boo - a must read according to a great friend who is also an extraordinary English teacher.

It's a great day for catching up on reading, it's a cool breeze day here in Laredo Texas.

I really liked 11/22/63. It turned out really differently than I thought it would. More like

The Green Mile than some of the horror he has written.

Some of my favourite books have been written by Stephen King.
Does anybody remember the langoliers? I remember having nightmares after watching it.

I've enjoyed it... But not loved it. I have about 150 pages left. I'm a stickler for endings...so we'll see.... It's good not great.

The Last Runaway was pretty good. Fast read and kept me interested. Not the greatest book in the world, but glad I read it
