@Amber - Thank you :-) And thanks for the luck, I will probably need it - I'm a bit of a wimp haha! I may read Under The Dome, depending on how much time I have. I meant to watch the series but I forgot, will need to go online and catch up.

Amber, I've been watching it too, and I agree with your mum, they have changed quite a few things! I'm not sure why they have done that, but it's a bit annoying, as it's a while since I read it, and I keep thinking, "is my memory failing, or is that different to the book?"

I never thought of this before but I guess that The Simpsons Movie is kind of inspired by Under the Dome. The trailer for the TV series reminded me of that movie so much!

Well, I hope you enjoy it, Amber! It's actually the only Stephen King book I have read, although I have seen some of the films.

Haha I just thought of it there. I'm going to look it up on Wiki to see if it is based on it.
EDIT: It's not - or at least not intentionally ;-)

Thanks Amber, I intend to read more of his books in the future, but for the moment, I have so much else to read! Which would you consider his best book?

Maybe a little later? I don't know what my December is like at the minute with assignment deadlines. For all I know all my work could be due before Christmas or after. But I am off from the 14th so even if it was extended a couple of days, maybe until the 18th or 20th? Would that be ok Amber?

Just found my copy of The Shining as I'm visiting my dad for the weekend. I'll be joining in with the October readalong. I did start it before but didn't enjoy it. However that was a good few years ago and my tastes have changed so I am willing to give it another go!

I've not seen the film but I will after reading the book as a Halloween treat!

Leslie, I read Moby Dick a few years ago. I thought it was fabulous and at some stage will buy an audio copy to hear it again. However, I'm afraid it won't be October. I'm taking part in a big read of The Divine Comedy in another group then. If you do find people to read with I'd love to dip in to your discussions if that's OK.

I'm fine with those dates for City of Bones :)

Great Birgit! I will set up a readalong thread when we get closer to October.

Me!!! (I can't believe I am saying that against my better judgement seeing the books pile up in front of me)
@Birgit, I just saw that there is a new translation out in German by btb-Taschenbuch (translator is Matthias Jendis) which received a lot of praise.

I may be directing it this autumn! So would love any reading buddies to discuss it with

I don't think so because they are set up by the members, not the moderators.

Hehehe! I was just thinking about this. I do think it might be useful to have an overview & was thinking about setting up something in "Upcoming Monthly Reads".

Yes, something like that. I know that I have had discussions about reading things for Nov. & Dec. already so it might be helpful to just see it all together.
