I love Harriet the Spy! It was my favorite book when I was in like third grade. Re-read it last year (it was actually for a class I was taking, haha) and still really enjoyed it. :)

Finished Squire (Protector of the Small, #3) by Tamora Pierce which I loved, and also my reread of Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare which I loved!

Next I'm reading The Mirror King (The Orphan Queen, #2) by Jodi Meadows

I love Lemony Snicket's "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" books!

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I got the quiet day with my Kindle I'd been hoping for yesterday, so I finished reading Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Twisted Prophecy, and then read both The Mystery at Lilac Inn and Claudia and the Bad Joke. Plus, I started Kristy and the Walking Disaster, which I ended up finishing early this morning because I couldn't sleep. I also read The Empress' New Gowns today.

Now I'm about to start reading Legend of The East Road.

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments "Had" to make a detour down the book aisle at Costco yesterday (which is something I rarely allow myself to do). I came away with this beauty Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow Ever since my GR friend (Ashley Hufflepuff Kitten) mentioned the Hamilton musical and I happened to see the music on the prime music app that evening, I've had Hamilton Fever!
So excited to sink my teeth into this book!

Oh my goodness! What a trip down memory lane you took me on! I loved Nancy Drew (and Hardy Boys, Judy Bolton, Trixie Belden, etc.) when I was in grade school, and I devoured the Babysitter's Club books in jr. high (the summer camp special was my absolute favorite--I was always checking that out of the library!)

I'd never read them before. I got excited about reading the Nancy Drew and Baby-Sitters Club books last year when we were discussing books we remember reading and loving as kids, and everyone was saying how much they loved those. Now I'm grabbing the odd book from time to time. I'm enjoying both, but I like the Baby-Sitters Club books best.

Who is your favorite baby-sitter, Victoria? I liked Dawn best, but Kristy was a close second :) And I loved Kristy and the Walking Disaster, that's a fun one!

message 865: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments I liked Mary-Anne (probably cuz she was so quiet--I was PAINFULLY shy as a child) and Kristy too.

I was also very shy as a child. The reason, I think, I loved Kristy, because she was everything I wasn't. (Except bossy, those who knew me best could tell you when I let my guard down, I do tend to get bossy!)

I really admired Dawn's independence and individuality. Plus, she was the "new girl", moving from a big city to a small little town, which I totally understand.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I'm currently reading Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica , about halfway through and its pretty good. Not sure where its going yet but that's Mary Kubica does best!

I'm also doing a re-read of Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas and thoroughly enjoying that! I've so missed the snark that goes on with Chaol and Celaena! I'm planning to re-read CoM and then continue on with HoF and QoS for the first time before EoS releases!

I like Kristy and Dawn, but I think Claudia is my favourite, because I like how she's not afraid to be herself and have her own style, regardless of how others feel about it. I think my order of preference for my favourites would go Claudia, Kristy, Dawn.

Claudia is probably my 3rd favorite as well. Back when the series was its in heyday, there was a contest for readers to write a short essay on their favorite baby-sitter (for some kind of prize.) At the time, Stacey was the most popular.

This series is just HILARIOUS!! Don't take anything too seriously, its all tongue-in-cheek humor! Takes a bit of getting used to (like English humor for example), but once you do its so funny!

I read the first one because I loved the adult series that is a companion to it but only thought it was ok. Did you read the Parasol Protectorate series? I think that helps the enjoyment factor.
