Glad you're finally reading it, and loving it so much. I thought the whole series was awesome. Actually, all David's books are, and I swear they get better and better!

YES Rose!! So happy you're reading this with the Facebook group!! I LOVE Slip (Slip, #1) by David Estes

It's really been fun getting all the different insights from everyone else and the author insights from David!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Hi from Korea!
My access to internet is limited here, but I'm reading lots as a result.
Read the entire Mortality Doctrine series by James Dashner, which, like the Maze Runner, started off promising and got steadily worse as the series progressed.
Read Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas, which was so engrossing and frustrating at the same time. Hated the ending, though.
Now reading Proxy by Alex London. Started off slow and I thought the world building was really confusing, but it's picking up now.

Hi Daniel!! So cool thst you're visiting Korea!

I've had Proxy forever. Let me know if you like it. Maybe I'll get incentive to dig it off the shelf. ;)

Jenny, unfortunately I DNF'd Girl on a Wire. It was way too slow for me and didn't have enough of a hook to keep my interest. I made it to 43% before realizing I couldn't go any further.

Now I'm reading Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger which is off to a much better start!

I finished Lady Knight (Protector of the Small, #4) by Tamora Pierce , and I loved it! Great end to a fun series!

Still reading Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (alright so far, at least there is a lot of action in these!) and started The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian which is really interesting, but kind of slow moving at this point. I'm hoping it picks up.

message 1214: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments It's been awhile since I've updated here, so here goes:

I read The Killing Woods by Lucy Christopher and loved it! In highschool, I consumed mysteries, but as I've gotten older, it's been harder for me to read them cuz I can usually pick out 'who done it' in the first few chapters. That was not the case with this book. I was constantly going back and forth and around in circles with who I suspected.

Since I had a positive mystery experience, I picked up another one. This time it was Imposter by Antony John . Unfortunately I had that one pegged by the second chapter. I finished the book hoping that there would be a huge twist, but no dice.

I read The Hidden Oracle (The Trials of Apollo, #1) by Rick Riordan and absolutely adored it. I spent much of the time laughing. :)

The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil, #1) by Soman Chainani wasn't too bad. The ending got weird for me...one of the characters acted completely out of character and went against everything she had done during the book, but it was still a fun read. Bonus: a nice twist on a fairy tale.

Finally, I picked up Riders (Riders, #1) by Veronica Rossi The first 20 pages were really hard for me to get into (talk about a few weeks), but once I got to page 22, I consumed the book til the end. I LOVED Rossi's other series (Under the Never Sky) and this one has a fantastic start.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @David, you deserve all the praise & compliments on the Slip Trilogy! I was reading Slip all through my lunch hour and did not want to put it down and go back to work haha! I have tomorrow off however so I can binge read Slip all day!

OH gosh, I am SO honored! As a reader, I have always loved when a book captivated me so much that I didn't want to put it down. That has been my goal from day one: To write unputdownable books. I'm glad Slip is in that category for you!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Yeah, the trip is great but the weather isn't, it's 35 every day with tons of humidity.
Almost done Proxy and I'm quite liking it now. It's very well-paced after you get past the first few chapters. I like that there's a gay lead in an action-filled book, you don't see that too often. Not that emotionally invested yet, but it's a fun read. I think it's worth a read if you're considering it, Karen.

I highly suggest you read this ASAP. (And now I need the sequel.)

Lauren Stoolfire | 2047 comments I'm reading The Dark Realm (Feyland, #1) by Anthea Sharp now - it's been on my tbr for quite a while, but a friend of mine just finished it and came back with glowing remarks so I decided to dive in since it is free on Kindle right now. It's a really interesting combo of VR gaming and a modern take on The Ballad of Tam Lin - wouldn't think it would work but it really is so far!

I finally finished The Devil in the White City Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson and it was FASCINATING!! Especially when it described in detail how Holmes was finally found out! What an egotistical sadist he was! Also, I never realized how much of America was shaped by that fair, especially in architecture. Was an excellent read!

Ooh, OK, I might have to try Dark Matter! I loved Wayward Pines so.... :) :) :)

I finished Etiquette and Espionage! Light, fun read with an awesome ending :) Good ol' steampunk enjoyment. Not quite to the level of Leviathan, but still worth reading. Now I've decided to move on to the second book in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson . It is over a thousand pages so I'll be reading it for a while :) AMAZING series!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Started Steelheart. I'm not sure why I didn't pick this up earlier, but I love it so far. The writing/first person perspective is really to my taste- easy to understand and sprinkled with a bit of humor. It makes the main character really likable. Hopefully it keeps my interest till the end.
